The future is not something that just suddenly appears.

The future is something that is born from the results of

yesterday and today.

This is why we must always strive to refine our

technological capabilities.

Our passion for innovation that challenges boundaries

still burns.

Through monozukuri (the Japanese spirit of

craftsmanship in manufacturing), we support the

tomorrow of Japan and the rest of the world.

We will continue to challenge ourselves in the future.

Continually evolve without fearing change.UBE creates value to support tomorrow. The UBE Group, which was founded as a silent

partnership to develop coal mining in 1897, has

always brought about its own innovation based on

the “from finite mining to infinite industry”

philosophy. Since our founding more than 120

years ago, we have been engaged in unified

manufacturing that is rich with creativity through

the “coexistence and mutual prosperity” of

everyone involved from our customers and

partners to all of our stockholders and the local

communities.

Presently, the businesses of the UBE Group are

diversified in the regions of chemicals, construction

materials, and machinery and our products and

technology are widely used in things around each

one of us, such as digital appliances, household

goods, automotive components, and

pharmaceutical products as well as installations for

social infrastructures.

Our spirit steps up to the challenge of

monozukuri (the Japanese spirit of craftsmanship

in manufacturing) for a generation that demands

creative technology by always innovating

ourselves. We are committed to being a business

enterprise that continues to generate value which

contributes to the realization of a better society,

and this commitment is embodied in our corporate

philosophy, “Pursue technology and embrace

innovation to create value for the future and

contribute to social progress.”

We will continue to strive to realize this vision

by mobilizing the unified strength of the entire

UBE Group. We look forward to your continued

support and interest in our business activities.

Supporting Tomorrow

Core business of UBE to widely support industry and livelihoods. From finite mining to infinite industry. Chemicals is a business that most personifies the philosophy

we have instilled since our founding and it is also the core of the UBE Group today. For example, our

nylon is used in products from fibers to automotive components and our synthetic rubber is a raw

material of tires. In addition, we provide products with high-added value such as separator film and

electrolytes, which are vital components to lithium-ion batteries, and polyimide, which is

indispensable to electronic devices including displays. We also promote research and development of

drugs and manufacturing of substances in the pharmaceuticals segment. UBE has become the

infrastructure to support the industry and lifestyle of tomorrow in a wide range of facets.

[Construction Materials Business]

[Machinery Business]

Providing a wide range of construction materials and energy, and contributing to shaping a recycling-oriented society through waste recycling.

Responding to customer needs worldwide with global capabilities.

We are expanding our lime and magnesia products

business for construction materials such as interior

and exterior materials as well as industrial material

applications, in addition to a rich product line-up

from standard and specialty cement to

solidification materials and ready-mixed concrete.

Furthermore, we are advancing a business to

effectively use various waste as raw materials of

cement and alternative fuel by taking advantage

of the benefits of cement kilns to fire raw materials

at high temperatures around 1,450°C to incinerate/

separate substances that cannot be processed in a

standard kiln. We are also helping to support social

infrastructure through our involvement in the coal

industry—providing a stable supply of coal from

overseas to meet energy needs—and through

electric power wholesaling, as well as promoting

low-carbon energy such as the introduction of

biomass fuels.

Machinery Corporation, Ltd.

UBE die-casting and injection molding machines

have a track record of sales that exceeds 6,000

units worldwide and support many automotive

manufacturers. Various transport devices, grinders,

and bridges are also widely adopted both inside

and outside of Japan and contribute to

infrastructure improvement.

Contributing to society with a spirit unwavering since our founding.

We have been pouring our strengths into

installations of social infrastructure such as the

power, railways, schools, and hospitals and social

contribution activities in the land we were founded

while expanding our businesses since the time

when the words corporate social responsibility still

did not exist to answer the expectations and

requests of local communities. Currently, we are

promoting global CSR activities by aiming to

“coexist” with all of our stakeholders at the UBE

Group. We are advancing initiatives toward

sustainability in particular by cooperating with our

business locations worldwide such as Thailand and

Spain on environmental conservation measures

such as the prevention of global warming.

[Research and Development]

Ceaseless endeavor toward technology aims for the innovation of UBE.

We have established an R&D Division within our

Chemicals Company, and we are furthering the

development of innovative technology to respond

to social issues and the potential needs of our

customers, in order to evolve our existing

businesses and create new businesses geared

toward future generations at UBE. We are working

while utilizing open innovation to strengthen

strategic technologies in the advanced chemical

field in addition to core fundamental technology

such as organic/inorganic synthetic chemicals,

catalytic chemicals, high polymer chemistry, and

computational chemistry/simulation technologies

to respond to more complex needs.
