TWENTY-SEVENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME PASTORS CORNER Traditionally, the month of October is dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary. Pope St. Pius V established this feast (which we will celebrate this com- ing Friday, October 7th) in 1571 to thank God for the victory of Christianity over the Turks at Lepanto. This victory was attributed to the praying of the Rosary. Therefore, this month is a good time to fan the flame of faith within you by reciting the Holy Rosary every day, either privately or with your fami- ly. This will allow you to re-discover the beauty and spiritual benefits of this meditative practice when you linger in the sphere of Marys life, the content of which is Our Lord Jesus Christ. The name rosarycomes from the Latin term rosarium, which means rose garden.A rosary is widely considered to be a gift of roses to Our Blessed Mother in heaven. Pope Blessed John XXIII taught that to be beneficial in our life, the Rosary must have a threefold dimension: mystical contemplation, inti- mate reflection and pious intention. It would be a good idea to remember at least one of these dimensions when you offer your prayerful roses to Our Lady in your petitions, praise and thanksgiving. Fr. TWENTY-SEVENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

PASTOR’S CORNER

Traditionally, the month of October is dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary.

Pope St. Pius V established this feast (which we will celebrate this com-

ing Friday, October 7th) in 1571 to thank God for the victory of Christianity

over the Turks at Lepanto. This victory was attributed to the praying of the

Rosary. Therefore, this month is a good time to fan the flame of faith within

you by reciting the Holy Rosary every day, either privately or with your fami-

ly. This will allow you to re-discover the beauty and spiritual benefits of this

meditative practice when you linger in the sphere of Mary’s life, the content of

which is Our Lord Jesus Christ.

The name “rosary” comes from the Latin term “rosarium,” which means “rose

garden.” A rosary is widely considered to be a gift of roses to Our Blessed

Mother in heaven. Pope Blessed John XXIII taught that to be beneficial in our

life, the Rosary must have a threefold dimension: mystical contemplation, inti-

mate reflection and pious intention. It would be a good idea to remember at

least one of these dimensions when you offer your prayerful roses to Our Lady

in your petitions, praise and thanksgiving.
