1) What is UD Link?
“UD Link” includes basic functions such as browsing, copying and
playing files in storage devices (including Cloud, CD/DVD)
connected to Android and Fire OS-based devices, audio playback,
audio CD extraction, data backup, audio CD creation, etc. This is
an application that lets you use these kinds of extended
functions.
To use the CD/DVD function of the UD Link app, you need to connect
a
supported DVD drive to your Android device. However, the basic
functions are available without a DVD drive.

It provides an Explorer function that lets you play and copy files
from smart devices and files of storage devices connected to the
device.

It provides various functions to create and manage audio albums by
playing audio CDs and extracting audio to internal/external storage

2) Install the app
The “UD Link app” can be installed for free from the Google Play
Store.
Go to the home screen of your Android device.
Launch ‘Google Play Store’ from the app list.
Search for “UD Link” in the Google Play Store and install it.
To use Fire OS, customers can search for and install it via the
Amazon App Store.
3) Using the function
Launching the app
Select and run “UD Link” installed from the app list on the home
screen of the Android device.
Most of the features of the UD Link app do not require a unique
environment.
However, it is recommended to use it with a CD/DVD drive that
supports Google Cloud and UD Link to smoothly use the entire
function.
Google Cloud support makes it easier to connect to your device
account.
Connect the CD/DVD drive and Android device with the included USB
cable.
In the dialog for selecting Execute, select “UD Link” or select “UD
Link” installed from the app list on the Android device home screen
to run it.
The UD Link start screen appears.
If you run it for the first time, a screen that shows a brief
introduction to the UD Link app will appear.
After, the app's permission settings are requested and must be
allowed.
The first screen to run App is “Disc Explorer”.
Google Cloud Login (Android)
Select (Cloud) from the left function menu or log in to Google
Cloud using the Cloud Login function at the bottom of
Explorer.
If you use an Android device without the additional sign-up
process, you will be logged in to the Google Cloud of the device
and use the cloud storage.

If you do not have a history of cloud usage, the consent process
will proceed. Select the account of the smart device that appears
as shown on the next screen.
- When login is completed successfully, all cloud functions of UD
Link are activated.
- The login is executed only once for the first time, and the login
process does not appear upon re-run.
- For Fire OS users, we will support another cloud.
Disc recognition
When you insert a CD/DVD into the connected DVD drive, once the
“recognition process” is complete, it automatically execute the
main functions required for the disc.
- Data disc : Disc Explorer - DVD-Video : DVD Player (True DVD+) -
Audio CD : Audio CD playback - Blank disc : Data backup (blank
CD-R, DVD± R)
DVD Video playback
Insert a video DVD into the DVD drive while UD Link is
running.
If it is identified as a DVD-Video disc and the DVD-Video Player
(True DVD) will automatically launch. If it is not installed, it
will guide you to the True DVD installation process.
End DVD Video playback
When you have finished watching a video DVD, click on the “Back”
button on the Android device twice in a row to finish.
DVD-Video Player (True DVD) will quit and return to UD Link.
Disc Explorer
You can play files in the storage device of the Android device or
the storage device connected to the device and use Explorer
functions such as copying or deleting to the target device.

memory, external HDD, etc. - Optical Disc Drive : CD/DVD storage -
Google Drive : Google Cloud storage
1. Disc Explorer function
It represents the data recorded in each device, and you can use
unique Explorer functions such as sorting, running (opening),
copying and deleting.
The sharing function works with the share function app installed on
the device.
2. Cloud function
Disc Explorer provides a cloud function using Google Drive. UD Link
can use the entire Google Drive. For main functions, a “UDLink”
folder is automatically created and the folder is used.

3. Remote-access function (planned in the second half of
2021)
Disc Explorer provides access to shared drives in the local
network. If accessed via a local network, it is auto-matically
shared by installing UD Link on the device without entering a
special address.. The subjects to share only works for “Internal
Shared Storage” and “Optical Disc Drive.”
Audio playback
You can play audio albums, files, and CDs through smart devices and
use the albums on multiple devices through the Shared Album
function using the cloud. It also provides various playback screens
and convenience functions for enhanced enjoyment.

CD CREATER : Create an audio CD
1. gracenote
Audio CD playback of UD Link supports album covers, Title &
Track information display through gracenote. (A network connection
is required.)
Immediately after recognizing an audio CD, audio album information
is imported through gracenote (approximately 5-20 seconds). When
the information is imported, the information will be displayed
along with the playback screen.
2. AUDIO ALBUM
UD Link supports audio album service. The Basic audio album is
created by ripping an audio CD (See “5. Audio CD Ripper”).
The basic audio album screen is structured as follows:
When an audio CD is extracted to the unit's storage device, the
album appears with thumbnails for the albums you can play
The Google Drive album will appear in the Album category when the
audio CD is extracted to the Google Cloud.
Google Drive album items appear identically on smartphones,
tablets, set-top boxes and TV boxes that are set to the same
account.
If you click on the album, “File Player” will start and playback
will begin.
3. FILE PLAYER
UD Link supports the audio file playback service.
Support Audio: M4A, AAC, FLAC, MP3, OGG, WAV
Audio file playback performs in the following way:
1) Run the audio file in Explorer. 2) Select and run an audio album
in the Audio Playback tab. 3) Execute audio album selection in the
Cloud tab.
As shown in the following images, only one song will be played if
you select one song file. If you select multiple files, it will be
played sequentially.
4. CD PLAYER
Supported audio CD discs: CD-ROM, CD-R, CD-RW
Most official audio albums will be provided on CD-ROM.
Audio CD playback is performed in the following way:
1) Connect the CD/DVD drive to the device. 2) Insert the audio CD
into the CD/DVD drive and close the tray. 3) Once the audio CD is
loaded, the screen will switch to
"CD Play" and playback will begin.
Gracenote runs once for the first time when playing audio CD. When
it plays the CD again, it will use the gracenote information which
is previously acquired.
In some cases, the acquired information may be incorrect. If you
need to reconfirm, click the Reload button at the top to reset
through the server.
Playback function is to play from the first track, and you can
control with the control buttons.
5. AUDIO CD RIPPER
UD Link supports audio CD ripping.
Supported audio CDs: CD-ROM, CD-R, CD-RW
Extraction creates a file by combining the audio CD sound source,
the grace note image, and album information.
Audio CD extraction is for extracting files to the storage that you
want. You can choose between the internal storage of the device and
the cloud.
Each extracted audio album will appear on the Audio Album
screen.
Audio CD extraction can be saved in the following formats:

6. AUDIO CD CREATER
UD Link supports the audio CD creation service.
Supported audio CD : CD-R Supported audio formats : FLAC, MP3, M4A,
WAV, OGG, AAC Support audio file location : Internal storage
capacity, USB memory
You can play CD which Audio CD Creator create in a home or car
audio CD players.
If you select and add a supported audio file using "Add File” the
file will appear in the list and the current recordable capacity
will be displayed.
If you add an album name, it will be displayed as the audio album
title.
When adding an image Album, the image for the disc will be
displayed only within the UD LINK of the device that created it.
(In the Audio CD standard, it cannot save images on an audio
CD.)

Data backup
It provides a function with which to easily back up (store) data
from smart devices and peripheral storage devices with UD Link
installed to the storage desired by the user.

UD Link's backup function supports user-convenience backup, from
selective file type backup with high user freedom to photo folders
automatically determined by UD Link.
The basic screen composition of Backup is as follows:

1. FILE BACKUP
UD Link provides a function with which to backup (save) the files
selected by the user.
You can specify files and folders that require user backup among
internal storage space, USB storage space, cloud storage space, and
data on CD/DVD and save them to internal storage space, cloud
storage space, and CD/DVD.
If you use the “Add File” button to check and add data which
requires backup, the selected folder and file will appears on the
right.
If you select a device to backup (save) after adding files, the
available space and the total remaining space of the device will be
displayed as a graph.
If you select the Data backup button, the backup operation
begins.
2. CLOUD BACKUP
UD Link can easily backup (save) the Google Cloud space of a user
account with a single click.
If you select Cloud backup, the entire “UDLink” will appear in the
Google Cloud folder of the user account as the backup destination
on the right.
You can also back up the entire folder by moving it to the top of
the “UDLink” folder through the add File button.
When backing up to CD/DVD, you can separate and record the Google
Cloud data by the capacity of the inserted disc. (Two DVD DLs and
four SLs are required to back up 15 GB of total space.)
If you back up to internal storage space, by default, the UDLink
folder in Google Cloud is fullly backed up the UDLink folder in
internal storage
space.
3. PHOTO BACKUP
UD Link provides a function to easily back up (save) a large amount
of photo data stored in the user's device with a single
click.
If you select Photo backup, the DCIM folder which is the default
photo folder of the user device, is the backup destination and
performs the backup to the desired location.
The DCIM folder is set as the default backup destination, but you
can also change the default setting by using the Add Files
button.
When backing up to CD/DVD, you can record photos divided by the
appropriate size for the discs, and the amount of discs you need is
displayaedin advance (2 DVD DLs and 3 SLs are required to back up
10 GB of photos.)
When backing up to the Cloud space, backup is performed to UDLink/
UDLink_Photo/ DCIM of Google Cloud by default.
When Internal storage is selected, DCIM backup is performed to the
UDLink_Photo folder in the UDLink folder on the selected USB
memory.
4. SNS BACKUP
UD Link provides a function to easily backup (save) the SNS backup
data stored in the user's device with a single click.
When using SNS, posts (photos, videos) registered by the person are
stored in a designated folder in the Android device by default, and
the function to back them up periodically is provided.
If the user has not uploaded and saved the SNS, it is marked as No
user data, and a guide is provided to request the backup data they
have previously registered by the SNS service provider.
When backing up to a CD/DVD, the pictures are divided by
appropairate sizes for the disc, and the amount of of discs you
need is displayed in advance. (1 DVD DL and 2 SLs are needed in
order to backup 5 GB of data.)
When backing up to the Cloud space, backup is performed to UDLink/
UDLink_Photo/ SNS of Google Cloud by default.
If you select Internal storage space, perform a backup to UDLink/
UDLink_Photo/ SNS to the selected internal storage space and USB
memory.
Cloud
UD Link provides various functions that can conveniently use the
cloud.
Basic functions such as Disc Explorer, audio playback, data backup
also includes the ability to leverage the cloud service.
We provides more special function the Cloud tab.

1. CLOUD MUSIC
UD Link offers a function with which to manage cloud audio albums
registered in audio albums separately.
At a glance, you can check the audio album registered in the cloud
and you can run the album.
It provides a function to change the sorting order of extracted
albums or delete the corresponding albums.
2. CLOUD PHOTO
UD Link provides separate management of photo albums that you saved
by copying or backing up to the cloud.
Various albums such as photos from personal smartphones and SNS
backup data are registered, providing a function to manage them at
a glance.
You can check and delete photos stored in the cloud photo
album.
Additionally, Cloud Photo provides the following functions.

3. CLOUD VIDEO
UD Link provides separate management of video albums that you saved
by copying or backing up to the cloud.
Video files are saved in UDLink Video when backing up the DCIM of a
personal smartphone, and the product offers a function with which
to manage registered videos at a glance.
You can play and delete videos saved in the cloud's video
album.
Setting
You can check user information and set functions through the
Setting function.

- Background setting function
UD Link does not have a background by default and only uses the
background for audio playback.
This function allows you set the saved cover image as the app’s
default wallpaper through the audio CD album.
- Remote-access function setting
The server for remote access is used after activating the function
for server use.
Connect the configured server through the search window.
2. Troubleshooting
Recommended latest software updates
Please update your Android device (Smart devices) OS and app to the
latest version to use this product without effort.
Depending on the installation environment and hardware performance
of your Android device, functionality of this product cannot work
well.
If your DVD doesn’t play
When the video doesn’t play, try ejecting and inserting the disc
again.
Turn off the app and restart.
If the app is not responding
If the app is not responding, turn off the app manually and
restart. (At Home screen – Go to “Setting”(Gear icon) – “App” –
Select “UD Link” – Select “Force stop”)
To check the app version
At Home screen,

How to prevent app from starting automatically when connecting the
DVD drive
At Home screen - Go to “Setting” (Gear icon) - “App”
- Select “UD Link”
- Select “Clear defaults”
If video files in data disc can’t be playable
If you record and play a UHD (4K) level movie on a CD disc,
exceeding Bit rate can cause playback delays or stops.
In this case, it is recommended that you use it only for data
backup purposes.
If video transition is delayed while playing DVD video
During chapter or menu transition in DVD video disc playback,
please understand that it can be delayed a little bit due to the
search operation.
If DVD is not recognized
If this product is not recognized by the Android device (Smart
device), please check if the OTG function is turned on.
If screen size of DVD Video playback is small
Depending on the DVD video disc, the image may be output
differently from the screen ratio of the smart device.
What codec does UD Link support?
UD Link uses external Player / Codec for playback
compatibility.
1) DVD video, Audio CD: Playback using Player / Codec embedded in
UD Link
2) General Video/Music files: Playback using external apps such as
VLC player and MX player
In case of an issue that does not support the codec, select another
player to play
What is DVD video region code?
This is the code specified by each region of the world where DVD
video is sold and used.
When playing DVD video, change the region code via UD Link / True
DVD for Android TV. If the screen related on the region code does
not appear, there is no need to change it.
