But they cannot. They have to keep on working, even in the face of failure. Like rowers slipping downstream when they strive to paddle up, they see no progress. But if they stop, it only gets worse. Often it is debt that saps our energy. We get deeper into trouble, and there seems no way out. Rule number one for getting out of a hole is simple: Quit digging. Even in the Christian life we all go through times of despair. Our prayer does not seem what it used to be. We are not as faithful at attending church as we would like. The feasts and seasons drift by without acknowledgment. Kindness to a neighbor seems unappealing. Some people let their faith glide into a hole that seems unfathomable. They do not know what to do. The Second Letter of Timothy knows what to do: “Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, a descendant of David.” Jesus was the Son of God, but he was also human, a descendant of David. He was human like us. And he was raised from the dead. Remember that. “If we have died with him we shall also live with him; if we persevere we shall also reign with him.” He remains faithful to us if we open our hearts to him and remember. Gliding into a Hole At the end of a hard day’s work, at the

beginning of a tough month, in the middle of a difficult season—some people feel like quitting.

Community Outreach Ministry A great big thank you to all who contributed to our clothing drive for the homeless and the

poor. The only items we will continue to collect are clean winter coats, hats scarfs, mittens/ gloves, hoodies and hand/ body warmers. The shelters have been overwhelmed by your generosity. We are no longer accepting personal hygiene items. Once again, your response has been terrific. Blessing bags with these items will assembled and distributed to the homeless in the next few weeks. Prayer Shawls, Lap blankets , Scarfs, Hats & Mittens

To all who have crafted and donated these items, thank you. There's an ongoing need for these items, so we hope you will continue to make and donate them to this ministry. The lap blankets are given to the elderly in nursing homes, while the hats, scarfs, mittens are donated to the homeless, the poor and their families. St. Robert Bellarmine UPDATED CAMPAIGN NEWSLETTER

NEXT WEEKEND IS OUR COMMITMENT

WEEKEND!! We ask you for your consideration and prayers for the campaign so that we all may reap the benefits within our parish and Diocese. One of the major elements of the Grateful for God’s Providence Campaign focuses on helping each of the parishes in our Diocese address their own needs. Each parish will receive 40% of every dollar raised up to their campaign goal, and 60% of every dollar raised above their goal. From dollar one, 40% of what our parish collects will go towards these projects:

Add a restroom, with handicap accessibility, on the main level of the church.

Add an elevator or lift system so as to make the parish hall accessible to all.

Please remember to bring your pledge card with you to Mass next weekend.

Thank you for your prayers. Remember, success depends on us

Prayer for Grateful for God’s

Providence Campaign

Almighty God, your Son Jesus called us

to form a Church that is one, holy,

catholic and apostolic, and your Holy

Spirit guides us on our way. Ever

grateful for your providence in our

lives, we ask your blessing upon our

campaign and upon all the work we do

for your Church. Give us a joyful spirit,

a confident outlook, and a renewed

zeal as we live and share the joy of the

Gospel.Help us to remember that

without you, we can do nothing, but

that with you,all things are possible.

This we ask through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Our Father...

Hail Mary...
