elcome to today's Airtricity Dr. Tony O’NeillUnder-19 League Southern Division matchagainst Wexford Youths. I'd like to offer an espe-cially warm welcome to all those who have trav-elled with the team on the long journey fromWexford for this afternoon’s game. It's our firstcompetitive home game in five weeks and it's animportant one for us as we need to get our sea-son back on track after a tough last month forour young players; which started with a Cup exitto a strong Cobh Ramblers side and then anaway loss to a Bohs side much improved fromour previous meeting. Since then the players have had an opportunityto test themselves against a very strong side, with our recent win over the Irish SchoolsUnder-18s, a team which featured some of ourown players competing against their club. Thegame was hugely entertaining and of very highquality and showed again that we have somegreat players coming through from the underageset-up that will form the basis of our senior sidein the future. Off the field it has been a busy few weeks for theclub. The Gap Programme which we brought toLimerick in partnership with LIT and LEDP was

launched officially last week and we were de-lighted to see the coverage of the launch in na-tional media including RTÉ news. Theprogramme gives young people from the regionand beyond access to a life-altering programmewhich enables them to positively impact on thelives of others across the globe. We're also inpreparation for next season and before Christ-mas we will have a number of very exciting an-nouncements to make.Enjoy the game.

ood afternoon and welcome to today’s gameagainst Wexford Youths in the Southern Divi-sion. I’d like to extend a warm welcome to TomElmes, his players and backroom staff, the offi-cials and supporters of Wexford who have madethe trip west for the match. We’re all looking for-ward to the game as we go in search of whatwould be a valuable three points. I’m expectinga very defensive challenge from Wexford. Theyplay a 3-5-2 formation with one of the front meneven dropping back, so essentially they havenine men behind the ball. They are set up tocounterattack in a very Italian style formationand they can be difficult to break down. Our aimwill be to get an early goal, to make them comeout and attack us. The longer it goes on at 0-0the more it will suit them. We have to be patient, though, and hopefully we will be able to get infront early doors. The Irish Schools game tendays ago was a good exercise for us and gave usan opportunity to look at the younger lads in thesquad. Now, we will look to get back on track inthe league having gone down to Bohemians inDublin a fortnight ago. The lads have discussedthat 2-1 loss between themselves and it’s some-thing I’m sure we’ll learn from. If you don’t learnfrom your mistakes then you won’t develop as aplayer and ultimately you won’t progress to thefirst team. Under-19 football is about learning tocompete to win but it’s also about learning todevelop as a player, and we’ll do that. The beauty

of this group is we don’t dwell on things and wedon’t look at the past. We put it behind us andmove forward and now we’re looking at our finalfive games in the Southern Division and we’reaiming to win all of them. Our aim at the startof the season was to win the league and that isstill our objective. We’ll take each game as itcomes. We’re very positive and focussed on thetask in hand. I must mention our coaching stafftoo. I don’t talk about them much when speak-ing about the team but Tommy Barrett andEddie Hickey and the whole team have beenfantastic. They’re great for the lads and, alto-gether, we’re striving for success. Hopefully, wecan reach our goals. Enjoy the game.
