OUT VISITING: We had a great Twirler turnout for our Scatter Visitation to Cowtown Singles’ “Ice Cream Social” on August 4 th . Enjoying the goodies were, Chris Burns, Earlean Wagner, Muriel Greenwood, Bill & Jackie Brown, David & Merrie Ann Franks and Bob &; Carole Stoops. It was a good dance and close to home. Enjoying Steve Moore’s calling and yodeling at the Grape Stomp-ers’ “Purple Haze” dance on Au-gust 19 th were Valerie & Mike Perkins, Alex Hernandez with friend Lillian, Earlean Wagner, Marylou Hofmann, Muriel Greenwood, and Jackie Brown. Plan to get out to at least one visitation in September. Re-member, if we go visiting other Clubs, they will come visit us. SEE YOU IN A SQUARE!

BOARD MEETING BRIEFS: PUBLICITY: The flyer for the September dance is finished. Muriel noticed that on our new class flyer, first night free and open for 3 weeks was omitted. This will be fixed. PRESIDENT’S REPORT: David and Earlean went to the President’s meeting and they said that most of the clubs are in trouble. Grape Stompers is doing the best because they don’t have to pay rent for their class hall. Next meeting is October 3rd. OLD BUSINESS: Fund Raiser at Ritchie’s has been tabled till next meet-ing. There are 2 choices that were chosen for the new badges. These will be put to a vote at our next class dance. NEW BUSINESS: Starting August 15th for the class and September 10th at our Sunday dance, the way we handle the enrich-ment drawing will change. For the class: one winner for the total dollar amount and one winner for a free class. For the Sunday dance: one winner for the total dollar amount and one winner for the visitor that has the drawn ticket. Visitation Pot. It was suggested to change the way we handle the visitation pot. Now everyone’s name is in the pot. If you go on a visitation, your name is put in there again for each visitation you make during the month. So you could have your name in there 3-4 times. It was suggested to only have the names of those that go on visitations for the month not every-one’s name. It was decided to leave it as is. NEXT MEETING: The next meeting will be Wednesday, September 20, 2017 in the Magnolia Room at the Canyon Lake Golf Course. Dinner at 5:30pm at Sports Stop in Canyon Lake shopping

center . The meeting will be at 7:00pm. RSVP to Ear-lean for dinner.

PRESIDENTS’ MESAGE: We were looking forward to a square dance with the Camping Squares, but due to the heat, they cancelled the trip to Hemet. So next time they camp, we will go. PLEASE STAY COOL. HUGS TO EVERY ONE, EARLEAN On August 29th, we met with the Kay Ceniceros center staff. The dis-cussion was about the possibility of us becoming a contract class with the community center. We present-ed a description of our class structure and the methods by which Square Dancing is taught. They concluded that we do not meet the requirements for becoming a con-tract class. They will only support classes in which new individuals may join each month. With this ave-nue closed and depending on the size of the new class starting on September 12th, we may need to look for a new financially viable path forward in the next few months. Dave

CLASS NOTES: A TOAST TO OUR CLASS: There were root beer floats to celebrate another milestone as our class completed the main-stream calls and were declared competent “Mainstream Level” square dancers. Receiving their Certificate of Accomplishment to mark the occasion were Jan & Jerry Guffey, Jolan Gamble, Doug & Jeannie Hall, Michele Polley, and Cindy Vinkel. What’s next? 30 Plus calls. Class members were given their Century Club Books and invited to attend our August dance. It was exciting to see Doug & Jeannie, Jolan, and Jan & Jerry dancing the Mainstream tips. They all did a great job and were able to get 3 signatures—not only was Vic Kaaria calling but he was accompanied by our cuer,Shauna Kaaria and visiting caller Steve Moore on some of the tips. It will be exciting to attend other Clubs’ dances with our class members. THE SEPTEMBER SCHEDULE: September 4 th the schedule will remain the same—Workshop for the Angels 6:30 – 7:00 fol-lowed by Plus class 7:00-8:45. Beginning September 12 th —Plus Class & Workshop 6:30 – 7:30 followed by our new Beginning Class 7:30 – 8:45. The Plus class will include Plus calls from different positions. KEEP SPREADING THE WORD!. Our new class begins on Tuesday, September 12 t from 7:30 to 8:45. New class members can join the class any time during the first 3 weeks. Singles, couples and families with children 9 and older, are welcome. The first night is free for new members. We have flyers available—see Michele, Richard, Chris, Jackie, Tom, or any Board member.
