APPLICATION FORM 

Application  documents  should  be  submitted  to  the UCSIA Selection Committee not later  than  Sunday  April  26 th  2009,  by  electronic  application  form,  to sara.mels@ua.ac.be,  by  fax  0032­03­707.09.31,  or  by  mail  to  Sara  Mels,  Project coordinator, UCSIA, Prinsstraat 14 – 2000 Antwerp – Belgium). 

The selection of 30 participants will be made on a competitive basis. In the selection, the profile of the selected group of participants as a whole will be taken into account. The  purpose  is  to  select  a  group  that  is  as  complementary,  multidisciplinary  and multicultural as possible. 

The applications will be reviewed by the selection committee headed by Dr. Christiane Timmerman,  Director  of  Academic  Affairs  of  UCSIA  and  Project  Supervisor.  The selection  committee  will  be  compound  of  scholars  and  researchers  from  various disciplines of  the University of Antwerp. Candidates may  receive an answer  to  their application by May 15 th 2009. 

Participation and stay for young scholars and students is free. In principal, participants should pay  for  their own  travel expenses  to Antwerp. However, a  limited number of travel  grants  is  available.  Please add  a  motivated  request  and  estimation  of your travel expenses to your application file. 

Because funds are  limited, presenters are encouraged  to  investigate other channels of  funding  first.  Funding preference  is  given  to  knowledgeable participants  coming from universities or organizations based in the South.
