II. GUI conventions
Convention Description
< > Button names are inside angle brackets. For example, click the <OK> button.
[ ] Window names, menu items, data table and field names are inside square brackets. For example, pop up the [New User] window.

III. Keyboard operation
Format Description
<Key> Press the key with the key name inside angle brackets. For example, <Enter>, <Tab>, <Backspace>, or <A>.
<Key1+Key2> Press the keys concurrently. For example, <Ctrl+Alt+A> means the three keys should be pressed concurrently.
IV. Mouse operation

1.1 Overview of RAN Documentation
HUAWEI UMTS Radio Access Network (RAN) system is supported by the following customer documentation:
Product manuals: Product manuals are presented in the form of printed documents or PDF documents. They are generally delivered with the hardware equipment.
Online helps: Online help is an integral part of O&M GUI interface. It includes operation guide for each window and each task. You can easily access the online help with a hot key. Online helps are generally release and delivered with software.
Release notes: Release Notes is one of the upgrade documents. New product always comes up with its release notes.
These documents can be classified under different categories. This chapter covers the following topics

5.2 Your Role in the Scenario for Operation and Maintenance
The documents correspond to different product lifecycle phases. Figure 5-1 illustrates the documents applicable to the product lifecycle phases. This figure gives you an idea about which documents most suitable for your current work.

System Commissioning guides you to commission the system after software installation.
As a field engineer in system commissioning, get a basic understanding of the product from the following documents:
Documentation Guide describes how to use product manuals, online helps and release notes.
System Description introduces system functions, features and technical indexes. It provides general product information for you.
Cabinets and Cables, and Boards provide hardware information, for example, board indicators and DIP switches/jumpers, which provide reference information for System Commissioning.
System commissioning is to verify and commission the physical and logical objects, especially those established during hardware and software installation. Understand the preparation of the system for system commission from the installation manual.
Hardware Installation describes how to install the product after its delivery to the site. The hardware installation and cable connection recorded serve as input for System Commissioning, Data Configuration.
Software Installation describes how to install software.
If you identify any faults during system commissioning and if hardware installation and software installation are verified, you can refer to data configuration manual, test online help, alarm online help, maintenance manual - troubleshooting, signaling analysis manual.
Data Configuration describes how to configure the system and to modify the system configuration. Use MML command online help as reference for the parameters configured in this manual.

Troubleshooting guides you to remove general faults during system commission. Parts Replacement guides you to replace a faulty board or part.
You perform system commissioning through LMT; the LMT online help gives you quick reference.
Operation and Maintenance Online Help guide you to use the interfaces and their functions.
Alarm Online Help provides the meaning and handling suggestions of each alarm.
Performance Online Help provides detailed explanation of the performance items and the related operations.

5.4 RAN Shift Operator in Alarm Handling
Figure 5-3 illustrates the alarm management system of M2000.

1) Double click the alarm with the serial number of 1155 to display the [Alarm Details] window, as shown in Figure 5-3.
2) Click <More information> to see the help information about this alarm, as shown in Figure 5-3.
3) Handle the alarm according to alarm handling provided in the online help.

Download the electronic product manuals and upgraded documents through the following procedure:
