 Center for Clinical Education, Research & Professional Development Oncology Rehabilitation Clinical Implications for Healthcare Providers May 3-4, 2013 PRESENTED BY: Andréa Leiserowitz PT, DPT, CLT Clinical Faculty, University of Washington DPT, Oregon's Lane Community College PT Assistant programs, & the American Physical Therapy Association's Oncology Specialization Task Force COURSE DESCRIPTION This two day course will help the clinician better understand cancer, its causes, current medical options, typical side-effects, and current oncology rehab protocols in order to make sound clinical decisions when treating patients with cancer. Participants will gain an understanding of: OBJECTIVES Cancer etiology, risk, & prevention Cancer treatments (surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, hormonal therapy, pharmacology) Secondary impairments resulting from cancer treatments (lymphedema, neuropathy, fatigue, & treatment, etc.) Special emphasis of Bone Marrow/Stem Cell Transplant throughout the treatment spectrum Exercise implications before, during, and post-cancer treatments Exercise prescription and components of a comprehensive cancer rehabilitative program Rehab’s role in end of life care REGISTER EARLY SPACE IS LIMITED For more information and to register online, please visit: http://www.uch.edu/classes-events CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDIT 10.6 contact hours are pending approval for Occupational Therapists through t he American Occupational Therapy Association.
