Continuous Miner, Shuttle Car & Bolter

Major overhauls of underground equipment, such as continuous miners or haulage equipment, start with stripping the machine down to the frame. All mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic components are completely disassembled, inspected, rebuilt, and tested.

Partial overhauls for both surface and underground equipment are focused on replacing components and performing repairs with the purpose of ensuring machine performance and maximizing downtime between partial and major rebuilds.

Over the last 20 years Beltor has participated in the overhaul of Joy and Sandvik Continuous Miners and Bolting Rigs.

Beltor is able to maximise the longevity of assets by maintaining them to the OEM’s specification through extensive overhaul and repair services.Combined with our alliances with long standing suppliers, Beltor is able to overhaul equipment that exceeds our customer’s expectations for project timing, quality and budget.

2. The MED is towed into place and the wheels are lowered so that the MED is flat on the ground

3. The boom of the MED is raised so that the head plate is positioned firmly against the roof


4. A bridle is interlocked onto the teeth of the MED Racks. These MED Racks are then pulled via hydraulic cylinders.

5. The buried vehicle is removed

Mining equipment is designed, engineered and built to extract ore, not to extract mining equipment. Eliminate damage to productive assets with the MED range.

The range of MED products was specifically designed to extract buried or bogged mining equipment.

1. Vehicle that is attempting to retrieve the buried piece of equipment with the use of a tow rope or sling

2. Uncontrolled movement of the vehicle can cause damage to roof supports and road.


4. The slewing of wheeled mining equipment requires a number of spotters to supervise its unpredictable movement. Operation of the MED requires minimal human interaction.

3. The uncontrolled, jerking motion of an attempted retrieval by wheeled mining equipment may cause damage to the road. Remediation of the damaged road adds additional cost and may further delay the recommencement of production following a retrieval.

Fuse NDT offers extensive non-destructive testing services including ultrasonic, magnetic particle, dye penetrant and visual crack inspections. Our experience extends to inspections for pressure vessels, tanks, welding, cranes (including 10 yearly) and all mobile and fixed plant mining inspections.Our qualified and dedicated operators with years of experience are what set us apart.
