Ethics Awareness Week Model Entrepreneurship What’s in Your Pocket?

Other Projects SIFE Squad Criteria Met: 2, 3, 4

SIFE USF transformed a room at a church in a low-income neighborhood into a computer lab

with 4 computer stations, software, a printer, and workbooks. This benefits members of the

community and twenty-five young men residing in the church’s group home. Computer and

financial literacy skills were taught by SIFE at USF.

Result: Lab being used daily

Orange Market Criteria met: 1,2, 3, 4

An interactive presentation on how an orange goes from the groves to the glass and how it is

transformed into many different products such as cleaners and scents. A SIFE member dressed

as an orange and entertained the students.

Result: 95% increase in knowledge

Tour-D-SIFE Criteria Met: 1, 2, 3, 4

Thirteen students from Barbados had an economic tour of the Tampa Bay area. They learned

about the American economic system through tours of a computer recycling center and major

restaurant chains. The students made price comparisons between Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club to

learn how quantity impacts price. This experience also include dining etiquette training.

Result: 100% increase in knowledge

Beyond the Bull Criteria Met: 1,2,3,4

An interactive workshop designed for graduating seniors that addresses the transition skills

needed between college life and the real world.

Result: 100% increase in knowledge

Business Etiquette Dinner Criteria Met: 2,3

Students attended an interactive presentation and demonstration on how to eat properly and

interact professionally during a business dinner

Result: 100% agreed that skills learned will increase their professional development

World Wide Websites Criteria Met: 1,2,3

The WWW program provided 4 restaurants with free webpage design, custom dot com name,

and web hosting for one year. These web pages host the restaurant’s map, driving directions,

special offers and their menu.

Result: Averages 25 hits per day, reduced order taking time by average of 40%

YEA! Fundraising Criteria Met: 1,2,3,4

Assisted the planning and implementation of a fundraising program for Youth Empowered to

Achieve! (YEA!), a non-profit organization that helps inner city youth develop computer

skills, entrepreneurship skills, and social awareness.

Result: $13,000.00 raised for the organization

SIFE Speaker Series: College CEO & Corporate Responsibility Criteria Met: 1,2,3,4,5

In partnership with the USF Center for Entrepreneurship, brought speakers to speak to

students on how to be successful young entrepreneurs. An Executive VP of Florida’s largest

property management company addressed corporate responsibility and ethics.

Result: 72% increase in knowledge

Anti-Piracy PSA Criteria Met: 5

Created two one-minute Anti-Piracy Public Service Announcements as a part of the national

MPAA competition. The commercials were posted online for the public to vote which PSA to

submit for the competition.

Results: More than 500 views of commercial

Law School Forum Criteria: 2,3

An event designed for USF students interested in the field of law. We provided information on

law school options, how to finance law school and LSAT preparation lessons.

Result: 100% increase in knowledge

Future Projects

SIFE Business Consulting: NaimBran Criteria : 1,2,3

Develop a strategic marketing assessment for a startup company, NaimBran, which aims to sell

custom t-shirts to USF Students. PEST Analysis, Porter’s Analysis, SWOT Analysis will be

conducted.

SIFE Secret Shopper Criteria : 1,2,3

SIFE team members will serve as ‘secret shoppers’ to evaluate small businesses in the area.

Serving primarily restaurants, SIFE Secret Shoppers provide free evaluations of the restau-

rant’s services, products, and facility. Complimentary consultations will be offered.

Young Money LIVE! Criteria: 1,2,3,4,5

A marketing and financial advising event with Young Money Magazine.

La Bella Jewelry Criteria: 1,2,3,4

SIFE USF’s international venture to develop a business and marketing plan for a non-profit

company in Colombia that sells hand-made jewelry.

Selling hotdogs and Christmas

bucks’ in the SIFE Bank and
