UMW News June 15th is the next meeting of UMW at 7pm at the church. The program is on "Prayer and self-denial". So what is "Prayer and self-denial" about? This is an annual observance in UMW that gives us an opportunity to study and reflect on a particular theme each year and to designate our personal giving to UMW mission area. 2016 offering will support national and international programs that empower women to gain the resources they need to earn a living wage so they can take care of themselves and their loved ones. Projects will include job skills training, small business development assistance and similar programs. The idea of self-denial is that each of us as UMW women are willing to deny ourselves some specific purchase so that those less fortunate will have support to better their lives. What are you willing to deny ourselves for another? Program leader is Nancy Hussey with Norma Greenough as hostess. We see you there in mission together. Second Sunday POT LUCK + PLUS! UMW News June 15th is the next meeting of UMW at 7pm at the church.

The program is on "Prayer and self-denial". So what is "Prayer and self-denial" about? This is an

annual observance in UMW that gives us an opportunity to study and reflect on a particular theme

each year and to designate our personal giving to UMW mission area.

2016 offering will support national and international programs that empower women to gain the

resources they need to earn a living wage so they can take care of themselves and their loved ones.

Projects will include job skills training, small business development assistance

and similar programs.

The idea of self-denial is that each of us as UMW women are willing to deny ourselves some

specific purchase so that those less fortunate will have support to better their lives.

What are you willing to deny ourselves for another?

Program leader is Nancy Hussey with Norma Greenough as hostess.

We see you there in mission together.

Pastor’s Corner As most of you already know, I am a series preacher who reads various books to explore content

matter for the congregation which I believe would be both interesting and spiritually beneficial

to preach upon. I have done this since last fall, but this summer I will be doing something new.

I am letting the congregation be the driving force in determining each week’s topic. As such, I

am requesting questions from you all which will be the springboard for each Sunday’s message.

Your questions may be in regard to the bible, doctrine, or any other faith related question you

may have. Nothing is off limits! From the questions you submit, I will select ones that I can

associate with a scripture to read from and incorporate into answering the question. I will not

mention the name of the questioner; so you may either respond to me via email with your

question, or you may fill out a note card which I will be handing out in worship over the next

couple of weeks.

This series will run through Labor Day, so I will need many, and a variety of questions to make

this work. So please put on your thinking caps and hit me with your best shot. Pastors don’t

have divine knowledge of course, but I hope to ponder your questions deeply, and at least share

some ideas which might cause you to think about a subject just a little bit differently.

Thanks in advance for your questions, and my blessings to each of you always

Pastor Mark

“You are the light of the world. A city (church) on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to

everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16

ONE THING June

The Missions Committee has planned a Habitat for Humanity work

day for Saturday, June 18th

from 9am-3pm. We will be working with

Habitat’s Home Preservation Program to help a family in need who

lives in the community of Buffalo Gap. Some of the approved projects

include painting, building a wheelchair ramp, and constructing a picket

fence. There will be a construction manager on site leading and

directing our team; so all skill levels are welcome and needed!

This will be a great opportunity for fellowship as well as team building

within our congregation, so please mark your calendars and plan to

join in serving a neighbor, while building the Kingdom of God.
