Reminders If you take something from the library or the library cart, please sign it out! Also, we are missing our DVD For the Bible Tells Me So. Please bring it to the office if you have it. Thanks! Please don‟t send children down to the nursery without adult supervision. The nursery staff has found toys scattered and the toddlers‟ snacks eaten. We have a Casserole Ministry to provide home-cooked meals for our church folks those first few days after hospitalization or surgery. Please phone Nanette Kibbey-Scribner or the church office if you or someone you know needs this ministry.

It’s Petunia Time! Now that the pe-tunias have been planted to beautify our city streets, please join us in main-taining our church block (west side of
city marina—Ferry Street). We plan to weed on Wednesday mornings at 10:30. It‟s a great opportu-nity to bond with friends, appreciate the beautiful marina waterfront, greet summer visitors and make a difference for our community. This time doesn‟t work for you? Feel free to stop by and pull a few weeds any time! Carol Pehrson & Kathy Radtke

Dear Family and Friends:
Life is good. It‟s been three months since my surgery for breast cancer. Due to my trust in God, and prayers and well wishes sent my way, all is well. I‟ve learned to appreciate an unhurried life and devel-oped patience with myself. Thanks again.
God bless you.
Love, Mary Walker

Thank you so much to the wonderful group of Methodist men who cheerfully served at the Mother/Daughter Banquet this year AND cleaned up afterwards. Those men who worked that evening included Steve Begnoche, Allan Carlson, Jim Clark, Tom Evans, Dennis Genson, Don Gohn, Dave Hamman, Gregg Heimall, Bob Johnson, Norm Lyon, Bill Olmstead, Kirk Myers, Ted Schwass, Max Schipper, Dan Sleeman, Stub Willick, Lew Wilson, Dennis Tabor, and Lee Vaught. Thank you very much!
Thank you also to the ladies who were especially re-sponsible for making the Mother/Daughter Banquet such an enjoyable night — Janice Wolff and her kitchen crew for the delicious food, Barb Bush and Dona Gottwald for creating and arranging for the program and planning the table décor, all the women and girls who took part in the program and tributes, and Jane Clark for willingly designing and printing the attractive programs for the evening. It was a very special evening that was enjoyed by about 150 women and girls. Thank you so much to all those
who helped make it so nice!
Karen Genson, United Methodist Women President
Sunday School officially ended for the academic year on May 22 with Sundae Sunday, and will resume in early September.
We will recognize and celebrate all our Christian educators at the 9:30
Christian Educators’ Appreciation Service June 5. Please see the list of educators on page 5.
Beginning June 5 and continuing through August 28, we will have Son Shine Kids during the 9:30 service for children entering Kindergarten through those having completed fourth grade. Children leave the sanctuary during the offering time* for a children‟s message in the Sunday School Gathering Room, fol-lowed by a snack and playtime outside.
Vacation Bible School is June 27 through July 1. See the ad on page 6 and the VBS registration form on page 7. Even if your child was enrolled in our Nursery or Sunday School during the 2010-2011 aca-demic year, you need to fill out a VBS registration form. We will use those forms for the 2011-2012 academic year as well. The registration forms are also available online and at the church office, and you may register your children in the narthex on June 19 and 26. Please register early!
*Occasionally the children‟s message will be in the sanctuary.

Guidelines for Interment in United Methodist Church of Ludington
Memorial Garden
Editor’s Note: The Memorial Garden is located on the northwest side of the church.
The Memorial Committee shall maintain an aestheti-cally beautiful garden to be used to place ashes after cremation. There is no set fee for interment in the Garden. However, most families who avail them-selves of the garden wish to make some contribution to the Memorial Fund to aid in the perpetual care and landscaping. These gifts directed to the Memo-rial Committee are usually at least $100 or more. While these gifts are thankfully received, they are not required. We feel that the Garden provides an im-portant service at the time of great need. We don‟t want anyone deprived of these services because of financial considerations. A request for burial shall be submitted to the Pastor with the time of committal mutually agreed upon between clergy and the family. The Pastor will con-duct a short prayer service at the time of placement. A member of the Memorial Committee or a person designated as a representative will also be present. Family members‟ attendance is optional with a signed waiver. The cremains will be accepted accord-ing to the wishes of the person‟s valid Will or the person‟s family. Ashes of any baptized Christian hu-man are acceptable. Ashes can be placed directly into the soil or, for the comfort of the family, a bio-degradable container can be used at the discretion of the Pastor and Memorial Committee. We respectfully request no plants or flowers be placed in the garden without prior approval from the Memorial Committee. Donations for flowers in planters will be gratefully accepted. A Memorial Board has been placed in the church with names, birth dates and death dates of the in-terred. A Master Plan noting burial sites has been prepared showing placement of cremains and is maintained by the Memorial Committee. (continued on page 9)
Relay for Life We‟re back (and again asking for your help), just like we promised af-ter the 2010 event. Our team raised nearly $9000 last year; badly needed
money to support those fighting cancer. Your par-ticipation is meaningful on many different levels, and is a statement that we are united in our fight against this disease. We hope you will join us to make up the United Methodist Church team. Dates: Noon July 11 through 10:00 am July 12 Opening ceremonies: Noon July 11 Place: Oriole Field, 700 Tinkham, Ludington 24 one-hour slots for walking are available on June 11 and 12. You may choose your walking time. We will have a signup table in the narthex May 22, May 29 and June 5. At that time you may sign up for a time slot, make a donation, or purchase luminaria. It is not necessary to collect money in order to walk, although individual team members who do collect $100 for RFL will receive a t-shirt. Luminaria can be purchased for $10 to honor a can-cer survivor or to honor the memory of a loved one. These will be placed around the Oriole Field track as part of the event. It is such a moving part of the Re-lay.
