Late Sri M.C. Sivananda Sarma(1911-1969)

Founder Secretary, Rashtreeya Sikshana Samithi Trust

Late Sri D.A. Pandu(1935-2005)

Chief Mentor, Rashtreeya Sikshana Samithi Trust

Academically a Sanskrit scholar, Sri M.C.Shivananda Sarma was born in a family of farmers in a village of T.Narasipur Taluk, Karnataka. He studied Sanskrit at Siddaganga and Sri Chamarajendra Sanskrit Bengaluru. He completed his Shiksha Visharada Degree

(Teacher Training) in Allahabad.

Being at variance with the prevailing British educational system, for Sarma, education was a primary builder of character in individuals. He was a passionate teacher of Hindi language, an ardent follower of Mahatma Gandhi's values, he participated in the Indian freedom struggle and always led a non-indulgent austere life while relentlessly striving for the cause of education.

He vowed to pioneer this belief of Rashtreeya Education System, by setting up educational institutions-starting with Rashtreeya Vidyalaya in the year 1940 with support of friends and well wishers who were convinced of his farsighted vision.

Thus was born Rashtreeya Sikshana Samithi in the year 1940 with an enshrined goal that 'every individual from each strata of society needs education to fulfil aspirations' and 'the trust will constantly strive towards this social need'. With 23 institutions today, the trust prides itself with a legacy of growth that was envisioned by its Founder Secretary. A vision that exudes varicoloured radiance touching divergent sections of the society – able and challenged, boys and girls, rich and poor, humanity and science, art and technology, curricular and cultural.

The fact that it has groomed and mentored thousands of students to become luminaries in various walks of life from under its roof, is the Trust's way of living up to the founders' vision.

Sri Sivananda Sarma is rightly remembered as one of the founding architects of value based education, not just in Bengaluru but the whole country. His was an achievement that was quietly exemplary, impeccably outstanding. For times to come, he stands tall as a venerable edifice in the educational horizon of the country.

The saga of Rashtreeya Sikshana Samithi Trust is itself a revelatory biography of Sri M.C. Sivananda Sarma - whose every moment was devoted to the cause of education through the trust. Walking distances to garner help and support for the cause, he demonstrated his commitment and touched every heart. While some sent their children to his school, some helped him with resources to built it. His story is laced with barefoot struggles, dextrous dealing with challenges, relentless campaigning, leadership demonstration, innovation, mentoring, grooming and celebration of success.

He grew up and lived with a conviction that education was the foremost need of human development. This view of his, was seeded and fortified with the inspirational accomplishments of Sri Madan Mohan Malaviya, founder of Banaras Hindu University. This was further strengthened by his experiences at Shanthinikethan, West Bengal founded by Maharshi Devendranath Tagore and Kangri Gurukul at Hardwar founded by Swami Shraddhanand of Arya Samaj.

Sri Pandu always believed in providing the state-of-the-art infrastructural facilities for quality teaching and learning with the motive of achieving excellence in education. It was his dream that SSMRV should emerge as a premier academic institution and he spared no efforts to move in this direction.

Fondly remembered as the great visionary who lovingly nurtured the R.V. group of institutions, Late Sri D.A. Pandu continues to be a source of inspiration for all at SSMRV.

Having started his career in the 1960s as Assistant Secretary of RSST, Sri Pandu rose to be the Chief Mentor of the Trust. He had always considered SSMRV College to be of special significance since the Institution is dedicated to Sri Sivananda Sarma who poured his life blood for RSST. He was always concerned about the well-being of the College, the staff and the students and approached issues with a judicious blend of discipline and compassion.

His exemplary life is a strong source of motivation for his admirers and followers. He was morally upright, positive in his outlook and sought continuous growth and improvement not only at the personal level but also at the level of the Institution.

Graced with his special blessings, SSMRV is sure to reach the pinnacle of excellence in education and more particularly, be successful in achieving its motto of 'Education for Wholeness'. May the life spirit of Sri D.A. Pandu, marked by simplicity and dedication, illumine the minds and hearts of all at SSMRV and spread light and learning in the portals of this College.

The above events were a tipping point for me to ponder about a different platform for the educational environment which is called the Virtual Learning System. In the years to come, the online education platforms would undoubtedly earn more prominence than a Classroom oriented teaching and now is the time to gear up for the next level of Change.. I strongly believe that the holistic education can be achieved only through Experiential Learning blended with guided internships and project works. I will ensure that I leave no stone unturned to have academic and industry collaborations with reputed Institutions of National and International stature.

Iam proud to share with you the achievements, recognitions and contributions of our College during the previous academic year. We have been ranked one among Top 5 Colleges in India by India Today – MDRA survey for the second consecutive year. This is a reflection of the commitment and encouragement from all our stakeholders.

My heartfelt thanks to the Management of RSST for providing constant support in all our endeavours and also guiding us through unexplored paths in our academic pursuits. This united with the dedication of all our Staff Members (Teaching and Non-teaching) and the enthusiasm by our students has ensured that SSMRV College scales greater heights year after year.

0We have spearheaded a 360 Education for Wholeness model which practically works on a 6 dimensional approach viz. Academics, Skill Development, Extra Curricular, Career Development, Ethics and Self Governance and Psychological well-being. The model has provided a very progressive and desired outcome. It has been a transformation in the life of a student not limiting to just Campus to Corporate but a much broader perspective called Campus to Community. Our placement rate of more than 90% and our students securing ranks and gold medals in University exams are a positive integer of our efforts. We constantly measure the Skill shelf life of a student and ensure we provide the courses which are industry and community relevant.

Abraham Maslow once said' “In any given moment we have two options: to step forward into growth or step back into safety.” In SSMRV, I take pride in saying we choose the first option!! The “moment” in this saying is with reference to the COVID-19 pandemic which was unforeseen and uncalled for. However, in our constant effort to provide quality education to our young minds, we formulated strategies well before the lockdown was declared. My team engaged in online classes, provided online assignments, conducted online examinations and also uploaded more than 200 video lectures onto our Youtube channel. We also established student help lines, counselling centres by associating with various medical agencies and provided necessary provisions to our Housekeeping staff. We constantly interacted with the parents and students and ensured that they are in the best of their health. Our students actively participated in helping people in

distress and were recognised and awarded both by NGO's and Government agencies. All these moments makes me blissful that I lead such a team of dynamic, self-motivated team of Faculty members and Students.

I conclude by saying SSMRV College has followed the trend of the current education system and correlated its efforts to match the pace of its movement. The faculty members and Students have explored the World of Technology which links them academically both on and off campus thereby creating a strong network. This unique

0model of 360 Education for Wholeness is a “start to success story” with proven results.

I, wholeheartedly welcome you to be part of our success story!!!
