Certification and testing
Materials usedAll the metallic parts are madefrom electrogalvanised sheet steelaccording to EN 10327,DX51D+Z275-N-A-C with a zinccoating of 275 g/m². The zinccoating corresponds to a zinc lay-er thickness of 18 to 24 μm oneach side.
Powder coatingsPainted parts are supplied with aRAL powder coating of at least100 µm.
Trunking and duct systemsThe trunking and duct systemscorrespond to the requirements ofEN 50085-2-2 or DIN VDE 0634part 1 or part 2.
OBO certificationsOBO is QA-certified according toISO 9001.
Material thicknesses of flushfloortrunking systems OKA-TThe material thicknesses are de-signed for load requirements of1.5 kN. Therefore, all the lids havea material thickness of 3 mm.
Separation of different servicesThe cables laid in the trunking areseparated safely using separatingretainers in the underfloor boxesand within the trunking. In the caseof branches, separating elementsin the form of cable bridges areused.
Equipotential bondingMetallic parts of the trunking sys-tem are – as far as is possible –interconnected during mounting(e.g. separating retainers). Elements added later, e.g. separat-ing elements, have a connectionlug for the PE connection. Earth conductor clamps can beused in underfloor boxes andopen trunking systems, in order toset up a connection to the PE.

Floor cleaning types
Correct selection of the device in-stallation unitsA component part of the OBO un-derfloor systems are differentdevice installation units, which aredesigned to accept accessories(protective contact sockets, etc.).A key criteria for the selection ofthe correct device installation unitsis the type of floor covering. Here,a distinction is made between dif-ferent cleaning types. This is be-cause the device installation unitmust be matched to the intendedcleaning method (dry, moist orwet) should there be the chance ofan ingress of moisture. The stand-ard DIN EN 50085 regulates thedivision into the cleaning categor-ies.
Dry careThe criteria for the classification"Dry care" is primarily fulfilled bytextile floor coverings, which areregularly cleaned by vacuuming offthe dirt ("dry"). Here, the stand-ard refers to "liquid-free or low-li-quid cleaning methods" and alsodefines, if cleaning solutions are
used, the quantity used must beso small that there is no chance of"pool formation or saturation of thefloor covering".
Moist careSmooth floor coverings, such as li-noleum, PVC sealed woodenfloors, polished stone floors, etc.fulfil the precondition for the use ofthe moist cleaning method. Thebuilding cleaning trade defines thistype of cleaning as a dust-collect-ing wipe in a single work-step us-ing moist or prepared cleaning tex-tiles. You can find a detailed de-scription of the cleaning methodsin the manual for building clean-ing.

Wet care"Wet care" is used particularlywhere very tough and adhesivesoiling must be removed. Thiscleaning method is particularly ap-plied to stone floors, tiles andceramic floors as well as for lino-leum and PVC covers. Wet care isdivided up into two methods:• Wet wiping, single-stage• Wet wiping, second-stageSingle-stage wet wiping is suitablefor low levels of soiling for floorcoverings which are sensitive tomoisture, such as raised floors orin IT rooms.According to the specifications, the floor covering is cleaned in asingle work step using more orless strongly drained cleaning tex-tiles (mop, wiping cloth, scouringor dusting cloth, fleece cloth). Theremaining moisture is left to dry.Second-stage wet wiping is suit-able for heavier levels of soiling. The second-stage method corres-ponds to the classic wet wipingmethod: In the first stage, cleaningtextiles (cloths, mops, wipingcloths, wide cleaning apparatus, etc.) apply as much cleaning fluidas is necessary to soften or dis-solve strongly adhering soiling. Inthe second stage, any fluid andsoiling remaining on the floor cov-ering is wiped up using cleaningtextiles.
Sufficient protection of the elec-trical installationThe right selection of the device in-
stallation units, matched to the ap-propriate floor type, ensure thatthe electrical installation is protec-ted against the ingress of moistureand dirt. For this, the device install-ation units are tested according toEN 50085 and labelled appropri-ately. All the UFS products re-leased by OBO BETTERMANN foruse in wet-care floors fulfil thestandard without any restrictions ofrequirements.
Protection ratings by IPInstallation units are only intendedfor use in dry rooms with dry, damp or wet-care floors. GES ser-vice outlets, complete units andcassettes with cord outlet offer aprotection rating of IP30 when un-used - when the cord outlet open-ing is closed. This is reduced toIP20 when the cord outlet openingis used.In combination with the OKA-FDseal, the OKA open trunking sys-tem offers a protection rating ofIP44.When unused, GRAF9, the GE2Fcomplete unit and cassettes forwet-care offer a protection rating ofIP65 (short-term), while, whenused, the protection rating is re-duced to IP20.Note: A water level of 10 mm onthe above units for wet-care doesnot lead to ingress of a hazardousamount of moisture, even if thecable exit (tube body) is used.

Protection aims, standardisation and testing
Responsibilities in standardisa-tionStandards can be divided into twocategories: installation specifica-tions and device testing specifica-tions. The installation engineer isprimarily responsible for compli-ance with the installation specifica-tions. In Germany, the standards ofthe DIN VDE 0100 series definethe most important requirementsfor electrical installations. Devicetesting specifications are productstandards, which specify the test-ing criteria for specific products. The manufacturer is responsiblefor compliance with these regula-tions. Conformity with a specifictesting specification is often docu-mented by a symbol approval cer-tificate. This confirms that an inde-pendent testing and certification in-stitute has carried out the appro-priate tests and documented theresults.
European standardisationOne of the declared aims of theEuropean Union is to replace na-tional standards with a singleEuropean standard. This simplifiesproduct sales and makes the in-ternal market transparent. Nationaldeviations are only permitted whennational laws make it essential. The series of standards DIN EN50085 specifies the requirementsfor electrical installation duct sys-tems. Part 2-2 deals with under-floor and on-floor systems and waspublished in July 2009. For a
transitional period of 2 years, either the requirements of thestandard DIN VDE 0634 Part 1and Part 2 or the requirements ac-cording to DIN EN 500845 shallapply. OBO underfloor installationsystems correspond to one ofthese standards and have appro-priate VDE symbol approval certi-ficates.
Device testing specifications areparticularly important for• Safety (protection against elec-
tric shocks)• The definition of the areas of ap-
plication• The function definition• The evaluation of load capacit-
ies
Classification for underfloor sys-temsThe DIN EN 50085-1, as a generalpart for electrical installation ductsystems, and DIN EN 50085-2-2,as a system-specific part for un-derfloor system, both require clas-sification of the products. Thismeans there is a standard Europe-wide specification of product prop-erties. For the first time, a standardfor installation systems also con-tains load tests for vertical loads, which affect a large area (heavyload). However, this testing spe-cification is not very practical, meaning that OBO BETTERMANNstill tests its heavy-duty systemsaccording to its own specification
and has assigned two loadclasses to its heavy-duty systems:SL1 for loads of up to 10 kN andSL2 for loads up to 20 kN.
Protection ratings by IKThe mechanical stability of installa-tion duct systems is confirmed us-ing the IK classification (accordingto EN 50102). GES service outlethave a protection rating of IK08and cassettes have IK10. Thescreed-flush open trunking sys-tems OKA-G and OKA-W, thescreed-flush closed duct systemsEBK and the on-floor trunking sys-tems AIK all offer the protectionrating IK10.

Determining the cable volume
Cable diameter and space required: 1 = diameter in mm, 2 = space required in cm² The space requirements of the cables in the
UFS ducts and trunking with empty spaces
The cable volume is an importantcriterion for the selection of the re-quired duct size of the underfloorsystem. To simplify your work, wehave listed the diameter andspace requirements of the mostimportant cable types on thisdouble page.
Important: These values are aver-age values, which may vary frommanufacturer to manufacturer. Please refer to the manufacturer'sspecifications for the exact values.
Calculation with the formula (2r)²As the cables are never packedtightly together or are absolutelyparallel, it is not enough to basethe volume calculation solely onthe cable diameter. A realistic cal-culation is provided by the formula(2r)². This value reflects the realist-ic space requirements, includingthe compartments.

System description, installation duct
Screed-covered duct systems aresuitable for all types of screedstructures: cement screed, pouredasphalt and floating screed. Theducts are available in the heights28, 38 and 48 mm, and in thewidths 190, 250 and 350 mm. Re-fer to the product section of thecatalogue for more detailed in-formation on the usable cross-sec-
tion. The ducts are made from gal-vanised sheet steel with a zinccoating of 275 g/m². The two andthree-compartment duct is dividedusing fixed sheet steel separatingretainers. For cement screeds, theminimum screed cover is 35 mm.When routing the duct system infloating screeds, the ducts aremounted within the insulation lay-
ers. When used in floatingscreeds, ensure that the routedduct system is sealed. The area ofapplication for underfloor duct sys-tems ranges from office and ad-ministrative buildings, throughcommercial exhibition areas rightup to the construction of living ac-commodation.
Composite screed applicationIn cement composite screed, the underfloor in-stallation duct can be mounted quickly, easilyand without additional protection. The cementscreed can be applied directly to the galvan-ised sheet steel duct.
Poured asphalt applicationUnderfloor installation ducts can even be usedin floating poured asphalt as a compoundscreed system with an installation temperatureof approx. 250 degrees Celsius. However, bitu-men corrugated card must be laid, thus provid-ing protection to the duct during pouring andthe cooling phase of the screed. Of course, thecables can only be installed after the coolingphase.
Floating screed applicationUnderfloor installation ducts can be mounted infloating screed just as easily as in cement com-posite screed. For noise reduction reasons, theduct is laid inside the insulation.

System description, underfloor box
Underfloor connection boxes arecomponents of the screed-coveredinstallation duct system. They areinserted at intersections of screed-covered duct sections or installa-tion pipes and in duct runs and, depending on the expansion, allowaccess to the cables routed in theduct or in the pipes or the installa-tion of electrical resources. Thebox bodies are available in thesystem sizes 250 and 350 tomatch the screed-covered ducts. The box bodies possess an intern-
al height-adjustment with a settingrange of + 55 mm. The minimumconstruction height is 70 mm. Forhigher screed structures, box bod-ies of an appropriate height (115to 170 mm or 165 to 220 mm) areused. Height compensation con-struction sets (raising aids) allowunderfloor connection boxes to beconverted to the required heightrange. Depending on the design, the box bodies can either beclosed using a mounting protec-tion lid (max. approved load
75 kg) or with a 4 mm-thick blank-ing lid with a blind cover. Theopenings for the duct sections orinstallation pipes in the side wallsof the junction and branch boxesare prefabricated and can be eas-ily created on the construction site. The boxes are principally suited foruse in floor structures with cementscreed, poured asphalt and anhyd-rite screed. The covers of the boxbodies can be decoupled from thebases after screed laying.
Application with installation ductsUnderfloor boxes of type UZD-3/UGD-3 haveside walls, which have prepared installationopenings for sheet steel installation ducts.
Expansion of underfloor boxesUnderfloor boxes end flush with the top edgeof the screed. Function lids create installationopenings for flush-mount units or inspectioncovers.

Directional correction and sloping duct entries
Duct directional correctionsSmall duct direction corrections(up to 7°) can be compensated inthe entry openings of the under-floor boxes with an adaptation cut.
Sloping duct entries (SE)With appropriate adaptation cuts, sloping duct entries (> 7°) can becreated according to the box sideand entry opening.
The prepared duct openings of theunderfloor boxes allow a slightchange in direction or the slopinginsertion of cables. The appropri-ate values can be found in the fol-lowing diagrams and tables.

Mounting aid, underfloor duct
Draw mounting planningThe planned duct routes and the crossingpoints and points relevant for junction andbranch boxes or underfloor boxes should bemarked on the floor in advance, e.g. using achalk line.
Mounting of underfloor boxesUnderfloor boxes are aligned and fastened onthe lines and the crossing points. This allowsthe required duct length to be determined.
Cutting the ductsThe simplest way to adjust the sheet steelducts is using a single-handed angle grinder.Clean cuts and subsequent deburring are im-portant for beneficial installation of the cables.
Duct connector mountingThe duct connectors can be positioned afterthe duct has been cut to size.
Equipotential bondingConnection shackles create the conductiveconnection of the two inserted pieces of duct.Alternatively, conductive connections can becreated between construction elements usingexternal connections, by soldering, welding, riv-eting or screwing.
Connector fixingThe underfloor duct is fastened to the substrateusing the connection shackle. Additionalfastening within a duct length is not required.
Mounting, riser bendRiser bends can be easily mounted as wallconnections for insertion of cables in the un-derfloor system. The connection is simple tomake and uses a duct connector.
End cap mountingThe underfloor duct is closed with an end clos-ure section, suitable for each duct size. Theend connection can simply be inserted into theduct without any screwing.
Prefabricated duct mountingThis means that the cable routing system hasbeen laid. The cables can be laid before thescreed is applied (except for poured asphalt)or after the screed is applied, as for any install-ation at a later date.

Mounting aid, underfloor box UZD/UGD
Fastening the underfloor boxFasten the underfloor box to the raw screed.
Adjusting the box heightUnderfloor boxes have a minimum constructionheight of 70 mm and a height adjustmentrange of 55 mm. Differences between the boxconstruction height and the set screed heightcan either be compensated using height-adjust-ment screws or using the quick release aid.
Pre-adjustment of the box heightThe four pins of the quick release aid are inser-ted in the holes. Then the box height can beadjusted by lifting it. When the height has beenadjusted, remove the pins.
Fine adjustment of the box heightThe height of the underfloor box can be adjus-ted using a screwdriver (Pozidrive size 2).
Process side wallsThe side walls of the underfloor boxes areopened using pliers appropriate to the ductsizes (e.g. side cutters), and the strap createdbent upwards.
Insertion of the ductThe trunking is inserted into the box body up tothe stop. When laying other asymmetrical (2-compartment) duct, ensure that the printing onthe joints matches.
Fine adjustment of the box heightThe fine adjustment of the box height takesplace using the height adjustment bolts. Theheight adjustment should be agreed with theconstruction/screed company (metre cracks).
Earthing of the duct systemConductive connections between duct and un-derfloor boxes can be created using the con-nection bracket VW/E.
Use of a separating layerWhen used in floating screed/heated screedson insulation layers, the box can be separatedfrom the screed by a separating layer (of up to3 mm thick), which reaches to under the boxtop frame.

Incorrect processingAlways talk to the screed layer. Installation er-rors such as those shown here mean that thefirm seat of the box is not guaranteed.
Mount stacking aidRelease the locking lid and lightly turn out thebolts. Insert a quick release aid and lift out thebolt.
Mount stacking aidRemove the box top cover upwards and re-place any existing fall plates with the new fallplates.
Decoupling from outsideAfter screed laying, the top frame of the under-floor box can be decoupled from the box base.To do this, release the locking lid, insert thequick release aids and remove the height-ad-justment screws.
Decoupling from insideRemove the mounting protection lid and thefour locking lids from the underfloor box. Gripthe slider with two fingers and pull it inwards.Remove the height adjustment screws up-wards.
After decouplingPlace the locking lid back in the box top frame.
Earthing of the box top frameMount the earth conductor clamp 8AWR in thefloor plate and connect the earth conductor tothe earthing cable.
Insert blanking lidThe blank protection lid is replaced with ablanking lid after screed-laying. Note: duringthe construction phase, openings must be pro-tected against footfall.
Complete installationReplacing the mounting protection lid with aDUG.. blanking lid turns a UZD junction andbranch box into a UZD underfloor box.

System description, screed-covered duct system, self-levelling
Single-compartment PVC duct sys-tems, multi-compartment metalducts and installation pipes aresuitable for cable routing beneathscreed layers.Underfloor outlet boxes are usedat crossing points in screed-covered duct routes and in theduct route, and, depending on thelevel of expansion, allow access tothe cables in the duct or the in-stallation of electrical devices. The
box bodies are made from galvan-ised sheet steel with a zinc coatingof 275 g/m² according to EN10327 DX51D+Z275-N-A-C and, during the mounting period, areclosed off with a plastic screedprotection cover. This means thatthe interior is also protectedagainst soiling during the screedwork. After screed laying, the sec-tion of the screed protection coverabove the screed is removed. The
service outlet or the inspectioncover can be installed directly inthe opening created. The screed structure is an import-ant precondition for correct under-floor installation. In the case of ascreed-covered system, it is im-portant that the screed thicknessabove the duct is sufficient toavoid the formation of cracks.
Installation with PVC ductSelf-levelling underfloor box with PVC duct sys-tem.
Installation with metal duct and installationpipeSelf-levelling underfloor boxes can be usedwith metal duct systems or installation pipes.
Junction and branch boxThe self-levelling underfloor box is used as ajunction and branch box at intersections ofscreed-covered duct systems. The top openingis closed with an inspection cover at a latertime.

Floor covering and installation measurements for service outlets
Important measurements for mounting: 1 = thickness of the floor covering in the lid, 2 = size of the floor section, 3 = measurements of the floor cover-ing in the lid
When mounting rectangular ser-vice outlets certain floor coveringsection and installation measure-ments must be considered. Youcan find all the relevant informationon the following pages. The colourred always indicates the potentialthickness of the floor covering inthe lid, blue indicates the size ofthe floor section required by thesystem. The black measurementsindicate the dimensions of thefloor covering in the lid.

System description, service outlet, dry-care
According to the standard, roundor rectangular flush-mount GES in-stallation units can only be used indry rooms with dry-cleaned floors. They are installed in empty mount-ing boxes and ducts of the appro-priate underfloor systems and onraised or cavity floors (only roundservice outlets for cavity floors). The minimum installation depth is73 mm for service outlets with a5 mm floor covering recess in thehinged cover or 78 mm for serviceoutlets with a 10 mm floor cover-ing recess. These installation di-
mensions are without the floor cov-ering. Service outlets consist of thecarpet protection frame includingmounting box insertion frame withladders for stepped lowering of theservice outlets in 5 mm steps tomax. 20 mm and a hinged cover, which is captive, lockable and self-closing in the carpet protectionframe. The hinged cover pos-sesses a stable pressure platemade of galvanised 4 mm sheetsteel, a swivellable cord outlet withfoam seal and a lowerable handleclamp to open the cover. A recess
in the hinged cover accepts thefloor covering. Due to the installa-tion compartments for sockets, werecommend using angular con-nectors to connect consumers. The connector height (measuredwithout contact pins) may varybetween 36 and 56 mm. For con-nector heights of 46 mm, thescreed height must be at least 83or 88 mm (for service outlets with10 mm floor covering recess).
GES mounting in duct systemsInsert the service outlet into the mounting open-ing from above and screw it tight. The fasteningunit grips under the screed protection cover.
Rectangular stainless steel service outletAll the visible surfaces are made of stainlesssteel.
Round metal service outletRound metal service outlet for dry and wet-care floor coverings.

System description, service outlet, wet-cleaned
The round service outlet GRAF 9for wet-cleaned floors is designedfor installation in the covers of un-derfloor accessory sockets andducts of the appropriate underfloorsystems and in raised and cavityfloors. The minimum required in-stallation depth is 75 mm. Thedevice insert consists of a protect-ive floor covering frame or a flush-floor contact frame and a hingedcover, which is captured in theprotective frame/contact frame,
can be locked and falls shut auto-matically. The hinged cover has avariable-height cord outlet (tubebody) with seals, and the hingedcover is protected against the in-gress of moisture by an all-roundseal. The top side of the GRAF9 isstructured using concentric rings(rises and coloured grooves). Asash lock closes the cover in theframe. Due to the installation com-partments for sockets, we recom-mend using angular connectors to
connect consumers. The serviceoutlet can be subjected to individu-al loads of up to 7500 N (100 x150 mm). A heavy-duty blankinglid must be used for installation inunderfloor boxes. In the case ofthin floor coverings made of stoneor ceramics, we recommend addi-tional stiffening of the underfloorbox using heavy-duty lid supportsDSSL2.
Lid closingA sash lock closes the lid in the frame. After re-lease (e.g. with a small coin), the lid is raisedby spring force and can be opened simply.
Cable in-feedThe consumer cables are inserted through theopened tube body with the opened lid and thenconnected in the installed connection sockets. Then the lid of the service outlet is pusheddown and locked and the lid of the tube bodyattached.
Underfloor boxThe accessories for power supply, telecommu-nications and data technology are mounted inseparate mounting boxes or mounting box sec-tions made of insulation material. All the incom-ing and outgoing connection cables must havestrain relief.

System description of new tube body
Basic tube body functionsThe tube body is made entirely ofdie-cast zinc. Struts on the under-side of the upper cover give it ahigh load capacity when not beingused. It can be operated with one hand. When unused and when the lid isopen, it can pushed up from in-side. Turning it slightly to the leftfixes the position. There are pres-sure areas on the four supports, which release the tube body coverfrom the tube body ring. Whenthey have been actuated - actu-ation of two pressure areas is suffi-cient - the tube body can be liftedoff. The entire opening is thenavailable to pass through large-volume connectors. When thecables have been connected tothe accessories, the lid of theGRAF9-2 service outlet is closedagain and the tube body cover en-gaged.The unused state is achievedagain by lowering the tube bodycover (by pressing the pressuresurfaces), a slight turn to the rightand flush-floor lowering.
Tube body sealThe tube body possesses twoseals, which ensure moisture pro-tection when used - lower seal -and when unused - upper seal. Both seals require regular cleaningand care. The cleaning agent is, ofcourse, contained in the scope ofdelivery of the GRAF9-2.

System description of the tube body according to EN 50085-2-2
The TUK2 tube body - the new di-mensionThe new TUK2 tube body allowsthe passing through of large-volume connector systems. It issuitable for high traffic loads and, depending on the version, coveredwith a floor covering.
Conforms with EN 50085-2-2The new product standard EN50085-2-2 places two primary re-
quirements on cable exits in wet-care floors: when used, moistureprotection must be guaranteed toup to 10 mm above the floor and, when unused, the opening shouldbe locked in such a way as to of-fer step protection. In both states, there must be sure protectionagainst the ingress of water on thefloor. The new tube body fulfils allthe requirements of the standardregarding moisture protection.
Three tube body versionsFor the use in wet-cleaned floorsthe following versions are avail-able: with smooth surface andhandle clamp, with smooth surfacewithout handle clamp and withfloor covering recess and a handleclamp.
TUK2 GV with smooth surface and handleclamp. The handle clamp is flush with the surface inthe tube body and can be lifted without anyaids.
TUK2 V with smooth surface without handleclampThe upper end plate is made of brushed stain-less steel and gives a fine appearance to thetube body. A suction lifter is required for open-ing.
TUK2 G4 with a floor covering recess and ahandle clampThe recess is 4 mm deep and is used to ac-cept cut-resistant floor coverings.

System description, frame cassette
Frame cassettes are suitable forthe top closure of an underfloordraw and junction box in dry, moistor wet-cleaned floors. They arefastened directly on an underfloorjunction and branch box withoutthe use of a blanking lid. The cas-sette frame is fastened to the boxbody using four fastening screws
and forms an all-round contactedge for the neighbouring floorcovering. The cassette is laid inthe junction and branch box andruns flush to the cassette frame. All the versions have a seal whichacts either as knock protection oras moisture protection. The cas-settes are made from stainless
steel or brass and thus match thecolour of the floor coverings. Thecassettes contain a 4 mm thicksheet steel plate, for safe absorp-tion of the traffic loads. The cas-settes are available for differentfloor covering thicknesses of 10,15, 20 and 25 mm.
Inspection opening versionThe "blank" version RK is suitable for the topclosure of an inspection opening. A suction lift-er or magnetic lifter is required for opening.Area of use: Dry, moist or wet-cleaned floorcovering.
Cord outlet versionThe "for cord outlet" version (RKS) is intendedfor use in dry and moist-cleaned floors. Thecord outlet must be ordered separately.
Tube body versionThe "for tube body" version (RKF) is intendedfor use in wet-cleaned floors. A continuous sealprotects all the openings against the ingress ofmoisture. The tube body must be ordered sep-arately.

Floor socket GES R2 for wet-cleaned floors
The tube body seals the closed installation space against the ingress ofwater, which occurs, for example, when the floor is cleaned. Even if thetube body lid is open for letting out cables, a seal in the lower ring of theinstallation socket offers protection against the ingress of water. The GESR2 floor socket with tube body thus fulfils the requirements for serviceoutlets in wet-cleaned floors according to EN 50085-2-2.
Tube body
The tube body can be operated with one hand. Toopen it, the handle clamp is pulled up and, after theaudible engaging of the support, turned slightly leftand locked.
To insert the cables, it is sufficient to press two pres-sure points to release the lid. After the connectorshave been inserted, the lid is audibly engaged on thetube body ring. The tube body lid is closed again bypressing the pressure points and lowering the lid byturning it to the right slightly.

Mounting of the underfloor socket in the screed
Installation in the screed box
The GES R2 floor sockets are installed in the screedin the compact screed box. The screed box pos-sesses a stabile pressure acceptance plate, whoseframe serves as the screed drip edge. The mountingprotection lid of the screed box is knocked out afterthe screed work has been completed. This makes theinstallation opening for the service outlet accessible.
Connection
Cables are routed via flexible installation pipes in theinsulation layer of the screed construction. The screedbox possesses four break-out pipe entries.

PA Polyamide—Temperature resistance:permanently up to approx. 90 °C, briefly up to about 130 °Cand to about minus 40 °C*. Chem. resistance generally as for polyethylene.Resistant toPetrol, benzene, diesel oil, acetone, solvents for paints and lacquers, oils and greases.Unstable withBleach, most acids, chlorine.Risk of tension crackingLow in air-humid conditions; only with some aqueous salt solutions. Highly desiccated parts (high temperature and extremely low airhumidity) are highly sensitive to fuels and various solvents.
PVC Polyvinylchloride—Temperature resistance:permanently up to 65 °C, briefly up to 75 °C and to about minus 30°C.Resistant toWeak acids, alkalis, oils and greases, petrol.Unstable withStrong acids, benzene, acetone, iodine, toluene, trichloroethylene.Risk of tension crackingLow, only with some solvents such as benzene and acetone.
PS Polystyrene—Temperature resistance:Because of its relatively high sensitivity to the effects of chemicals, itsuse is not recommended at temperatures above normal roomtemperature, about 25 °C.Resistance to cold: to about minus 40 °C*.Resistant toAlkalis, most acids, alcohol.Conditionally resistant toOils and greases.Unstable withButyric acid, concentrated nitric acid, concentrated acetic acid, acetone, ether, petrol and benzene, solvents for paints and lacquers, chlorine, diesel fuel.Risk of tension crackingRelatively high. Stress cracks can be caused by, amongst other things, acetone, ether, petrol, cyclohexane, heptane, methanol, propanol and the softenersused in some PVC cable mixes.
PC/ABS Polycarbonate/Acrylnitrile-butadiene-styrene—
Temperature resistance:minus 30 °C to 90 °C, briefly up to approx. 105 °C, melting range atapprox. 200 °C, thermal decomposition at 300 °C. Materialthicknesses of 1.5 mm or more can achieve UL94 V-0. At materialthicknesses of 1 mm of more, the glow wire temperature of 960 °Caccording to IEC 60695-2-12 is achieved.Resistant toMineral acids, organic acids and aqueous salt solutionsConditionally resistant toAlkalis, hydrocarbons, aromatics and (in trace form) a series ofgreases and oils.
PC Polycarbonate—
*The minus values apply only for parts in the quiescent condition withno severe impact stress. There is no plastic that is resistant to every chemical. The agents listedare only a small selection. Plastic parts are especially at risk in thepresence of chemicals and high temperatures. Stress cracks mayoccur. If in doubt, please consult us and/or ask for a detailed chemicalresistance table.Stress crack formation: stress cracks may occur if plastic parts undertension are exposed to chemicals at the same time. Parts made ofpolystyrene and polyethylene are particularly susceptible. Stress cracksmay even be caused by agents to which the plastic in question isresistant in the absence of stress. Typical examples of parts underconstant stress when used as intended: grip clips, intermediatesupports of cable glands, ribbon clips.
Temperature resistance:permanently up to approx. 110 °C (in water 60 °C), briefly up to 125°C, and to below minus 35 °C.Resistant toPetrol, turpentine, most weak acids.Unstable withAcetone, benzene, chlorine, methylene chloride, most concentratedacids.Risk of tension crackingRelatively low.Media which can cause tension cracking include benzene, aromatichydrocarbons, methanol, butanol, acetone, turpentine.
