GFTN-UK FOREST PRODUCT REPORTING SUMMARY FOR 2012

Carillion PLC has been a member of WWF’s Global Forest & Trade Network (GFTN) in the UKsince 1997.

All GFTN members are committed to progressively sourcing forest products from well-managed sources.

Carillion undertakes due diligence to assess and mitigate any risk of illegal and unwantedforest products entering into the UK market from our supply chain. We collect as muchinformation on supply chain sources as possible, and systematically work to eliminate poorsources which may not positively benefit forests as a future resource for people and nature.

To highlight our progress towards meeting our commitments to source well-managed andrecycled materials, we’re publishing the status of our current supply chain for preferredcategories of forest goods, as defined by the GFTN.

We hope the transparency of the UK GFTN members about their performance on forestsourcing will prompt others in the sector to follow suit. We also encourage all forestcertification systems to continuously improve their performance in delivering responsibleforest management.

At present, WWF and GFTN participants believe the FSC represents the gold standard and acredible benchmark for other forest certification schemes to match. Our preference is tosource increasingly from credibly-certified forests or verified recycled sources.

The European Timber Regulation aims to limit the trade in illegal timber. It provides abaseline of legality as a minimum for forest goods entering the European market andreaching consumers. GFTN members want to make sure they’re playing their part inreducing the UK footprint on global forest resources, by sourcing sustainably – going beyonda compliance-only approach.

Carillion’s forest products reported for the 2012 calendar year are as follows:

46.67% Source Verified (including e.g. PEFC purchased with Chain of Custody)

50.37% Credibly Certified (e.g. FSC purchased with Chain of Custody)

0.03% Pre-consumer Recycled

Scope of reporting

- All forest products for resale and/or end use in business delivery

Challenges

- Influencing/controlling sub-tiers in the supply chain where we have no contractuallink- Resolving anomalies and potential non-compliances in reporting on an annualtimescale

Priorities

- Move to monthly reporting from projects and interrogate data regularly to identifynon-compliance and anomalies- Appoint a full time Supply Chain Compliance and Assurance Manager with anobjective to manage compliance to the Responsible Timber Procurement Policy
