The smoke alarm detector is a device thatgives a rapid warning of any outbreak of fireat a reasonable cost. However, residentialfires can break out in different ways and areoften unpredictable.

Yet it can fail to warn you of a fire if:- The battery is low or the wrong type.- The detector is not clean.- It is mounted in the wrong place or the

smoke does not reach it.- The operational test is not regularly done.

It is advisable to replace this detector after 5 years.

Cleaning your detector is essentialfor your safety. If your detector ispositioned in a dirty area, you mustclean it more frequently in order toensure that it operates efficiently.

The DOFX helps save lives, butdoes not exempt you from takingout insurance to protect personsand property.

1 PRESENTATION

The DOFX wireless smoke detector is desi-gned to detect the start of a slow burningfire. The detection of smoke particles is indi-cated by a radio message to the TYXALcontrol unit which then triggers the alarm.

It is suitable for 24 hour per day surveillanceof private homes (house, apartments, mobi-le home, caravan, etc.).

Any presence of smoke is indicated by theflashing red LED and the sounding of theaudible alarm.

Whatever the state of the system (sur-veillance On / Off), when smoke is detected:

- The CSX control unit emits warning beeps(beep, beep, beep, etc. for 45 seconds ifthe fault is no longer present, or 4 cycles of45 seconds if the fault is continuous). The fault will be indicated by the “alarm”LED 1.

- A telephone call cycle is triggered. It will indicate “fire alarm, press on star”,and your personal message.

- On a control keypad with display, “technicaldetector” appears on the screen, followedby its identity (to be personalized).

Note: The system siren does not soundbecause it is a “technical alarm”.

2 FITTINGRECOMMENDATIONS

The detector must preferably be attached tothe ceiling in the centre of the room or:- more than 20 cm from any obstacle

(wall, beam, etc.).- more than 60 cm from any corner in the

room.If this is not possible, mount the detector onthe wall at a distance of 15 to 25 cm from theceiling.

This LED is already lit if a detection elementhas already been recorded.

- Close the battery cover of the controlunit.

Stand at a reasonable distancefrom the detector to protect yourhearing from the loud alarm.

Do not try to trigger an alarm byany other means (by using a lighter,etc.). You could damage the detec-tor.

4 REPLACING THE BATTERY

- Remove the detectorfrom the base by turningit anticlockwise.

- Pierce at the indicatedplace and mount the baseusing the 2 attachmentscrews and pins provided(∅ 5 mm).

- Fit a 6LR61 type 9 Voltbattery (see section § 4).

- Secure the detector ontothe base by turning itclockwise.

3 INSTALLATION

The DOFX is equipped with a safety device that prevents it frombeing secured without the battery.

Do not install the detector:

- Less than 1 m from heating, cooling, oraeration vents.

- In a location where the temperature maygo below 0°C or above 50°C; the detectormay malfunction.

- In a location where there is a lot ofcondensation (bathroom, laundry room) orgrease (oven, boiler), in a location wheresmoke may be produced (kitchen or agarage which is not aired), or in a dustyplace.

Never throw away the used battery. It mustbe taken back to the point of purchase.

We recommend that you change the batte-ry once a year.

Never use a rechargeable battery

Low battery indication:

The detector will emit an audible beep everyminute when the battery is low. You musttherefore replace the battery as follows:- Remove the detector from the base by

turning it anticlockwise.- Remove the used battery.- Fit a new 6LR61 type 9 Vdc alkaline

battery respecting the indicated polarityand replace it in its compartment.

- Secure the detector onto the base by turning it clockwise.

- Check that the detector is operating correctly (section § 6).

For mobile homes:- For recent mobile homes designed with

adequate insulation, install the detectors onthe ceiling.
