Curriculum: Year One
•Family Medicine – 8 Weeks
•2 x 4 week rotations
•First rotation beginning July 1 as orientation to Residency & Surrey Memorial Hospital
•Full day call-back to family practice every second Thursday during other rotations to provide continuity of care
•Call with preceptor (max 1:3, home call to midnight)
• FP CTU – 4 weeks Resident of the Month
•2 other weeks of night-time home-call coverage off service
•Manage 10-bed medicine ward with GP Preceptors and 4th year Medical Students
Curriculum: Year One
•SMH Internal Medicine – 10 Weeks
•6 week block hospitalist medicine (MRP for all patients except ICU and CCU)
•No call – some overnight shifts
•4 x 1 week subspecialty rotations (no call)

• Obstetrics/Women’s Health – 8 Weeks
– 8 week block rotation
– Call 1:4 (max), 24 hour call shifts
– Clinic opportunities: infertility clinic, colposcopy, gyne office, prenatal clinic, nausea/vomiting clinic, maternal-fetal medicine, etc.
• Pediatrics – 8 Weeks
– 6 weeks inpatient hospital rotation
– 2 weeks Peds Emerg at BCCH and peds office exposures
– Call 1:4 (max), 24 hour call shifts
– Pediatrics ward, ER consults, teaching clinic, newborn exams, NICU exposure

• Surgery – 8 Weeks
– 2 week block surgery subspecialty
– 4 week block general surgery
• General Surgery Consults & Call
– Call 1:4 (max), call to 2300h
• ALSO: Anesthesia, Pain Service, Wound Care, IV team, Lumps & Bumps, Radiology opportunities, breast clinic, ophthalmology clinic, ostomy nurse
– ~ 2 days ENT combined Family Medicine 2 week block
• Musculoskeletal – 2 Weeks
– Clinic opportunities: sports injury, Office, OR, cast clinic

• Emergency Medicine – 4 Weeks (SMH, LMH, Delta)
– 4 week block rotation
– Shift work
– No call, No overnight shifts
• Hospice Palliative Care – 4 Weeks

(up to two half days per week out of designated office)

- follow-up a total of 4-6 patients, access patients in ER, patients with chronic and persistent mental illness.
