Printer Pre Check

Do nozzle check before installing the CISS. Go to printing preferences for

your printer and you will find nozzle check option there

If the printer does not print a perfect result, then do the head cleaning

again, followed by nozzle check. If its still not ok, then we advise you to

send your printer for servicing before installing the CISS.

Preparing CISS for Installation

• Carefully remove the small travel plugs on the CISS, leaving the filler

plug in place

• Using the syringe with the large needle attached, remove any excess

ink from the air chamber. Please discard this excess ink. (Note : Air

Chamber is the thin tube inside the tank which is sealed on top by the

travel plug

Please ensure that you

clean the syringe (using

water) between each colour

change to prevent cross

contamination of inks.

Excess ink in air chamber

can cause ink backflow and

air in the silicone tubing.

Shown 6 colour CISS.

Applicable for 4 colour also

Put the System on the left

hand side of the printer.

Pull out the travel plugs.

Keep the travel plugs safely.

It will be needed later while

refilling the CISS or

transporting CISS to other

location.

Replace with Air Filter Plug

with the thicker Side

Installing the CISS

Follow the steps for cartridge change for the printer. You can do this by

going to the main menu – maintenance – cartridge change. This will allow

the cartridge holder to move to the cartridge change position (right hand

side)

With the printer on and the

cartridge holder at the cartridge

change position, remove the

power cable at the back. This

will allow the cartridge holder to

move freely to install the CISS.

Cartridge holder in the cartridge

change position

Use the screwdriver as follows to remove the cartridge holder cover. Shake

the screwdriver, lift cartridge cover and take it off. Note : If for some reason

you are not able to detach the cover, you can apply little force and break it

off. It will make no difference to the printing. Be careful not to damage the

print head.

Page 11: Tx600 Fw, Tx610fw , TX 300f

11

The cartridge holder should

look like this after removing

the cover.

Take out the original

cartridges.

Note : Keep the genuine

cartridges you removed

carefully by sealing the ink

out hole with a tape. You

may need it when you want

to send your printer for

service in future

Move cartridge holder to

the left by hand.

Pass CISS cartridges

through the printer

crossbeam as shown in the

photograph.

12

With the CISS cartridges

outside the printer, move

cartridge holder back to the

cartridge change position

by hand.

Put the CISS cartridges onto

the cartridge holder and

click the cartridges gently

but firmly into place one by

one. Make sure its fixed

firmly otherwise the printer

will not recognise the

cartridges.

Make sure that the cartridge

are fixed on right slots by

matching ink colours. In

case the CISS cartridges are

wrongly combined

(unlikely), please contact

your dealer for solution.

Tube Set up

Fix the bracket – tear off the

sponge seal that is on the

bracket.

Tidy up the ink tube. Stick bracket into the printer cover as shown in the

pic. Please note that the bracket is not fixed straight and is around 0.5 cm

away horizontally from the printer edge as shown in the photograph.

Make sure that the bracket

and the tube is fixed firmly

and will not fall off during

operation of the CISS.

Do not twist the ink tube as

shown in the photograph.

Page 14: Tx600 Fw, Tx610fw , TX 300f

14

Tube Adjustments

Adjustment to the tube length may be required. To Check this, move the

cartridge holder left and right to each end of the printer. It should reach

both ends with ease. Check that the tubing is neither too long nor too short.

The tubing should not interfere with the printer data wire not should it fall

down into the paper support.

Move cartridge holder to the printer

crossbeam and check whether the

inktube will be blocked.

If the length of the tubes seem ok, then no need to do the adjustment below.

If the tube length is too short, then

lengthen it by pulling the silicone

tune

Page 15: Tx600 Fw, Tx610fw , TX 300f

15

If the length seems too long, then

shorten it by pulling on the other

side.

We adjust the tube length to match your printer’s requirements before the

product is shipped out. So there should not be a problem as such...but just

in case.

Peel of the sponge sticker on the

tube.

Stick it as shown in the photograph.

Make sure the ink tube is straight

and not twisted.

In order to ensure there is enough

space for ink tube, clip needs to be

attached. (colour may be white or

black). Get the clip from your

accessory bag.

Page 16: Tx600 Fw, Tx610fw , TX 300f

16

After attaching clip, the space

between scanner and underside

cover is about 3 CM.

Re insert power cable to the rear of your printer and turn on the power

button. Check whether printer and ink tube could run normally. Cover

printer cover and check whether there is a strange sound while printer is

running.

perform a head clean and nozzle check as done earlier. Please note that this

may need to be done several times before the excess air if any is removed

from the tubes.

You can also leave the printer to rest for a couple of hours and the air

bubble may automatically disappear.

If your printer does not perform a perfect nozzle check, the refer to the

trouble shooting guide at the back of this manual.

CONGRATULATIONS. You have successfully installed your CISS system.

Caution : Do not have the ink reservoirs raised higher or lower than

the printer height. This will affect the ink flow to your printer and

may cause your printer to flood with ink.

Page 17: Tx600 Fw, Tx610fw , TX 300f

17

Refilling your CISS

Please ensure to keep topping up your CISS on a regular basis to avoid

running it dry. Ink must be refilled prior to reaching the refill line on the

bottom of the ink reservoir. Otherwise you will need to re prime your CISS

as air will make its way down the silicone tubing.

Note : The pictures are with 6 colour CISS. The procedure will be same for 4

colour CISS.

Ink must be refilled before it

reached the warning meter

as shown by the sticker on

the CISS tanks

Remove the air filters.

Page 18: Tx600 Fw, Tx610fw , TX 300f

18

Fix the travel plugs which

you removed while

installing the CISS.

Remove the filler plug.

Refill ink directly from

bottle or using a syringe.

Ensure you pour correct

colour ink into the each

tanks.

Page 19: Tx600 Fw, Tx610fw , TX 300f

19

Replace the filler plug back

into its place.

Remove the travel plugs and

keep it safely for future use

Put the air filters into place

with the bigger side going

inside the hole.

Caution : To ensure that the ink does not fill the air chamber when refilling

your unit, it is imperative that the air filter is replaced with the travel plug

and that both the travel plug and refill plug are not removed at the same

time.

Page 20: Tx600 Fw, Tx610fw , TX 300f

20

Always use high quality ink into your CISS systems. Our ink is especially

designed for each printer and we can assure the quality. Using other ink

may spoil the CISS and the print head. Moreover different manufactures

have different formulation for ink. So even if other ink is high quality, it

may react adversely with the ink already present in your CISS system.

Page 21: Tx600 Fw, Tx610fw , TX 300f

21

Priming your CISS

Priming is the process used to remove excess air from the tubes and

cartridges.

Only prime your CISS after first installing it and performing 3 head cleans

and nozzle checks. If excessive (10cm or more) of air is still present in the

tubing, please perform the following steps. It is highly recommended that

you wear gloves as well as having some tissues handy to soak up excess ink

and a bottle / container to discard the excess ink.

Priming your CISS must be performed post installation.

Note : priming instructions here are common for all Epson printers. Hence

the illustration may be with a CISS different than the one you own. It will

make no difference though.

Carefully remove the

cartridges from your

printer and place

them nozzle up on a

cleanable surface.

Using the syringe provided in your kit (with no needle attached), place it

firmly over the cartridge ink disperse hole

Page 22: Tx600 Fw, Tx610fw , TX 300f

22

Slowly pull back on the syringe.

This will remove any air and

some ink from your cartridge.

Dispose off any excess ink and

repeat the process for any

cartridge requiring priming.

Page 23: Tx600 Fw, Tx610fw , TX 300f

23

Resetting the Ink Level When the printer does not recognise the cartridge and asks you to replace

it since it thinks that the ink has finished, you have to reset the chips.

Follow the following steps.

Follow the normal procedure of cartridge change to move the cartridge

holder into the cartridge change position.

Press the button as shown for 5

seconds and release it.

The cartridge has been reset and

printer will think that a new cartridge

has been inserted. Click next on the

computer screen. The printer will

start charging the ink and it will be

ready for print again.

Page 24: Tx600 Fw, Tx610fw , TX 300f

24

Removing your CISS

You may want to remove the CISS from the printer when you want to send

it for service, or transport the CISS to other place, or fix it on other printer

or for any other reason. Follow the following steps

Remove the air filter and fix the

travel plugs securely.

Take out the cartridges carefully

from the printer.

Keep the cartridges

with ink hole upwards. You may seal

the ink holes together with a

common cellotape to avoid any ink

drops being spilled out.

Put the CISS system in its box and close the box. Keep it in upright position

while transporting.

Troubleshooting

• Cartridge not recognised – If the cartridge you have placed into the

printer cannot re recognised, please remove the cartridges from the

printer and re inset them. If its still not recognised, then probably the

chip is damaged. Please contact your dealer for a replacement chip.

There be be a layer of rust formed on the chip due to humid weather

conditions. Use a common pencil eraser to gently erase the rust. This

will solve the problem.

• Leaking Ink – If your CISS appears to be leaking from the cartridges,

please ensure that you do not have the ink reservoirs placed higher

than the printer level. The CISS works on a vacuum and if raised,

gravity will take over and will flood the printer.

• Poor print quality

Check whether you have replaced the travel plug with the air

filter.

Check if excess air is there in the tubes. If yes, clean the print head

or prime the system as explained in priming step.

Check whether you are using correct print setting for the paper

you are using. For Eg. Plain paper setting while using photo paper

or vice versa, will affect the print quality.

• Abnormal grinding noises – If your printer is making abnormal

sounds or the printer head seems to be struggling to move from one

end to the other, please readjust the sponge sticker which is holding

the silicon tubing and check the length of the tubing as explained in

earlier step.

• Silicone tubing out of shape – On some rare occasions, the silicon

tubing may have developed a memory due the way it has been

packaged, causing a kink in the tubing. Simply dip the silicone tubing

in some hot water for a few seconds. This will soften the tubing and

remove any kinks. Please be sure not to put teh cartridges into the

water.

• Flashing printer lights – Service call – If your printer lights are

flashing and a message appears stating that your printer requires a

service, then the counter on your printer’s waste pad in may be at full

capacity. Remove the CISS system carefully and install back the

original cartridges which you kept carefully. Remove any glue

residue from the sponge sticker and send the printer for service. Do

not mention that you used CISS unless specifically asked for.
