INTRODUCTION TO AT-PAC
Since 1995, AT-PAC has off ered Complete Scaff olding Solutions to our strategic clients throughout the world, matching our expertise to the specifi c needs of our Customers. With our extensive experience in the industrial market, we specialise in Oil, Gas & Chemicals, Power & Energy and Mining & Refi ning projects. AT-PAC hires and sells the highest quality products by ensuring that our production processes adhere to our rigorous quality assurance program and quality control.
AT-PAC has locations throughout the UK, USA, Canada, Australia and South America. We currently supply Asia-Pacifi c, Africa, the Middle East and beyond. Our unparalleled expertise and professionalism enables us to consistently deliver Complete Scaff olding Solutions. Our experienced customer driven team provides a seamless service from product development, supply chain management, production, quality control, delivery with local engineering support available for fast eff ective solutions where required.
AT-PAC Ring System is a modular system scaff old which has been combined with alternative similar components. When RINGLOCK components have been used together with components of a compatible system, all safe working loads in the following tables have been limited to the system with the lowest capacity. This enables users to quickly and effi ciently erect, use and dismantle temporary work structures. The AT-PAC Ring System system conforms to European standards BS EN12810 and BS EN12811. AT-PAC Ring System is compliant with The National Access & Scaff olding Confederation (NASC) Code of Practice for System Scaff old.
This hire document is for Ringlock combined with alternative compatible components.
AT-PAC LTD. is a Non-Contracting Full Member of the National Access & Scaff olding Confederation

TECHNICAL MANUAL (HIRE ONLY)Ring System Quality Factors & Designation
RING SYSTEM
RING SYSTEM QUALITY FACTORSAll of AT-PAC Euro range of Ring System products are engineered to meet the highest quality standards based on three simple factors:
MATERIAL We only use the highest quality steel in our products. Our steel is certifi ed and tested, it conforms to or exceeds industry standards no matter the location or climate.
FIT AT-PAC products are engineered with versatility and usability in mind. Our modifi ed product designs increase effi ciencies and productivity, saving your projects time and money.
FINISH Where applicable, our products are fi nished and protected by hot-dipped zinc galvanising. This method of fi nishing maximises the utilisation and extends the product life.
DESIGNATION OF RING SYSTEMThe Designation of Ring System in accordance with BS EN 12810-1:2003 is:
Scaff old EN 12810 – 4D – SW109/307 – H1 – B – LS
Service Load Class 4 may be extended from Service Load Class 1 to Service Load Class 6 if required although there are restriction on bay length for Service Load Classes 5 and 6. This Technical Manual only considers Service Load Class 1 to Class 4 as the general loading required of a system scaff old under normal circumstances.
Service Load Class 4: The following combinations of platform width and bay length are also available:
SW06/73 to SW12/307
Cladding: Maximum permissible heights and tie patterns are given for both unsheeted, debris netted and sheeted scaff olds.
All designations for Ring System Scaff old are on the Ring System Scaff old Designation Certifi cate of Compliance included at the rear of this document.

DESIGN MATRIX FOR RING SYSTEM SYSTEM SCAFFOLD CATEGORIESUsers of Ring System may fi nd the following Design Matrix useful when assessing whether full Design or Technical Advice is required. The minimum requirements of information available to the Company management are split into three main categories and the following procedural notes and Design Matrix may be used to prepare the Method Statement and Risk Assessment for your project.
CATEGORY 3—INFORMAL DESIGN TECHNICAL ADVICE NOT REQUIRED
Refer to the Design Matrix for scaff olds that fall into this category. Scaff olds should be erected to comply with AT-PAC User Guide and the Work at Height Regulations, other current legislation, BS EN 12811-1 and where necessary TG20 (Latest Edition). Requirements for tying the scaff old to the permanent works, and the associated tying patterns are also included in this Ring System Technical Manual. Method Statements and Risk Assessments may be written using all data held here.
CATEGORY 2—ESTIMATOR/SUPERVISOR DESIGNED SCAFFOLDTECHNICAL ADVICE REQUIRED
If your own Design Department or Consultant is unable to assist, advice may be sought from AT-PAC UK Engineering team and this may be given verbally or be presented in the form of engineering solution advice or confi rmation. Method Statements and Risk Assessments may be made using all data held in this Ring System Technical Manual.
CATEGORY 1—ENGINEERED DESIGNED SCAFFOLD ENGINEERING DESIGN MANDATORY
This category of scaff old requires your Design Department or Consultant to prepare a design and/or layout details using the technical information contained in this Technical Manual. All technical information held in this Guide has been independently tested and analysed in accordance with BS EN 12810 and BS EN 12811.
We would recommend that a scaff old is not erected to a Preliminary Drawing because not all of the design may be complete and failure of the structure could arise in these circumstances. You should seek confi rmation from your Design Department or Consultant.

TECHNICAL MANUAL (HIRE ONLY)Stabilising Scaff olds, Tying & Bracing Patterns
RING SYSTEM
METHODS OF STABILISING SCAFFOLDS Where the height of a scaff old will exceed three times the smallest lateral base dimension, the scaff old may be stabilised by:
1. Attachment to a building or structure by means of ties; or
2. If the scaff old is not more than three lifts high then raker’s can be introduced in accordance with TG20 (latest edition).
3. Increasing the base dimension of the scaff old by buttressing with reference to TG20 (latest edition) to consider Height to Least Base dimensions before setting out the scaff old. Also, if necessary consult your local AT-PAC Engineering Offi ce for advice.
Please refer to the following Tie Patterns and Maximum Permissible Height Tables.
RING SYSTEM TYING AND BRACING PATTERNSThe following tying and bracing patterns cover 2.0m lift heights with 2 typical bracing patterns. The maximum height of the scaff old is dependent on the BS EN 12811-1 Load Class rating used. Other factors such as the S Factor, cantilever requirement and Debris Netting/ Clad requirements.
For example: A 2.0m lift using tie pattern B, Load Class 1, no inside cantilever platforms or cladding the scaff old can be erected up to 80m with an S-Factor of 20.
Note 1: Transoms and Ledgers must be placed in the lowest possible rosette irrespective of lowest platform position.
Note 2: Completed scaff olds must always be tied at the top lift.
Note 3: Up to two levels of cantilever platforms may be moved to intermediate levels at any one time to provide appropriate access.
