monitors the security of

the church and fire detection costs

$304.65 per month.

We of St. Clement of Rome Parish, with the Power of the Spirit, welcome, embrace and unite all the many faces of

Christ who worship with us. As a family, we deepen our faith and seek God in the community,

through prayer and good works.

refreshments will be provided.

Another successful and fun filled Church picnic!

A sincere appreciation to all of the volunteers who came out

to lend a hand with our parish picnic. Whether if you came to

set up, husk corn, lead crafts, run the basket raffle, serve food,

serve drinks, BBQ, greet our attendees or to clean up… you

were appreciated!

The band was great (as always) and the magic show was fun and

magical! The “food crew” was amazing! Everyone worked so hard and their

efforts were noticed by all of our

a t tendees ! The day was

outstanding!

Many compliments were given

and they all need to be credited to

our parishioners/volunteers! Great

job everyone!

Public Square

Rosary Crusade

The world is a cross-

road. God is more of-

fended than ever as people ignore

Our Lady’s maternal request to

“stop offending God.” Yes, we

must listen to Our Lady’s request

and stop sinning if we hope to en-

joy God’s blessings and to avert

His wrath. He will hear us, if we

pray through the intercession of

His Blessed Mother. That’s why

we’re doing the 2021 Public Square

Rosary Crusade.

In The Secret of the Rosary,

Saint Louis Marie Grignion de

Montfort said: “Public prayer is far

more powerful than private prayer

to appease the anger of God and

call down His mercy, and Holy

Mother Church, guided by the

Holy Spirit, has always advocated

public prayer in times of public

tragedy and suffering”.

What: The Holy Rosary

Where: Picnic Area of St. Clement

When: Saturday, October 16 at

12:00 noon

Pet Blessing

Sunday

October 3

There will be a Pet

Blessing in front of the church on

Sunday, October 3 at 12:00 noon.

All are welcome.

Church carry unique and heavy

burdens. We are called to be joyful

missionary disciples, but we know

the brokenness of our world can

tries will help us identify the areas

of weariness within the ministry

we do, while focusing on the heal-

give rest. Choose whichever date

works best in your schedule and

Wanted: Rosary Makers...

Respond to the call of

Our Lady. The need for

rosaries is great and

urgent. Become a mis-

sionary by making ro-

saries for missions in the U.S., the

military, and all around the world.

It’s easy to learn and we can pro-

vide all your initial supplies. We’ll

have a good time, sharing and

making rosaries together at the

meeting. Our next meeting is

Wednesday, September 29 at

10:00 a.m. in the social hall.

Stay as long as you are able. All

you need to bring is a smile. For

more information contact Joanie

Frink 752-9611.

Communion for the

Homebound

Did you know that we have

parishioners who will bring Holy

Communion to those who are

unable to attend Mass? If you

have a family member or a

neighbor who is homebound,

please contact the Parish

Office at 752-9611. Arrange-

ments will be made for a visit.

A Family Perspective0..

The words in today’s

gospel, “Whoever gives

a cup of water in the

name of Christ will not

lose their reward” hits us at home.

As parents we gain our “reward”

when we bring water to a fright-

ened child in the middle of the

night, or Kool Aid to parched five-

year olds, or hold ice chips to the

fevered lips of a spouse. It is that

simple and that sacred. In our

homes we give until it hurts “in the

name of Christ.” ~ Bud Ozar

Weekly Soup for the

Homebound

Do you know anyone who is el-

derly and home bound, anyone who

has undergone a recent surgery, or

anyone who is struggling with

health issues and would appreciate

a weekly visit to drop off some

soup? If so, contact Christian Ser-

vices 586-651-0734 and we will add

them to our SOS ministry. The

SOS (serving others soup) ministry

delivers soup that is donated from

the Romeo Family Restaurant to

individuals who are going through

rough times. The warmth of a smil-

ing face, a caring ear and a deli-

cious bowl of soup can do wonders!

IHM Sister’ Raffle

Tickets are available in the

parish office for the IHM Sister’s

Raffle. Tickets are $25 each and

with each ticket there are 144

opportunities to win. All proceeds

make it possible for IHM to provide

quality and compassionate care to

their retired sisters.

Comfort Makers

Selling Scarves

Get ready for football season!

The Comfort Makers will be selling

Michigan and Michigan State

scarves on Saturday, Oct. 16 after

the 5:00 p.m. Mass and Sunday,

Oct. 17 after the 10:30 a.m. Mass in

the gathering area. Scarves will be

$5.00 each.

Breaking the Stewardship

Mold

Have you noticed how we always

tend to pigeonhole one another —

and ourselves? “I could never serve

on the Parish Council. That’s for

Rick and Ellen and that whole

group of people who have done it

for years.” “Greg takes care of faith

formation in the parish — he al-

ways has. He doesn’t need my

help.” “I can’t afford to give the big

bucks like those families who sit up

front can. My offering wouldn’t

matter even if I did increase it.”

Thinking like this is a good indi-

cation that we aren’t in conversa-

tion with God about what His will

is for our lives. If we have already

decided what we are and are not

meant to do, we aren’t likely to

pray over it, to discern it.

We have to be open to the spirit

of the Lord wherever it leads us,

regardless of what we or others

have come to expect from us. We

human beings come to believe that

we are such good judges of what

others can offer — or what we our-

selves can offer. But God has plans

for us to which we aren’t privy. God

calls everyone to serve Him in the

way that pleases Him best, and

only He can decide what that is.

Everyday Stewardship demands a

continual accounting of who we can

be, what we can offer — even if it’s

outside our comfort zone, even if

it’s something that never occurred

to us before.

There’s only one Person who can

tell us what God wants from us. Do

we even think to ask Him? — Tracy

What are the little ones? They are the

poor, the marginalized, the women and men

at the well, the Zacchaeus’ looking for Jesus

from a tree, those mired in sin, the blind

who want to see, and the lame who want to

walk. They are the lepers and the different

ones who have been told that they are un-

clean, and the ones who suffer from abuse and grave injustices and oppres-

sion. They are children who want nothing more than to be loved and enjoy

celebrating their innocence. These are all the little ones and they are all

vulnerable. Life already brings them burdens, we don’t need to add to

them.

St. Oscar Romero said, “When the church hears the cry of the oppressed

it cannot but denounce the social structures that give rise to and perpetu-

ate the misery from which the cry arises.” Why are so many people still so

gravely hurting? We have the resources and the means to make things bet-

ter. We choose not to. There are still those things called greed, pride, lust,

apathy, jealously, gluttony, and anger that prevent us from seeing each

other and people to be loved and not objects to be used. Is this how God

intended things to be?

God loves what is good and upright. It doesn’t matter who did it or where

it came from. In God’s eyes, the end result is always faith, hope, and love.

Those will always unite a person with God. We fill our lives with many

things that are not good either for ourselves or for others. All of us have to

work to discover what it is, exactly, that leads to the world’s brokenness.

There are people, systems, and ideologies in place that foster oppression

and injustice rather than equity and fairness. Sadly, our complacency can

be the greatest evil. Turning a blind eye, ignoring the truth, and believing

that we are helpless to fix so great a problem, does little to move us closer

to the kingdom of God. As members of the Body of Christ, we cannot con-

done anything that keeps people in misery.

As it is said, charity begins at home. Perhaps a good place to start is with

our own households and making sure their foundations are properly laid.
