The recorder’s modular design allows the data I/O to be easily configured. The unit is offered with two interchangeable I/O modules: variable rate data interface (VRDI) - at 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 16-bit LVDS symbols or analog. The analog interface can accept a standard 70 MHz IF input with 40 MHz of bandwidth real sampling (anti-aliasing and reconstruction filters) or 60 MHz bandwidth I/Q sampling (unfiltered) or in variable rate mode, the user can select a sample rate of their choosing up to 200 MHz with selectable bypass mode. Additional bandwidths supported are 5, 10, 15, and 30 MHz (I/Q format). A removable flash storage pack supports quick and easy installation and replacement of 1024, 2048 or 3840 GByte storage media. Command and control is implemented with a remote Java GUI through a Gigabit Ethernet interface. The GUI supports spectral display during record and playback. Spectral inversion is selectable on the input path and the output path. Multiple Modular Scouts are controlled through the same GUI with Multiple Unit Control (MUC). An embedded GPS receiver supplies timing and location information. Recorded data may be accessed by direct playback, transferred through the Ethernet interface, or transferred by connecting the DRS removable flash storage pack to a workstation. An LCD display and push button control facilitates operation without the Ethernet interface. MODULAR SCOUT SOLID STATE RECORDER ULTRA-SMALL AND RUGGED DATA RECORDER

The Modular Scout Solid-State Recorder is a customizable, ultra-small and rugged wideband data recorder designed to capture and store large amounts of data at various speeds, to meet specific requirements.

The GUI

supports spectral display during record and playback.
