Assault on Mecatol Rex : a two-player variant for Twilight Imperium 3rd edition.Galaxy set-up:- Set-up as in the 3 player game, except place the two home systems directly opposite each other in the 3rd ring.- Remove 6 random non-empty systems, 1 asteroid field and 3 empty systems from the available tiles. Then distribute 11 tiles to each player.- Suggested races for the two player game are: SOL, L1Z1X, Yssaril, Norr and Naalu.Strategy Cards:- The trade strategy card is not used, nor are trade agreements. Players may still receive trade goods via Action Cards and other means during the game.- The diplomacy card is likewise not used.- All the political card does is give players Action cards (and a command counter for the primary ability). There is no Political Deck and no political agendas to vote on.- The Imperial Strategy Card functions according to the rules for the "Ancient Throne" variant.- The "Homeworlds" variant is also in use.- Each player will choose two strategy cards, one at a time: player 1 chooses, player two chooses, player one chooses, playet two chooses. Order of play is determined by the highest numbered strategy card that a player has. Place bonus counters on unchosen strategy cards.- Players must execute both of their strategy cards before they can pass. Objectives and Action Cards:- Remove all public objectives referring to trade goods. Also remove the stage II public objective Domination. These cards are not used in this variant.- Remove secret objectives Merciless, Focused, Technocrat, Conqueror, and Keeper of the Gates. These are not used in this variant.- Remove all Action Cards referring to trade agreements (not trade goods), votes and political agendas. Instead of fishing through the whole deck before the game, players may discard them when they draw such cards and draw another action card to replace the one they discarded. That's it! 2A41183E512E7AA025BC7D46ABE5
