Two Days Orientation Workshop on National eVidhan Application (NeVA) at

Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, Secretariat, Chennai-9

on 25th & 26th November 2019

As ordered by the Hon'ble Speaker, Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, two-day

Orientation Workshop on National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) was organised in the

Committee Hall, Legislative Assembly Secretariat, Chennai, Tamil Nadu by the Central

Project Management Unit (CPMU) of Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, Government of

India, New Delhi on 25th and 26th November 2019.

The Workshop was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Speaker, Tamil Nadu Legislative

Assembly and the Hon'ble Deputy Speaker also graced the occasion. The

Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer, Tamil Nadu e-Governance Agency,

Managing Director, Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu Limited, Senior Technical

Director and Technical Director, National Informatics Centre, Officers and staff of

Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly were also present during the inauguration.

Thiru. Arpit Tyagi, Neva Coordinator and Thiru. Sameer Varshney, Data Base

Architect from Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, New Delhi were deputed from the

Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs to impart training to the Officers / Staff of Tamil Nadu

Legislative Assembly.

Hon'ble Speaker, Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, in his inaugural speech

expressed his eagerness in making the Tamil Nadu Legislature, a digital and complete

paperless legislature and pointed out that expenses incurred in connection with

stationeries, postage, etc. would be considerably reduced. He also stated that action is

being taken for the formation of various Committees viz., State Level NeVA

Implementation Committee, State Project Management Unit, House Committee, in

connection with implementation of NeVA.

Secretary, Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly while delivering the welcome

address explained about the salient features of NeVA. He pointed out that by

implementing NeVA in Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, voluminous usage of paper

can be reduced to a great extent, enabling savings to the exchequer and also prevent

deforestation of trees.

A Photo session was held after the inaugural meeting.

During Technical Session-I Thiru. Arpit Tyagi explained about the salient features

of NeVA to the participants.

Thiru Sameer Varshney during Technical Session-II touched upon functioning of

various modules viz., Master Data Entry, Questions and Assurances, List of Business,

Mobile App. and e-Book.

During second day, Thiru. Sameer Varshney, in Technical Session-III explained

about Committee Management Module. Thereafter live demo for the staff was done by

feeding Master data with respect to Question, List of Business, Notices etc.

The Two-day Orientation Workshop concluded with distribution of Certificates by

Secretary, Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly.
