IT’S A GREAT DAY IN UTAH AND IDAHO! Jim Spinelli, 2013 - 2014 Utah/Idaho District Governor

Wow!!! Another great year has been and gone.

As the incoming Kiwanis Governor of Utah/Idaho

District, I thank you for the opportunity to serve in this

position. This time of the Kiwanis year is devoted to

planning, leading, organizing and training. I would like

to make a few comments and suggestions about what I

know from my experiences, that might give us

motivation, recall, and “ah-hah”.

Planning: Above and beyond the technical planning we

do, I hope you will take the time to assess where your

clubs have been and where they can go. I am promoting the old adage “thinking outside the

box” process. The first step is to devote a meeting to describe your club and its “box”. Get

creative! Look at what you are doing in the community. Are your service projects still

relevant and useful to the best contribution? Consider “cleaning your plate” (projects) to

free up time to do more with your effective projects, and be able to start a new one.

Incoming International President Gunter Gasser said that “change is good”.

Leading: Most of the clubs have elected their officers and committee chairs. I propose and

hope that this coming Kiwanis year that we have our Division Lieutenant Governors elected

by January, and our Club Officers by May. This will give us all an opportunity to have a

back-up, some time to learn the position, and be available for training. This will also allow

the incumbent to have a partner and share some of the duties and responsibilities which

benefits the clubs and our kids.

Organizing: My emphasis will be on communication. Talk to each other; visit with each

other, share with other clubs. Don’t “try” to make Inter-club visits. Do it! Put the visits

into your annual planning. If you are the host, devote the program to the visiting club to

share what they are doing. One of my priorities is to overcome the District phenomenon that

we don’t know each other or our leadership. We have past governors, officers, committee

chairs that have a wealth of Kiwanis information and personal/professional experience and

education. I call this “share your assets”. At our Annual Convention in Salt Lake City, our

Board of Past Governors pledged to us that they are available for mentoring, problem

solving, club and membership development, and training. Going forward, let everyone

know who you are, and what you are willing to offer as far as training, leadership,

information, and mentoring. We all want to be needed. If you don’t know the person, get

acquainted!!

Training: Our Board of Trustees is re-designing the training program for the District to

include more instructors. I have asked them to make training an internal District priority. I

have appointed 3 more instructors to augment the current training staff of 3 to 6. We will

have a “travelling team” of instructors that will be teaching on a geographical region basis to

make it easier for us to get to training events. We are also open for requests for traditional

training and/or special training.

I AM EXCITED ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITIES Revis Turner, Governor- Elect, Kiwanis Club of Twin Falls

Hello Fellow Kiwanians:

First, let me say that I am very

surprised that I am in a position to

write this introductory column as the

2013-14 Governor-Elect. I attended

the first District Convention as the

Twin Falls Club President-Elect in

2005 and never in my imagination

did I think I would be in the district

leadership position. I’m not sure I even aspired to it. However,

when wonderful leaders like John Brown and Jim Spinelli paved

the way with a progressive plan for the Utah-Idaho District, the

Governor’s leadership position seemed like a doable proposition

for me.

Second, it occurs to me that I have a lot to learn about

what is required at this level of Kiwanis leadership. Assuming

the district coordinator position of The Eliminate Project has

taught me a great deal, but I’m assured there is more to learn. I

am thankful to be surrounded by great leaders who will

patiently mentor me in the next several months. So, I, humbly,

accept the challenge.

Third, I am excited about the opportunities that Jim

Spinelli’s leadership will bring next year as well as the 2014-15

term when I serve as Governor. In looking forward, this will be

the 100th

year celebration of the beginning of Kiwanis Clubs and

the “Year of Celebration” for the Eliminate Project. I like

celebrations and my aim is to plan our celebrations well.

Finally, on a personal note, I would like to give you a

snapshot of my Kiwanis background. I grew up in a small

community in Central Illinois. The first time I heard of a

Kiwanis Club was when I was 11 and the Little League team on

which I played was the League Champion. Our team was

honored at a dinner at a fancy restaurant by the local Kiwanis

club and given plaques with our names engraved on it. I kept

that Kiwanis plaque for many years. Three decades later, I

moved to Twin Falls, Idaho from Southwest Ohio in 1988. My

realtor was a Kiwanian and invited me to the club luncheon. I

returned the next week at his urging (he paid for it) and have

been attending ever since. I just celebrated my 25th year as a

Twin Falls club member. I thoroughly enjoy participating in

the service projects and see the difference our club makes in the

community. Also, having attended three International

Conventions has impressed on me the global nature of our

organization, and in particular seeing that perspective at the

2011 Geneva Convention. We are more than just our local and

district clubs. Our impact is world-wide. To that end, I pledge

my whole-hearted effort to serve the Utah-Idaho District of

Kiwanis Clubs

THANK YOU FOR THE TIME OF MY LIFE John Brown, Immediate Past Utah-Idaho District Governor

It has been quite a year. I

have accomplished the majority of

my goals. The District Service

Leadership Programs are growing,

and more clubs are involved. I filled

all but one of my District Board of

Trustee positions. District

membership is still down from last

year but is recovering. No new

clubs have been built but we are still

working on that, as of this letter.

I have not been able to visit all of the clubs, but I have

been to quite a few. Each Kiwanis club is unique. Each has its

own way of doing things, and each has different ideas of what is

important.

What they all have in common is A Kiwanis Heart: a

desire to help others and a willingness of give of their time and

fortunes. Please take joy in what you do, for each of you makes

a difference. If you give with an open heart, you and the

recipient are the better for it. It is not what you do but how you

do it. The smallest thing can make the biggest difference.

The saying goes that “20 percent of the people do 80

percent of the work.” Find a job for everyone. It doesn’t matter

what the job is; just give everyone a chance to contribute and

develop a Kiwanis heart.

Governor Jim Spinelli and the new District Board of

Trustees are working together to improve the communication

among the District and the clubs and to improve the district

convention. Hopefully, this will entice more club members to

attend. Jim has worked hard as Governor Elect, and I am sure he

will carry on that work ethic as Governor.

I have said this before, but it bears repeating: this is not

my District or Jim’s District; it is OUR district. If we are a team

there is nothing we can’t do; if we each go our own way we will be splintered and accomplish very little. Work together, serve

together and have fun together. Please enjoy your efforts in Kiwanis. Never forget that together we can move mountains.

I wish to thank Immediate Past Governor Charles “Chuck” Baker and his District Board of Trustees for having faith in

my abilities to lead our district and for appointing me as Governor-Elect. And, by extension, allowing me to serve as Governor

of the Utah-Idaho District for the year 2012-2013.

I want to thank the House of Delegates for voting to pass a resolution endorsing my candidacy for International Trustee.

Finally, Thank You fellow Kiwanians for all that you do for your clubs, for our division, for our district, and for Kiwanis

International. U and I can change the world one child at a time.

DISTRICT COMMUNICATIONS IMPROVEMENT PROJECT

Fellow Kiwanians,

Since the April / May 2007 Issue of the U & I Kiwanian I have had the pleasure of putting together these issues for you.

It has also been my pleasure of putting together and maintaining the District website since October 2007.

Having the opportunity to be at the District Board Meetings, I often hear that the Districts' Officers, Lieutenant

Governors, Committee Chairs, and occasionally others express desires that everything go well for the children we serve, the

District membership, and the clubs in the District. Challenges are expressed and solutions to them are explored.

During this past year, the District has desired to provide better and timelier communication to the membership about

upcoming Local, Division, and District events, and any other circumstances that would require quick communication. Also,

to have a vehicle that is available to the clubs to use as a way to communicate the things they are doing that others in the

District and area could participate in.

Several months ago we began exploring possible solutions and we have found one. It is Constant Contact

(www.constantcontact.com). They offer several solutions to help businesses, groups, and others to be able keep better in

touch and enhance their efforts.

The District has decided to use the e-mail solution that Constant Contact offers to help improve our communications in

the District. To make this an effective tool for everyone in the District, each Club is being asked to provide a list of those

members who have e-mail addresses and who want to receive e-mail communication through it. The lists can be submitted to

either Kelly Ryan Rush or myself. When we get them, we will enter them into Constant Contact.

The forms and any information about this project will be available from the Lieutenant Governors, District Officers,

myself, and will soon be available for download on the District website as well.

The sooner the information is returned to us, the sooner this will become a valuable tool for us to use.

Thanks,

Yours in Service

Gordon Lewis

“HELP ME HELP YOU!”

My name is Kelly Ryan Rush

and I am excited for this new

year. Part of the excitement is

due to the fact that I have little

to no idea of what I have

gotten myself into. Governor

Jim Spinelli has asked if I

would assist him as District

Secretary for his term, and,

like many of you, I am

incapable of saying “no”. I

guess that is why we are all so

involved in our clubs and in

Kiwanis as a whole because

our hearts are bigger than our

common sense.

Janet Flinders has done an amazing job in this position and there

is no way to duplicate her success, so I am not even going to try.

I will never be able to assist the district with the grace and level

of knowledge she has attained over the years. I can only bring

my own attributes to the position and in turn, I promise you I

will do my best. I am already receiving much help and support

from many of you – please keep it coming.

A bit about me…

I have been a Meridian Kiwanis member since 2001 and I am

just coming off 3 years as our club president. I look forward to

sitting back in the crowd again and letting someone else run our

meetings.

I enjoy romantic comedies, people, reading, my job and

incorporating fun in what I am doing at the moment. My one

objective is to do the best I can as your district secretary while

enjoying meeting many more of you and learning how I can help

you better your individual members, clubs and the district as a

whole. I will confess, I am not sure what and how to go about

this so I welcome any input you might have to give.

I hope to be a strengthening force within our organization and to

be an asset to you through the coming year.

Yours in Service,

Kelly Ryan Rush

ELIMINATE PROJECT

IN THE UTAH – IDAHO DISTRICT

District Zeller Presentations

David Ross was honored by the Bannock Club of Pocatello with a Walter Zeller Award at

the U-I District Convention. Representing the club and Division 4 Lt. Governor Elect,

Mark Gunning honored David with recognition of his service to the club as a founding

member 17 years ago. Presenting the award Certificate is Revis Turner, Eliminate District

Coordinator.

Tooele Club member, Louise Brown, was presented a Walter Zeller Award by her spouse,

Governor John Brown. Bill Mullins, Division 2 Lt. Governor, assisted in the recognition of

Louise’s service to the District as First Lady.

Zeller Awards protect 690 mothers and their future children from tetanus. U-I Kwanians have given 28 awards to this date,

and two more will be given by the Meridian club at their installation banquet. This brings a total of 20,700 mothers who are

protected from tetanus.

Utah-Idaho District Convention attendees enjoyed a 30

minute before breakfast walk on Saturday, August 17 in

downtown Salt Lake City. Beginning at the Red Lion,

members walked to Washington Park and back for a brisk

journey. $373 in donations were raised by the walkers for

the Eliminate Project. With the 30 minute walk, 207

mothers and their future children were protected.

CLUB FUNDRAISING IDEAS FOR THE ELIMINATE PROJECT

Twin Falls Kiwanis Club hosted a Magic Spectacular weekend that featured a Friday night

dinner and auction and Saturday Magic shows featuring magicians from the local Magic

Valley Magic Club. The fundraiser donations were designated to local youth projects and

the Eliminate Project.

A total of $3000 was raised.

Hosting a Baby Shower

All babies deserve the best start possible.

By hosting a baby shower for new mothers in your community, your club is providing more

than just diapers, soft toys and tiny clothing—you are showing a mother support, giving her the confidence that, with this help,

she can be a good parent. Both baby and mommy benefit from a baby shower, and your club will enjoy it too. Think of it

as a baby’s pre-birthday party! Start by forming a baby shower planning committee, including your best party planners, some

parents and grandparents, and any members who have a connection to mothers and babies in your communities. The

committee can use these resources and follow these step-by-step instructions to make a great start for a

baby in your community.

Dinner & Show

When a local Theater production company is preparing a show, ask to host a dinner before the last Dress Rehearsal. Sell

tickets for the Dinner and the show is free because it is a dress rehearsal.

Pet Mayor Contest

Have a contest for Mayor of the City, only the candidates are pets. Have pictures of pets posted and people can cast a ballot

for the best pet to be recognized as Mayor. Local businesses sponsor pet candidates and provide polling places on their

premises. Voters donate $$ for each vote. (This could be set up on a website, too.) Collaborate with your local Humane

Society or Animal Shelter.

Another Important Tip

Include Key Clubbers in fund-raiser events. Be sure to include them on your planning

committee as well as a volunteer body at the event. This is a great opportunity to

mentor them.

NEED CLUB PROGRAM OR SPEAKER IDEAS?

Kiwanis clubs attract fascinating speakers to their regular meetings. For example,

Jimmy Weldon, the ventriloquist who put words in the beak of Hanna-Barbera’s

Yakky Doodle, inspired audiences at the Fontana and Santa Clarita, California,

Kiwanis clubs’ meetings with a message about the American flag. And former NASA

astronaut Jack Lousma launched the Colonial Plymouth, Michigan, Kiwanis Club into

orbit with tales from his missions aboard Skylab and the space shuttle Columbia.

If you’re looking for good programs, here’s a list of popular presentations compiled by

Kiwanis Facebook users:

● Colville, Washington, high school technology students described alternative energy

programs and robots. What fascinating subjects are local students studying?

● Middletown, New York, Kiwanians enjoyed an appearance by a healthy six-year-old

March of Dimes ambassador. You’ll find other Kiwanis International partners at

www.KiwanisOne.org/partners.

● A survivor of suicide told the West Lorne, Ontario, club how she’s supporting families

struggling with this complex issue. A mental health agency may be able to recommend

advocates for a number of causes.

● A Washington, Virginia, Kiwanian described a professor’s speech about childhood

obesity as “very informative.” Ask a doctor or other expert to address a problem that’s

affecting children in your community.

● A Key Leader participant told her sponsoring Greenwood, South Carolina, Kiwanis

Club about her experiences. If your club has not yet sponsored a Key Leader teen, borrow

one from a nearby club.

LANDSCAPE STRUCTURES OFFERS FREE RECOGNITION

Kiwanians put blood, sweat, tears and heart into every new playground they build.

Kiwanis Vision Partner Landscape Structures wants to honor your hard work and

dedication by bringing recognition to your club.

Landscape Structures is proud to provide high-quality commercial playground

equipment and services that reflect the high degree of integrity that Kiwanis demands.

Through our partnership, with the purchase of a play structure, Kiwanis clubs may

receive one of three items to bring recognition to their club on the playground they

helped create:

● Kaleidoscope bench made of post-consumer recycled Permalene© featuring a multicolored seat

and a choice of colors for the rounded-off square end panels that include a large color Kiwanis logo

● Welcome sign custom designed (including posts) with space for seven lines of text and a color

logo inset

● Driver play panel with an optional steering wheel, hardware, a color logo and room for two lines

of text

Visit www.playlsi.com/kiwanis or call 1-888-438-6574 (US and Canada) to start

KIMBERLY CLUB PROVIDED BOOKS TO KIMBERLY LIBRARY

The Kimberly Kiwanis Club has provided over 200 books to the Kimberly

Library for distribution and usage in their on-going reading program for Kimberly

area youth. The books were provided by former Kiwanis District Governor, Brent

Ashworth; stored and transported by Bob Parish, Kimberly Kiwanis member; and

more importantly, coordinated with the library by Kathleen Noh, retired Kimberly

Schools Superintendent and Kiwanis Club member. The Kimberly Key Club

members, through direction by Jody Widmier, Key Club President, will be

involved in an on-going reading program for children. Also, Paul Price, a Kiwanis

member and Key Club advisor will be working with this on-going service project.

As a foot note, the Kimberly Key Club is the largest Key Club in the Utah-

Idaho District and has plans for many service and fund raising projects during the

coming school year.

LOREN EMERSON MARMON February 17, 1924 - August 26, 2013

Loren Emerson Marmon, 89, of Caldwell, passed away with his family by his

side at a local hospital on Monday, August 26th after a brief illness.

Loren was born at home in the Pleasant Ridge Community of Caldwell Idaho

on February 27, 1924, the youngest child of Nathaniel Crew Marmon and Eunice Ann

Darling Matteson Marmon.

Page 22: U & I KIWANIAN · know from my experiences, that might give us motivation, recall, and “ah-hah”. ... the “Year of Celebration” for the Eliminate Project. I like celebrations

PAGE 22

LOREN EMERSON MARMON (Continued)

His first eight grades of school were spent at Pleasant Ridge School. He went

on to Caldwell High School, where he graduated in 1942.

Loren enlisted as an Infantryman in the U.S. Army in June 1944 and served in

Rhineland, Central Europe, earning numerous medals including a Bronze Star. His

service was completed in June 1946. In May 1947, he reenlisted in the Idaho Army

National Guard and was attached to the 25th Army Band unit in Caldwell, serving as

its Administrator under the leadership of CWO Bill Rankin and CWO Don Roblyer.

The family was stationed in Colorado and New Jersey during the Korean conflict. He

was a member of the Idaho National Guard Rifle Team, competing in training and

matches across the country, and was qualified as a trainer in Rifle Marksmanship. He

retired from the U.S. Army in February 1984 after nearly forty years of service with

the rank of Sergeant First Class (E-7).

After his return from the European campaign of World War II, he enrolled at

the College of Idaho in Caldwell, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in

Biology in 1952. While a student at the C of I, Loren took a screen printing class from

Arthur Hart - a skill he would later pursue professionally.

During Chemistry lab at the College of Idaho, he met Shirley Elaine Vocu of

Twin Falls, Idaho, whom he married on September 12, 1948. Over the next eleven

years, they added four children to their family: Steven Loren (1949), Kathryn (Kathie)

Irene (1952), Kent Alan (1956) and Lori (Lorie) Ilene (1959). Loren and Shirley

would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on September 12th of this year,

and have lived in the same home near the College of Idaho for nearly fifty of those

years.

In a note to the family from their friend, Sylvia Hunt, she wrote, "In this time of

emotion, we grieve for the loss of Loren - the patriarch, the husband, father,

grandfather, uncle, Kiwanian, Fine Arts supporter, veteran, carpenter, printer,

businessman, and gentle person who will be gone from us in the way we have known

and loved him." Loren was all of those things and so much more. There is so much

more to Loren's story in the dash of time between 1924 and 2013 than we can print

here.

Service to others was a major part of his life. Highlights of Loren's service

includes serving as an Elder of Boone Memorial Presbyterian Church; College of

Idaho Alumni President; Scoutmaster and Ore-Ida Council Executive Board member;

active member and committee chairman of the Caldwell Chamber of Commerce;

President of the Kiwanis Club of Caldwell, Lieutenant Governor, and eight years, as

District Secretary of the Utah-Idaho District of Kiwanis International.

Professionally, Loren worked in the insurance industry as an agent for Franklin

Mutual Life and Northwestern Mutual Life while serving as Administrator of the

Idaho National Guard's 25th Army Band. He began screen printing "true" decals in

1953 in the basement of his home, and demand for his work quickly grew. Soon, it

replaced his other endeavors, and his business, Treasure Craft Decals, grew to one of

the largest businesses of its kind in Idaho.

For many years, folks throughout the Treasure Valley danced to the music of the Don

Roby Group, made up of Loren, Dave Sevy, Jack Green, Don Blecha and Don

Roblyer. A talented musician, Loren played the guitar, banjo and mandolin.

Loren is survived by his wife, Shirley; his children Kathie (Laird) Thornton of

Renton, Washington; Kent (Sylvia) of Caldwell; and Lorie (Rick) Scherer of

Caldwell; 15 grandchildren and four step-grandchildren; 25 greatgrandchildren and

four step great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren and four step great-great

grandchildren; his sister-in-law, Barbara "Bobbie" (Dick) Beery; and numerous nieces

and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Steve; his former daughter-in-

law, Roberta (Steve) Marmon; his brother and spouse, Ellis (Florence); his sister and

spouse, Opal (Ernie) Leslie; his half-brothers and their spouses Jesse (Verna Pat) and

Robert (Beatrice) Marmon, Delbert (Marguerite) Matteson; his half-sister and spouse

Florence Matteson (Carl) Carlson; half-sisters Laura, Lula and Irene; his in-laws,

Hiram J. and Mabel Egeland Vocu; and his sister-in-law, Doris Bowdoin.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Loren's name to Boone

Memorial Presbyterian Church (checks made payable to "PC Reformed"), 406 S 14th

Ave, Caldwell, ID 83605; the Kiwanis International Foundation, 3636 Woodview

Trace, Indianapolis, IN 46268; or to a favorite charity .

ELMER JUNIOR HAGERTY

TWIN FALLS • Elmer died of a lingering illness at his

home in Twin Falls on Monday, July 22, 2013. He was 91.

He was born to Elmer C. and Carrie (Johnson) Hagerty in

the Lafayette (Indiana) Home Hospital on his father’s birthday.

He grew up on the family farm northwest of Brookston, Ind. He

enjoyed being a country boy. He belonged to a 4-H Club, the

Rural Youth and the Future Farmers of America. (He was

awarded the FFA American Farmer’s degree in 1943.) When he

was 15, he was invited to attend the Indiana State 4-H Leader’s

Camp. There he met 13-year-old Dorothy Bridge. They were

married eight years later in the Pike Creek (Indiana) Church of

the Brethren, a marriage that lasted 66 years.

In the fall of 1940, he entered the Purdue University College of Agriculture. At

Purdue, he was an ROTC Cadet Colonel and belonged to the CERES, Alpha Zeta and

Kappa Delta Pi honor societies. After a war interruption, he returned to Purdue and

resumed his studies, graduating in 1947 with degrees in chemistry and agricultural

education.

As a member of Purdue ROTC, his Army career started when the United States

entered World War II. He spent a total of 37 years in the Army, five years during

World War II, three years during the Korean Conflict and the remainder in the active

Army Reserve. He graduated from the Army’s OCS flight training school, artillery

school, adjutant general school, and Command and General Staff College. Serving in

the Pacific Theater in World War II, he was among the first troops sent into Japan for

the occupation. While there, he made many flights into Hiroshima and Nagasaki to

allow visiting military and political personnel to seethe damage done by the atomic

bombs dropped over those cities.

After graduating from Purdue, Elmer entered a management training program

with Swift and Company in Marion, Ind. While there, he rose to manager of the dairy

and poultry division plant. In 1951, he was suddenly called back into service and was

sent to Germany to spend three years flying border patrol between East and West

Germany. He finished his Army career by teaching the five-year C&GS course to

officers from southern Idaho. He retired from the Army with the rank of lt. colonel.

Elmer was transferred to Twin Falls in 1962 to manage the Twin Falls plant.

While there, he persuaded corporate headquarters to build a new plant. It opened on

South Washington Street in 1972, and he managed it for 10 years before retiring in

1982. (The plant is now the Glanbia Twin Falls cheese plant.) For his part in

coordinating the planning and construction of the plant. Swift and Company sponsored

Elmer on a 1982 two-week agricultural tour of China (organized and led by the

University of Idaho). During his years at Swift, he belonged to the Idaho Dairy

Processors Association and served a year as its president.

After retiring from Swift and Company in 1982, he enjoyed his many years of

retirement. He rarely missed any sports event, drama production or musical event at

CSI. He followed the CSI Men’s Basketball team eight times to the NJCAA

tournament in Kansas. He enjoyed fishing and often made his own lures. His hunting

trips were really just camping trips! He liked to garden, play cards and work jigsaw

puzzles. Throughout his life, Elmer was involved in volunteer activities. He was an

active member of the Kiwanis Club for more than 45 years and was heavily involved

in its Paint Magic and recycling projects. He served on the Twin Falls Salvation Army

Advisory Board for more than 30 years, earning him a lifetime membership. (He

received the Salvation Army’s “Others” award in 1994 for his years of service.) He

was a charter member of the Salvation Army-Idaho Power Project Share, and served

on its board for many years.

Others of his volunteer activities included a two-term membership on the Twin

Falls Airport Board, Republican Precinct committeeman, two-campaign organizer of

the local Republican headquarters, three-time organizer of the Western Days Parade

and two-year president of the CSI Boosters Club. He helped his wife with their church

youth group for nearly 10 years and led a 4-H club while in Indiana. And he was just

one pint shy of two gallons of blood donated to the local Red Cross!

For these and other activities, he received the Twin Falls Chamber of Commerce

Lifetime Achievement Award in 1990. For much of his life, Elmer was bothered by

health problems, starting with pneumonia as an infant. He survived two cancers and

two open heart surgeries. But he had a strong recovery instinct and was faithful about

walking daily for his health (usually cleaning the streets of trash and picking up cans

as he went.) Elmer was a happy person and a good father, husband and employer. He

simply liked to meet and help people and felt he gained more than he gave.

He is survived by his wife. Dorothy: two sons, Stephen and Kevin; daughter-in-

law, Liliane; grandson, Dylan; and sister-in-law, Bessie. He was preceded in death by

two sisters, Viola and Elizabeth; and two brothers, Robert and Carl.
