Membership Chair Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated

Theta Theta Omega Chapter

P.O. Box 270520

Las Vegas, NV 89172

Dear Kenyatta:

I am writing to express my interest in becoming a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. I aspire to be a

member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated for several interconnected reasons.

As an only child, who is very close to her mother, I value the bonds of love, mentorship and shared vision between African-

American women who serve, shape and lead our communities in so many ways. One of the things that many women I

deeply admire have in common is that they are members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. I view

membership in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated as an opportunity to expand my family with an exceptional

group of aunts, sisters and nieces.

As a law professor and active participant in several organizations, I enjoy plentiful opportunities to participate in civic

engagement. My involvement in various organizations has allowed me to benefit from great mentors. Over time, a pattern

emerged. Members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated consistently provide some of the best support and

guidance I receive both professionally and personally. For me, membership is an opportunity to strengthen my bonds with

women I hold in highest esteem and to meet and serve with many other women of the same caliber.

As an educator, I observe daily the great need our young women and youth in general have for mentors. In my opinion, the

welcoming, supportive arms that Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated extends to each new generation is one of its

most notable strengths and contributions to our society and our common future. I believe that membership in Alpha Kappa

Alpha Sorority, Incorporated would help me to become the best version of myself as well as an even better role model for

the students I teach and mentor.

I provided my completed Graduate Prospective Candidate Form and transcripts with my original letter of interest in being a

candidate and member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated dated September 15, 2016.

Thank you for this opportunity to be considered for membership in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.

Sincerely,

Rachel Anderson

RE: Caleb Green, Candidate for Vice President of the Graduate and Professional Student Association To Whom It May Concern: This is a letter of support for Caleb Green for Vice President of the Graduate and Professional Students Association (“GPSA”). As a the Executive Director of the Intersection - UNLV’s Academic Multicultural Center - I have witnessed Mr. Green exercise his leadership skills and develop a strong commitment to advocating for his fellow students in his capacity as a student leader and as the President of the Black Law Students Association. Given his leadership experience, both in law school and in his undergraduate experience, I am confident Mr. Green will exceed expectations as the Vice President of GPSA. One of the major duties of GPSA vice President is serving on various university committees and representing graduate and professional students. As indicted by his campus involvement, I am confident Mr. Green will be an excellent advocate for students as he has done throughout his UNLV experience. Caleb Green currently serves on the advisory board of The Intersection. In this capacity he has not only offered his ideas to the board, but is active in assisting us in establishing and organizing programming and events. Caleb has played a key role in helping us organize programming focused around academics and immigration. Namely, he is currently helping us secure and identify panelists for our Immigration Resource Panel this spring. However, Caleb’s involvement with The Intersection did not begin recently. From its inception, in 2016, Mr. Green has been involved with The Intersection. As an incoming law student, Caleb served on the focus group for The Intersection and helped formulate it in the early stages. Since then, he has remained a valuable member of our advisory board. As an UNLV alum, Caleb’s leadership experience extends to his undergraduate experience as well. He served in the undergraduate student government—Consolidated Students of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (“CSUN”)—from May 2014 to August 2015 as a member of the Judicial Council. However, Mr. Green exceeded the expectations of his role on the Judicial Council. He was active in assisting the CSUN administration in several maters, including hosting the “Law Enforcements & Minorities Panel” on behalf of CSUN, leading student lobbying efforts in Carson City during the 2015 legislative session, and spearheading a successful petition effort which led to the expansion of the Millennium Scholarship. Even in law school, Caleb has not ceased to remain engaged in the UNLV community. He currently serves the President of the Black Law Students Association, the Vice President of the Intellectual Property Law Society, and the Community Outreach chair for the Immigration Law

Society. As President of BLSA, he help fundraise over $10,000 for his chapter this academic year His experience in organizing large events, I am certain will translate to his responsibilities as Vice President. As President of BLSA, Caleb has successfully put on several large scale events. This included a DACA Renewal Workshop where he help organize a forum for DACA recipients to renew their DACA applications. He also managed to put together a powerful Diversity in the Law Panel with an all-star lineup consisting of Senate Majority Aaron Ford, Speaker of the Assembly Jason Frierson, Judge Richard Boulware, Judge Tierra Jones, among many others. Throughout his undergraduate and law school experience, Mr. Green has been preparing for leadership positions such as Vice President of GPSA. His ability to organize people, manage funds, all with excellence and resourcefulness are evident through is campus involvement. I have no doubt that he will continue to exemplify this standard of excellence as Vice President of GPSA and endorse him fully for this position. Sincerely,

Harriet E. Barlow, Ph.D. Executive Director

Caleb Green
