1. Any malfunctions with the X26 TASER will be immediately reported

to your supervisor.

2. The X26 TASER may be worn home only when you are traveling

directly to or from work; otherwise, it should be secured until you

arrive at work.

113.05 X26 TASER Deployment

1. Any time an officer unholsters and points the TASER at a suspect, it

will be documented use and an incident report will be completed

before the end of shift.

2. If the darts are deployed:

a. A supervisor will be notified and respond to the scene. The

scene will be treated as a crime scene, and it will be

documented in writing and with photographs.

b. Before darts are removed by medical staff, they will bephotographed. After the darts are removed, photographs of the

dart(s) site(s) will be taken.

c. The darts will be placed back in the cartridge, sealed with

evidence tape, and logged into evidence.

d. The X26 TASER weapons officer will collect the data from the

weapon.

e. Injuries to the suspect and the officer will be documented in an

incident.

113.06 Unauthorized Uses. Any unauthorized use or failure to document a usewill be considered a serious violation of University Work Rules and

departmental policy.

113.07 Accidental Discharges.

1. Accidental discharges will be immediately reported to a supervisor.

2. A new cartridge will be issued.

3. All accidental discharges will be investigated and may result in

disciplinary action.

113.08 Supervisor Responsibilities. The immediate supervisor will be

responsible for ensuring the officer involved documents the TASERdeployment and that all of the evidence is collected properly.

1. If the darts are deployed, administration will be contacted.

2. If a death or serious injury results from the use of an X26 TASER, an

investigation will begin.
