LOCATION
• UBC is located in the West Side of British Columbia, Canada
• On the coast of BC; Wreck Beach close by
• Close to the Point Grey Area (V6T 1Z#)
• More than 400 hectares in size
• 30 minute bus ride from downtown Vancouver
PLACE
• Fountain is the center of the campus
• Lots of different options for food
•Wesbrook Village
•University Village
• Nest (New Student Union Building)
• UBC possesses a highly academic student body (not a “party” school)
• Large commuter population (many bus routes leading to UBC)
ENVIRONMENT / HUMAN INTERACTIONS
• Pacific Spirit Park
• Wreck/Acadia Beach
• UBC Farm
• Clearing of trees to build new buildings
• Several artificial gardens •Nitobe Gardens •Botanical Gardens •Rose Gardens
REGION
Areas on campus are largely divided based
on faculty
● The campus is subtly delineated into areas of academic study, research and residential sites
● The campus is bounded at its North, South and West perimeters by Pacific Spirit Park
● Fine Arts students will be working primarily in the NW corner of the Campus
● Forestry, Agriculture and Engineering just South of the center of the Campus
● Education, Chemistry, Biology and Physics students will work near the center of the Campus
• Athletics dominate the southern-most portion of the Campus • Student mid-rise residences are located to the West, near
NorthWest Marine Drive • Commercial areas (retail) are located at both the Eastern and
Southern edges of the Campus
MOVEMENT ● UBC has many different bus routes
that come in from all over the Lower
Mainland
● The Welcome Center is a useful
resource for new students
● The Nest is also a good place to relax
and socialize
