TurksLegal is delighted to announce new appointments within their Sydney offi ce.
The fi rm has promoted two Senior Associates to the Partnership: Lisa Dorman (Commercial Disputes & Insolvency) and Dominic
Maait (Workers Compensation) and three solicitors to Senior Associate level: Robbie Elder (Workers Compensation), Benjamin
Karalus (Insurance & Financial Services) and Luke Whiffen, who has recently joined the fi rm’s Commercial Disputes & Insolvency
team.
The internal promotions represent TurksLegal’s focus on recognising and rewarding talent from within and its commitment to
providing employees with a dedicated career path within the fi rm.
Details about the expertise of each Partner and Senior Associate appear below:
Lisa Dorman – Partner, Commercial Disputes & Insolvency
Lisa joined TurksLegal in 1999. Her areas of expertise include Banking & Finance Litigation, Insolvency and Commercial Litigation.
She acts for banks, insurers and insolvency practitioners in conducting a range of proceedings in State and Federal Jurisdictions.
Dominic Maait – Partner, Workers Compensation
Dominic joined the fi rm in 2005. He has extensive experience in insurance litigation and practises in workers compensation,
primarily in the areas of industrial common law claims, 151Z recoveries and dual insurance. His specialist experience also extends
to the provision of advice in relation to claims for statutory indemnity, public liability, motor accident and medical negligence. He
acts for a range of clients in his chosen specialty of recoveries, where signifi cant fi nancial returns have been achieved by adopting a
focused strategy in pursuing claims to recover compensation payments.
Robbie Elder – Senior Associate, Workers Compensation
Robbie joined TurksLegal in 2007 and has specialised experience in providing advice to NSW government organisations within the
Treasury Managed Fund (TMF) Scheme. He also appears as an advocate on behalf of employer clients in the Workers Compensation
Commission.
Benjamin Karalus – Senior Associate, Insurance & Financial Services
Benjamin joined the fi rm in 2007. He practises exclusively for insurers by providing advice on liability and indemnity in relation to
public liability, property and motor vehicle damage claims and acting for insurers in litigated claims. He also advises on and acts for
insurers in fraud claims and investigations, indemnity disputes, recoveries and engineering disputes.
Luke Whiffen – Senior Associate, Commercial Disputes & Insolvency
Luke recently joined TurksLegal. He brings to the fi rm a strong background in insolvency through acting for liquidators and trustees
in bankruptcy. He has extensive experience conducting litigation and providing advice to insurers, including trade credit insurers,
banking and fi nance clients in relation to the enforcement of their securities, and to various corporate and commercial clients in
relation to general litigation matters.
