Citation : Gerhard Rudolf Andlinger, your career is an inspiration to all young men who desire

to excel in American business. Born in Linz, Austria, you received your elementary and seconda y education in Lim and Vienna. You were awarded your bachelor's degree by Princeton University and your master's degree at the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration. In 1956, after having served two years in the United States Army, you developed a concept of managerial theory utilized by the Amcrican Management Association. These innovative business principles have been translated into sixteen languages, and have inspired and guided business executives throughout the world. At the age of twenty-eight you became Director of Planning f01' International T elephone and Telegraph, and at thirty­fOUI, the youngest Vice President in the history of ITT. In 1967, because of your exceptional business aptitude, you were elected Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of the great Esterline Corporation now listed on the New York Stock Exchange.
