LIVE AND LEARN IN EXCITING SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA!

BEAUTIFUL SCENERY, BEAUTIFUL PEOPLECalifornia holds so much diversity, not only within our cultures, but in our environment. You can drive in any direction and find yourself near water, or in the middle of a desert, or national forest. It truly is a beautiful reflection of everything California has to offer, and its beautiful people that inhabit it.

DREAMS COME TRUEI never imagined myself in the United States, let alone at an institution of such prestige. My life has led me on an incredible journey. I learned a new language, culture, mindset, and I grew as an individual, more than I could have believed possible.

HOME AWAY FROM HOME UC Riverside has given me a home away from home and is making each of my dreams a reality. Coming from a single parent home, UCR gave me the opportunity to afford a University of California education. My father attended a Spanish-speaking seminar, which provided information to help me succeed.

NEVER AN OUTSIDER Every day at UC Riverside, I am exposed to so many different backgrounds and cultures. It reminds me that my background does not limit me, nor does it make me feel alone. UC Riverside creates a feeling of comfort and welcome for all of its students. It makes me so proud to know I am not only representing my family but my country as well, and that UCR is also proud to host me.

Work closely with an award-winning faculty!UC Riverside professors rank 6th in the nation for the most significant awards and recognition. (Washington Monthly, 2014)

WHY I CHOSE UCRI chose to attend UC Riverside because it has a great mechanical engineering program. Additionally, I was offered an athletics scholarship to play NCAA Division 1 tennis at UCR. Riverside is also very close to many attractive places such as San Diego and Los Angeles.

INVALUABLE MENTORSHIPDr. Lorenzo Mangolini is my favorite professor at UC Riverside. I had two classes with him. He pushes his students to work hard, and he does everything in his power to help students learn.

BEYOND ACADEMICSI play tennis for the men's tennis team, hang out with my friends, work out, and travel to cities like Las Vegas and Big Bear. My two favorite places are San Diego and Santa Barbara. In addition to California, I have also been to Miami and New York to watch the US Open.

HANDS-ON RESEARCHOne of my mechanical engineering classes required the design and development of paper-based devices, including paper-based analytical devices (PADs), paper microscopes foldscope, paper robots/actuators, and origami microfluidics.
