Elects Officers Ken Sales was elected chairman of the Davie County Democrats at a meeting Saturday evening, June 20, at the Town Hall in Mocksville. Other officers elected were: Mrs. Muriel Gude, First vice chairman; B. T. Williams, Second vice chairman; Edgar Cartner, Hiird vice chairman; Dot Smith, secretary and Lester Martin, Treasurer. Completes Course David Hoyle of Cooleemee, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Hoyle of Ruffin Street, Cooleemee, has just completed a day-long pre- registration session at the University of North Carolina. Entering students are en- couraged to participate in pre- registration prior to their coming to the University in the fall. During pre-registration, students take placement tests prepare their course of study and familiarize themselves with the campus. It is co-sponsored by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and the General College. The University of North Carolina is the nation's first state university, chartered in 1789 and open to students in 1795. The cornerstone of Old East, the University's oldest building and now a national shrine, was laid in 1793. Mr. C. O. Burr ell of Route 4, Mocksville had Cliff Grubb to dam up a little pond on his pasture land last year, and later in the year was told that some fellow was in there deer hunting. A few weeks ago, Clyde Ridehour told Mr. Burr ell that he saw a car parked near the pond, and the same fellow who had been hunting there had evidently seen the pond and had come back to fish. APRIL REBECCA DULL Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Dull of Route 2, Mocksville announce the birth of a daughter, April Rebecca, born June 20, at Davie County Hospital. The baby weighed seven pounds, three ounces. They also have a son, Jon Gregory, 4. Mrs. Dull is the former Pat Gregory, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Gregory of Route 4, Mocksville. Paternal grandparents are Mr. Marvin Dull of Cooleemee and the late Mrs. Dull. CORRECTION: The wedding of Miss Joan Stroud to Mr. Gail Humble on Sunday, June 14, was per- formed at the First Baptist Church Parsonage in Cooleemee by the Reverend Charles Burchette. Last weeks paper incorrectly stated the wedding took place in Mocksville. MR. AND MRS. MARTIN G. FOSTER and family of Hyatt- sville, Maryland arrived Monday evening to spend this week with Mrs. Foster's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rovie Mayberry. "Riey plan to return home Friday. CARD OF THANKS The family of the late Willie Lee Ellis wish to thank their friends, neighbors and relatives for their many acts of sympathy shown us during the illness and death of our loved one.
