• A new informatics lab that offers some of the most advanced visualization and computer graphics technologies available

• The only Collegiate FFA chapter in Minnesota

• Teaching experience with the Early Childhood Development Center and regional schools

• Designing urban and environmental landscapes

• Tree planting at Chippewa National Forest

• Outreach projects in business, entrepreneurship and marketing through Enactus, a national leadership organization

• The only bachelor’s-level software engineering program in the University of Minnesota system

• Award-winning judging teams in crops, livestock, dairy and equine

• Developing and implementing a business plan with regional businesses

• The only bachelor’s degree in criminal justice in the University of Minnesota system

• Equine breeding, training and showing

• Tax preparation work with local residents through the accounting program

At U of M Crookston, you won’t spend all your time behind a desk. Our curriculum is designed around experiential learning, which means we want you to have as much hands-on learning as possible. Depending on your major, you get opportunities to be in the field, the lab, the classroom or engaging in simulated scenarios that give you a competitive edge when you enter the workforce.

And you’ll be ready to take them on. U of M Crookston offers students an array of hands-on experiences both inside the classroom and out, so students build theconfidence to tackle challenges in their own backyard or across the globe.

• Involvement in faculty research on biofuels, energy conservation and work with dairy and wind energy

• Presenting student research at the National Conference on Undergraduate Student Research (NCUR)

• Working with regional entrepreneurs to develop marketing and businessplans

• Assessing current habitat conditions,water quality, and management effectiveness of local natural resources• Investigating the use of data mining technologies to determine if flooding will take place in the Red River Valley

• Business research with faculty in the Economic Development Administration (EDA) Center or the Center for Rural Entrepreneurial Studies (CRES)

• Studying child development at the Early Childhood Development Center on campus

• Exploring possible antimicrobial properties of selected plant extracts

The U of MCrookston campus competes at the NCAADivision II level in the Northern Sun IntercollegiateConference (NSIC) as well as the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) and offers a full range of men’s and women’s athletic programs.

Our beautiful and friendly campus will charm you, and we doubt you’ll want to leave after a tour of our modern residence halls and comfortable common areas. As far as our hometown of Crookston goes, you’ll find it to be warm and welcoming with its own small but distinctive set of shops and businesses including the longest running movie theater in America and a candy store that makes chocolate covered potato chips!
