DSCP working procurement of MBUs and selected parts including power converters.

• Awaiting final contract approval

Production ramp up time approximately 180 days after award.• First deliveries estimated May 09 if Nov 08 award

Shortfall of MBUs and power converters to support field requisitions – all electric kitchen options being procured

Shortfall of MBUs and power converters to support production of AK, CK and FSC

• PM FSS recovering MBUs from DRMO• 70 operational MBUs recovered to date, 0 power converters

DSCP to pursue long term contract for future availability

MBU Based CK Improvements

• Objective(s):– Comprehensively address the

pre-planned product improvements called for in the CK ORD

– Eliminate the need for a separate field sanitation center and its associated transportation asset

– Increase worker safety, comfort and effectiveness.

• Capability Provided:– Thermostatically controlled appliances provide greater user

flexibility while maintaining capability to feed 800 warfighters, three meals/day

– Integrated Food Sanitation Center onboard that meets the requirements of the FSC ORD

Page 7: UNCLASSIFIED Army Field Feeding Systems. UNCLASSIFIED Army Field Feeding Systems Vision: To provide the right food service equipment to Army Combatant

UNCLASSIFIED

MBU Based CK Improvements

• Current CK work environment is very hot– MBUs release much of their heat

generated into kitchen environment – Air conditioning system does little

to control heat
