    Biological Hazard

    Biological hazards, also known as biohazards, referto biological substances that pose a threat to the health of living

    organisms, primarily that of humans. This can include medical waste

    or samples of a microorganism, virus or toxin (from a

    biological source) that can affect human health.

    Biological hazards occur when bacteria, viruses, molds, yeasts, or

    parasites contaminate food. ontrolling time and temperature of food

    is critical for minimizing biological hazardsbecause microorganisms grow rapidly in the temperature danger zone

    Transport Hazard

    The Hazardous Materials Regulations specify

    re'uirements for the safe transportation of

    hazardous materials in commerce by rail car, aircraft,

    vessel, and motor vehicle. These comprehensive

    regulations govern transportation&related activities by

    offerors (e.g., shippers, brokers, forwarding agents,

    and warehousers) carriers (i.e., common, contract,

    and private) packaging manufacturers,

    reconditioners, testers, and retesters, and

    independent inspection agencies. The * apply to

    each person who performs, or causes to be

    performed, functions related to the transportation ofhazardous materials such as determination of, and

    compliance with, basic conditions for offering+ filling
