In line with Breast Cancer Awareness month, GMCAC employees had the opportunity to join forums and lectures and get free consultaon and examinaon. GMCAC supported this year’s Lapu-Lapu City Tourism Expo from Nov 16-18 at the Island Central Mactan. The program included several performances and a pageant night. Hotels and travel agencies also set up their own booths. A 2-day Airport Security Training was conducted for employees last Nov 15-16 to increase their awareness on the different security protocols. Plane from Busan: A Zombie Airport Halloween Event On October 28-31, ‘zombies’ roamed around the terminal to give passengers a scare and some treats and entertainment for Halloween. Airport stakeholders also parcipated in the event with their own zombie interpretaons. Philippines AirAsia won the Best Décor Award, PAGSS (ground handler of EVA Air and Xiamen Airlines) won Best Costume, and Best Performance went to Jeju Air. Cebu and the Visayan Islands ranked second, being noted for its beaches. CNT describes Cebu: ‘not as wild as Phuket in Thailand, Cebu city is more personal, with plenty of up-and-coming restaurants and shopping’. Boracay Island took the top spot with White Beach as its main draw, while Palawan – home to one of the new Seven Wonders of the World – is at third place. The top 3 islands are all in the Philippines. MCIA is 13 th Best in Asia, according to Sleeping in Airports Survey Mactan Cebu Internaonal Airport was voted by travelers as 13th best airport in Asia. The survey was conducted by Sleeping in Airports website, considering criteria such as comfort, services, food opons and cleanliness. Singapore Changi Airport topped the list of Best Airports in Asia. Other Philippine airports in the list are Iloilo (12th), Davao (15th) and Clark (22nd) Internaonal Airports. New ‘visa upon arrival’ for Chinese tourists The Department of Jusce has allowed the issuance of visa upon arrival for Chinese naonals entering Cebu, Manila, Clark and Kalibo. In the new scheme, Chinese naonals, through their tour operators, may apply for their visa at least 10 days before arrival for an inial stay of 30 days. Applicants should have valid passports and return ckets. Each of them shall be charged a visa fee of US$25 and PHP10 legal research fee. The Immigraon Commissioner shall issue an order approving the visa and this shall be presented by the Chinese passengers to immigraon officers upon their arrival in the country. Juneyao Airlines (HO) and Okay Airways (BK) marked their maiden flights to Cebu from mainland China in the early morning of November 1. Juneyao Airlines arrived from Shanghai (PVG) at 0130H.
