Virtual World data sources

Real World applications

General Websites: Wikipedia, Yahoo, Google, etc.Specialized Websites: administrative, monuments, museums, etc.Travel/tourism yellow pages and free Geo-localization databasesWeb mapping services: Google maps, Maporama, etc.B2B forumsSocial networks : Twitter, Facebook, Ipernity, etc.User (generated) data (data collected by the user itself, stored locally)

Server side connectors used for connecting new data sources to TWIRL

perform search requests. Results are transferred to the TWIRL format based on the TWIRL semantic data model

Device specific connectors running on client side

deliver access to one specific data entry from a local source such as a GPS sensor

The TWIRL repository : a system wide function to allow the transitory store of data and also to support TWIRL wide permanent data such as presence information

Camera Sensors (accelerator, heartbeat, compass…) Gps Traffic monitoring, weather forecast, etc Professional applications and databases (SAP, CRMs …)Etc.

Mobile devices

Efficient techniques for visualizing the data obtained through the different sources and for interacting with it.

• Information visualisation: renders the different data sources coherently including accounting for different environments. (space-efficient visualization techniques…)

• Information augmentation: Morphs the data sources into a coherent and user friendly view .•Smartphone,

•Tablet,•Desktop,•WebTV, •etc.
