Twycross Zoo is dedicated to preserving
threatened species whilst providing
education, study and wonder for
our many visitors. Through
our successful breeding
programmes we are
providing a safe
haven for wildlife
in an increasingly
crowded planet.
Your visit here will
help us build upon
past successes
and maintain our
strong commitment
to conservation,
education and
research.
Chimpanzees and bonobos
(like our friend left) are human’s
closest living relative; in fact, they
share 98% of our DNA. Bonobos
are currently only found naturally in
the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Twycross Zoo is part of a worldwide
breeding programme that has produced
seven babies in recent years. Our bonobos
are currently the only ones in the UK. The
bonobos are just part of our world class
collection of primates. Here you’ll find
everything from gibbons to gorillas,
chimpanzees to Colobus monkeys
and lemurs to orang utans.

Here at Twycross we care about our visitors as well
as our animals. We have four cafeterias, the largest
with a licensed bar that is open during the summer.
In addition there are lovely picnic areas and if it
should rain most of the animal houses are under
cover. There are two easily accessible shops in the
zoo and a children’s adventure playground. We also
have a fantastic new play area with rides suitable
for young childen (additional charges apply).
We are delighted to offer group catering but
you will need to call in advance and book
menus. Twycross Zoo is also a unique
venue for business meetings, conferences
and events. Call 01827 880250 to
discuss any of the above.

Adopt an animal Six good reasons to adopt an animal
1. Twycross Zoo is a registered charity, financially
self-supporting from visitor admission fees and in-zoo
sales. All income is ploughed back into running costs
and development.
2. You will be actively supporting the captive breeding
of rare monkeys, apes and other endangered
species.
3. You will help us to further our education
programmes for schools, universities
and the general public.
4. You will allow us to collaborate
with zoo staff, scientists and
conservationists worldwide
as part of a global conservation
movement.
5. You will be contributing to your favourite
animal’s upkeep.
6. You will get free admission for one
person for one year.
Who can adopt?
Anyone, from an animal lover to a parent, child or school.
A perfect gift for family, friends or just for YOU!
How much does it cost?
Well, elephants don’t come cheap! Each one costs
£3,000 to look after for one year. £400 will just about
pamper a penguin. If you want to take on that lot, it’s
fine by us. If not, don’t worry - you can adopt your
favourite animal, either for £40 (single person
adoption) or £80 (two person adoption). All
animals at Twycross are eligible for adoption.
Business sponsorship is also available. To find
out how to sponsor an animal please contact
the zoo.
What do I get?
The £40 package includes free admission
for one person to Twycross Zoo for a year,
a yearly passport, a badge, a car sticker,
a picture of your chosen animal and your
own Twycross Zoo adoption folder!
The £80 package includes all of the
above as well as an outside plaque
and free admission to the Zoo for two
people for a year.
