In addition to Philanthropy, Brothers of the
Delta Sigma Chapter have accompanied
friends and sisters to various Sorority
events including but not limited to, Pi Beta
Phi‟s Heaven on Earth, Gamma Phi Beta
Formal, and Alpha Chi Omega‟s Pajama
Jam.
Brothers of the Delta Sigma Chapter
have been avid supporters of the great
Sororities at the University of Califor-
nia, Irvine. They most recently partici-
pated in Delta Gamma‟s Anchorsplash
philanthropy as well as won Pi Beta Phi‟s
annual Arrowdaze Philanthropy last
Spring.
The Delta Sigma Chapter has just re-
cently concluded with both Presidential
and Vice-Presidential elections along
with elections for Cabinet Members.
Congratulations to both Brother Mike
Boileau (#723) and Brother Rashad
Qasem (#708) (pictured right) for be-
ing voted President and Vice-President
Elect respectively, Delta Sigma has also
recently elected a new cabinet.

pating in 3 fall sports so far: Flag Football,
Volleyball, and Tennis. Our Flag Football
and Volleyball teams have advanced to
the All-University Playoffs through hard
work, teamwork, and dedication. Brother
Rich Tai (#735) has been instrumental in
leading the Tennis attack by advancing in
the Inter-Fraternity Playoffs. The Chapter
will be participating in Soccer and Basket-

Building Bridges: Nu Class
Delta Sigma is committed to Member
Recruitment and Member Education
under the strictest of guidelines.
Recruitment Chair, Brother Nicholas
Rael (#705) has worked tirelessly to
recruit the best the university has to
offer and has introduced these
pledges to the Men of Principle ide-
als, challenging them to become not
only better students and leaders, but
better men. The current pledge class
is the Xi class headed by Pledge Class
President Andrew Cheng. They have
recently returned from their Pledge
class retreat and look to make excep-
tional progress while upholding the
Delta Sigma values and traditions.
Delta Sigma has recently revised their
recruitment to follow a “365” model.
In order to develop a better relation-
ship with potential rushees, Delta
Sigma intends to hold several Recruit-
ment events throughout the quarter.
By doing so, we aim to develop rela-
tionships with potentials as well as
attain the best and brightest possible
individuals to be Sons of Stars. In this
model, however, it is imperative we
receive as much support from Alumni
as possible as they are key to exhibit-
ing the rich tradition and history of
our fraternity. We are looking for
Alumni to assist us in our “Alumni
Info Night” recruitment events as
well as suggesting potential rushees.
The Delta Sigma chapter would
like to thank Brothers John R.
Rothwell (USC „78) and Brad
Rothwell (Puget Sound „05)
(Chapter Advisors), as well as
Amy Buch (Risk Management
Advisor) and David Young (UC
-Irvine „85) (Alumni Advisor) for
their counsel and guidance. They
were instrumental in the growth
and maturation of this chapter.
We would also like to thank
Brother Dennis Byztrisky (UC-
Irvine „09) for his assistance. With-
out his help, this newsletter would
not have been possible. We finally
want to thank our chapter Pledge
Moms, Jess Corral, Melanie Teo-
tico, Kate Stapp, Pia Erika No-
guera, Kelli Chew, Melanie
Meyers, and Jennifer Wong.
Delta Sigma would also like to
thank the individuals following for
their generosity in donating ritual
equipment:. Without their gener-
osity, our chapter would not be
able to share the Beta spirit with
future brothers. Their generosity
is a shining example of the lifelong
fraternal bond that ties all Sons of
the Dragon together throughout
Wooglin‟s broad domain.

members from Alpha Chi Omega as
well as our fellow Fraternity Phi
Gamma Delta (FIJI) to conquer the
songfest trophy. The participants
will be practicing hard all year to
represent our respective chapters
on the UCI Greek stage. Despite
having a dis-
tance to go to
the event, Delta
Sigma Brothers
have pledged
their full sup-
port and have
begun to accu-
mulate points
by pledging to buy Song Fest T-
Shirts. Beta/Alpha Chi Omega/FIJI is
currently first in the standings.
Come and support Beta at UCI
Songfest. Details will be announced

Takes place February 12th to 14th and
Delta Sigma needs your help! This is a high
quality, regional education experience
focusing on chapter officer development,
principled leadership and volunteer train-
ing.
During Keystone, chapter officers attend
individual officer tracks, learn how to lead
their chapters and set goals with your own
executive team. Chapter advisors will also
have their own track, as their training por-
tion of Keystone offers real time applica-
tion of advisor strategies to current chap-
ter situations that vary from year-to year
Delta Sigma is required to send 8 offi-
cers and we are initiating an appeal to our
alumni for contributions to defray ex-
penses. Please help by donating and in-
vesting in the development and improve-
ment of the chapter.
You can support Chapter leader-
ship development by contacting the Delta
Sigma chapter.
