Introduction

• In 2014, SRVGAL launched a new website for publishing league news and information, registration, game scheduling and more.

• The website can be accessed at www.srvgal.org

• The new website is based on a league management system, developed by League Athletics, for managing sports leagues.

• Umpires use the website for annual registration, signing up to officiate games and managing their schedule.

Navigation

• The content of the site is organized under the vertical menu tabs shown and listed below:– League – information about our league, rules, governance, board members, registration, calendars

and events– Team (currently only visible when logged in) – but this is where team members will go to access their

team pages, with schedules, rosters and team news.– Resources – Fields and Facility information, Parent Handbook, forms and documents, etc.– Umpires – Information about umpiring and umpire schedules– Sponsors – Information on how to become a sponsor and a list of current sponsors– Academy – Information on the Academy and schedule – Travel Ball – Information on our travel programs, and links to http://www.norcalvalleystompers.org/,

our A-Ball travel website, which is also running on League Athletics

• Please be sure to take some time to click around the website and familiarize yourself with the content.

Umpire Functionality

Umpires can do the following on the website:

1. Sign in to access Umpire features

2. Update your Availability for games that will be assigned to you

3. View Umpire News

4. Sign up to officiate a game

5. View, download or print your Schedule

6. Handling Cancellations

7. Edit your Account information

The following slides will demonstrate how to perform these functions.

1. Sign in

• To access the Umpire functionality, you must first Sign in to the website using the email address and password you used to register.

• The Sign in button is located near the top right side of the website. If you forgot your password, click the Forgot Password link and follow the instructions.

2. Update Availability

Once signed in, you will be taken to the Officials Area where you can update your availability for umpiring games. Check the boxes to indicate the days of the week and times when you are available to work and click Save. This information will be used when games are assigned to you by the Umpire Coordinator. If you leave the page blank, the assumption is that you are available for any shift.

3. View Umpire News

Umpire News will be posted on the Officials Area, below the General Availability section. Important News will also go out via email or text message.

4. Sign up to Officiate a game

1. To Sign up to work a game, first, navigate to the Master Schedule on the League tab. The schedule is shown 1 week at a time, so click the double arrows to advance the schedule. Games start on March 21st.

2. Find a game that you want to work, and look in the offl column. Assignedindicates that umpires have already signed up for that game.

3. Not Assigned, means that there are still positions available for this game, and that you are qualified to work that game. Click the Not Assigned drop down arrow to see what positions are still needed. In the case below, at 2pm, there is a 5th/6th Grade White game at 2pm at Rancho Romero school between teams 353 and 351 that needs a Base Umpire Level 1-4, as well as a Plate umpire of Level 1-4.

4. Select the position you want and a confirmation pop up will appear.

5. Click OK on the confirmation pop up and the game you just signed up to work will appear in Green, showing you that you are assigned as the Base Ump for this game.

7. If umpires are needed for a game, but no one has self assigned for it, the Umpire Coordinator will assign a game to you, based on the availability you entered. You will receive an email like the one below, and a text message (if you entered your mobile provider when you registered), asking you to confirm or decline your ability to work the game. Please respond promptly to these requests, so that other umpires can be found, if needed.

Note: The following Officials Skill Level Matrix will be used to determine which officials are eligible to officiate games, by division. The Master Schedule is configured with this skill information, so that you will only see games you are eligible to sign up for. Contact the Umpire Coordinator if you think there may have been a mistake in setting up your Skill Level.

5. View, Download and Print Your Schedule

In order to view your schedule, on the Officials Area page, click My Schedule and your schedule page will appear.

From your Schedule page, click the Options drop down on the top right side of the page to update your calendar, download a CSV copy or print your schedule.

6. Handling Cancellations

• In the event that you need to cancel a game that you previously signed up for, go to your My Schedule page and in the Confirmed column, change the confirmation status from N/A or Accepted to Declined.

• Note, you can only Cancel or Decline a game 2 weeks or more before the event. In the event that you need to cancel less than 2 weeks before your scheduled game, notify Mark Serrano as soon as possible. “No Shows” are not acceptable.

7. Edit My Account

• To update your account information, including your email address or mobile phone number, go to the Edit My Account page on the League Menu.

• If you want to receive text messages, you must select your mobile carrier from the Provider list.

• League Athletics provides extensive context sensitive Help documentation and Video instruction throughout the website. Simply click the Help button usually found in the top right corner of the page and help content will pop up in a separate browser tab.
