Produced by Johnny K (Megadeth, Disturbed, 3 Doors Down, Airbourne), the album was recorded in the band’s hometown of Chicago and contains the straight-up rock n’ roll meets garage/punk rock sound for which the band has come to be known. Stan Bowmen, a brilliant Scottish engineer was on hand both evenings to record this unique band, in the full flower of their artistry. You're there thirty two years later to relive and enjoy these memorable nights. Led by Bob Wilber, Soprano Sax and Clarinet, co-led by Glenn Zottola on trumpet, the tandem front line proceeded to present Bechet originals, Ellington masters and Armstrong classics in a manner not equaled nor surpassed since. With A Little help From My Friends” is the first studio album by Volker Kriegel, Germany’s best jazz guitarist. The album was produced in 1968 in two parts, side A by Klaus Doldinger and side B by Sigi Loch. The recordings had been vanished for forty years - since 1971 when Liberty Records fell into insolvency. This first official re-release presents the complete album of thirty-two minutes playtime and was enhanced by 50 minutes of bonus material from 1968, consisting of performances in Frankfurt at the 11th Deutsches Jazz Festival and from the Hamburg Jazzhouse.

Bobby Jaspar was among the very few European jazz players able to establish themselves on the American scene in the '50s and '60s; within two months of his arrival in New York he has joined J.J. Johnson's quintet, in which his colleagues included first Hank Jones, then Tommy Flanagan and Elvin Jones. Before coming to the U.S., Jaspar had been a founding member of Belgium's first post-war bebop band, and had worked with Chet Baker, The Blues Stars (a forerunner of the Swingle Singers), and married Blossom Dearie. This excellent recording features tracks from four separate dates in Paris, from '53 to '54, and is a welcome addition to the collection of any fan.

Trumpeter Jonah Jones had an episodic and very colorful career full of memorable highlights. Born on New Year's Eve 1909 in Louisville, Jones began his career playing on Mississippi riverboats in the late 1920s. He played with a few territory bands in the Midwest and was briefly with Jimmie Lunceford in 1931, worked with violinist Stuff Smith in Buffalo (1932-34), and was with several big bands. Jones hit it big with he rejoined Smith and they were based at the Onyx Club on 52nd Street during 1936-40. Many of his solos with the violinist were quite spectacular, perfectly fitting the fast tempos.
