The Recreation and Athletic Center is one of the newest facilities in the Great Lakes Valley Conference open-ing in 2008. It is also the newest athletic facility in the city of Springfield and considered one of the crown jewels in NCAA Division II. The first event in TRAC was Sept. 28, 2008 when the volleyball defeated Stephens College 3-0. The Prairie Star women’s basketball team has a career 13-29 record in TRAC. TRAC is a 74,000 square foot building with three collegiate-length basketball and volleyball courts. It also has a full service fitness center that fea-tures a three-lane elevated running track, two racquetball courts that can also con-vert to squash courts. The recreation and athletic department offices are also housed in the TRAC, along with a state of the art athletic training of-fices. The training room offers four tables for student-athletes and a whirlpool. Along with hosting intercollegiate athlet-ics and intramurals for UIS, TRAC has also hosted two sell outs for Illinois Boys 2A Super Sectionals. The girls 2A super

sectional has also been at near capacity in the last two seasons as well. UIS has also hosted the GLVC Championship Final Four in 2010.

Marne Fauser is in her third season as the head women’s basketball at UIS. She was named to the position on May 7, 2009.

Fauser’s second season at the helm of the UIS women's basketball program saw the Prairie Stars more than double their victory total from the previous year winning eight games, the most by a UIS team since the 2006-07 campaign. UIS got hot down the stretch and recorded three victories in its final five games. Along with the improved victory total, Fauser’s squad also posted the program’s first victory in Great Lakes Valley Conference play, a 72-54 triumph over Rockhurst on January 22.

In her first season at UIS Fauser led the program through its initial campaign as a member of NCAA Division II and the rugged Great Lakes Valley Conference. Under her guidance, the team posted three victories including the program’s first in Division

II play.

Fauser came to UIS after spending a season as member of the women’s basketball coaching staff at Bradley. Before joining the Braves’ staff, Fauser spent the previous eight seasons as assistant coach at Truman State where she handled recruiting duties both nationally and internation-ally, managed all aspects of on the floor coaching and was the camp director for the Bulldogs. She also arranged film exchange and coordinated travel plans and scouting reports. During her tenure in Kirksville, Fauser helped the Bulldogs to a pair of victories against nationally-ranked teams and coached three post players to first-team all-conference honors. Fauser was a two-time letter winner at Illinois Central College in Peoria and helped the Cougars to a pair of regional championships and a fourth-place finish at the national tournament in the 1995-96 season. She moved on to Truman State prior to the 1996-97 season and earned honorable mention All-MIAA conference recognition after averaging 7.7 points and 5.0 rebounds per game as a junior. Her senior year Fauser averaged 7.7 points and 4.8 rebounds per contest while ranking second on the team in steals with 41. She was a two-time team co-captain and won the squad’s leadership award following her final season. Before her collegiate success Fauser was a standout athlete as a prep at Limestone High School. A native of Peoria, Fauser graduated from Truman State in 1998 with a bachelor degree in psychology. She has two children, Madisyn (6) and Carson (4).

Chris Burton is in his second season as a member of the UIS women’s basketball coaching staff.

In his rookie year at UIS Burton helped guide the Prairie Stars to their most wins in the NCAA Division II era along with the first-ever victory in Great Lakes Valley Conference play, a 72-54 triumph over Rockhurst in January, 2011.

Burton came to UIS after serving as Assistant Video Coordinator and Student Assistant coach at IUPUI in Indianapolis from 2007-09. While with the Jaguars he was responsible for in-game filming and editing along with assisting with film exchange and scout-ing. Burton also assisted in the recruiting area with database administration and organization. In addition, he helped prepare practice plans along with individual and group workouts.

Burton served as the Athletics Intern and Event Coordinator at Carmel High School in Carmel, Indiana where he oversaw all game day staffing needs.

Burton was a varsity assistant coach at Tipton High School in Tipton, Indiana while working on his undergraduate degree at Purdue and was a male practice player for the Boilermaker women’s basketball program from 2004-06. Chris has also coached the Mohr Magic, an 18U AAU team, and served as a training intern at 100% Hoops.

Burton is a 2009 graduate of IUPUI with a degree in Sports Management and Marketing. He is single and resides in Springfield.
