A Look Back at 2011

Twisted Pole Studio was officially opened for its first lesson on January 5th 2011. Since then has seen a huge wave of new faces, events, competitions, so-cials and support from all over. I would first like to give

a MASSIVE Thank You to everyone who has been involved in Twisted Pole throughout 2011. Without you we would not be looking forward to the year ahead of 2012.

We were honoured to have so many of you enter our Charity show on the 4th September and show all the routines that you had worked so hard on and raised £620 for Clic Sargent.http://www.twistedpole.com/clic-sargent-charity-show/

There were also 6 of us that entered

the NPA competition in November and after weeks of hard work every-one showed off their fantastic rou-tines which they completely pulled off. Level 1 Runner up was awarded to Julia McMurray and Level Instruc-tor winner was given to Hannah Capocci.

Kirst Walton entered the British Isles Competition and did really well with her routine to “Black Velvet”.

We also had lots of support and fun at the Charity poleathon and Na-tional Pole Dance Day on May 1st.

We had 2 Gradings with Ro-sie Campbell and Lisa Muir both achieving PDC Grade 4.

And we had several Socials:* Twisted Troop Army Social 1/7/11* Pole and Pie Social 6/8/11* A Night of Twisted Terrors 28/10/11* Christmas Comedy social 3/12/12

Thank you all so much and I look for-ward to the year ahead!!!

Courses

Beginners Course 21st Feb

These courses are a great way to learn a pole moves intensively and with other people at the same level as you and are very focussed.

They are targeted at the complete beginner to those who have had a

couple of lessons. There are planned moves to learn each week but ultimately you are working at your own pace within the class. The class starts off with a warm-up and ex-ercises to increase core and upper body strength. Then you will be allowed a time to prac-

tice moves from the previous class and move on to the new ones after that. The class is finished with a cool-down.

The next 6 weeks course will be held from Tuesday 21st February 7-8.30pm for only £60. Contact now to book in.

Maximum 10 people so don’t miss out! £5 off if you recommend a friend and they pay for the full course!

Splits Course with Lauren Red

One of the best ways to improve the way your pole dancing looks and

feels is to increase your flexibility. Not only does an increased flexibility and stretching improve your quality of life, it also reduces the likelihood of injury

and muscle pain due to a fuller range of movement in your joints.

The amazing Lauren Red takes our flex-ibility classes and will introduce you to safe and fun stretching methods and ways to increase your back flexibility

and both front and box splits as well as stretching for other muscles if you have

any requests.

We have splits courses running for 6 weeks at only £40. Our next course starts Monday 27th February 8pm.

Places go fast so book now!

GradingWe are only 17 days into the New Year which meand there is still plenty of time to start new challenges and work toward new goals.

Why not let pole grading be one of them?

Why should I grade?By grading you can be provided with tangi-ble feedback on your own progress and also something to show off to family and friends. This also shows that you are learning a rec-ognised sport at a reputable school, which should help to dispel some of the miscon-ceptions their friends and family may hold.

How much does it cost?Membership to the AAP Program costs £30/year and includes free personal accident insurance while training at a PDC Approved school. Each grading costs £15 and should you want a certificate, this is £3.

How Does it work? There are 5 different levels to choose from. Your grading will take about 15 minutes and can be booked in at a time that is conveni-ent for you.

You will need to perform a good warm up that is specific to the moves you will perform,

then you will demonstrate each of 10 moves you have chosen form the syllabus at your ability level.

Then you will perform all of the moves as part of a short routine. Finally you will dem-onstrate a good cool-down which is specific to the muscles used during your grading.

You will know by the end whether you have passed or failed.

What do I get?The book contains the following pages/infor-mation:

Membership slip – providing the member-ship slip is in date, each student who partici-pates in the AAP Program is automatically given personal accident insurance to cover them for injuries sustained while practising at a PDC Approved School. For more details on the PDC Personal Accident Insurance, please click here.

Grading record – a list of gradings achieved to date.

Competition record – the promoter can sign the book so that the student has a record of all events they have taken part in.

Courses record – this will document any workshops, master classes, judging courses undertaken.

Please contact us for more information.
