Engineering
• Design and manufacturing of the nuclear steam supply system and its
principal items of equipment
• Engineering services for the heart of the power plant, the so-called
"nuclear island", the main components of the reactor’s primary circuit
and instrumentation and control (I&C) systems and fuel
• Contribution to the major EPR construction projects in Finland
(Olkiluoto 3), France (Flamanville 3), China (Taishan 1 and 2), and the
United Kingdom (Hinkley Point C)
At the heart of nuclear power plants design
Framatome, with its thousands of highly skilled engineers
and operators, has completed more than 90 nuclear power
plant projects around the world.

Equipment manufacturing for nuclear power plants
• Production of the key equipment for nuclear steam supply systems to
equip new-build power plants or to replace items of equipment at power
plants in operation
• Manufacturing of advanced technology heavy equipment (reactor
pressure vessel, steam generators, etc.) and mobile components
(reactor coolant pumps and control rod drive mechanisms)
A key element in nuclear safety
Since 1970, around 10,000 components have been produced:
Framatome components equip more than 100 power plants in
11 countries, always meeting the most demanding nuclear
safety and quality standards.

Brazil´s electricity demand evolution (1990-2014)
• Even if the economic slowdown of Brazil decreased the electricity consumption in 2015 & 2016, the electricity
demand doubled since1990 and will continue increase with the rebound of economic growth;
• Brazil still has a long way to reach the electricity consumption levels of other developing or developed countries,
and needs to get prepared for it;

Nuclear is safe
• Nuclear is the power generation technology with
the lowest number of death/TWh produced and
is the most controlled power generation technology:
• IAEA Safety standards: framework for protecting people and
