September 9 to 17, 2010 2 "L" Days
Thursday We will depart Thursday morning from Bahrain on Turkish Airways Flight September 9 TK 775 at 0225 (2:25 am) for Istanbul, arriving at 0640 (6:40 am). Upon
arrival we will be met by our guide and driver and embark on a scenic boat tour of the Bosphorus. This natural waterway divides Asia from Europe. During the cruise we will view imperial palaces, castles, and palatial homes. Lunch will be at a local fish restaurant on the Bosphorus. A bus will take us back to the city for our hotel check in. We will stay at the Vicenza Hotel in the old part of Istanbul. The rest of the afternoon is free. Our first dinner will be at a local Turkish restaurant.

Friday After breakfast we will depart on a full day city tour of Istanbul. We will September 10 visit St. Sophia, once the largest Christian church in the world, now a
museum. We will continue to the Basilica Cistern, Hippodrome, the political center of the Old City. The Blue Mosque with 6 minarets and blue Iznik tiles is a must. We will finish with the Topkapi Palace, seat of the Ottoman Empire for four centuries. Lunch will be at the Topkapi Palace. You are free for dinner. Overnight at the Vicenza Hotel.
Saturday After an early breakfast we will be transferred to the domestic airport September 11 for our flight to Izmir. We will drive to Selcuk and visit Ephesus, one the
most outstanding Roman ruins in Turkey. The Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the World is also on our list, plus the House of the Virgin Mary. This house is where some believe Mary spent her last days. Overnight will be in Kusadasi at the Tatlises Hotel
Sunday We will depart after breakfast for Pamukkale. We will visit September 12 the Antique City of Heirapolis, where calcareous hot springs descend over
cliffs creating fascinating travertines in the form of white terraces and basins. On my last visit we were able to swim in the hot springs. Overnight and dinner at the Lyus River Hotel. The hotel may have hot spring swimming pools, so bring your swim suits.
Monday Following an early breakfast we will drive through an interesting landscape September 13 where peasants make their living, have lunch on route arriving in Konya in
the afternoon. Konya was the center of the Selcuk Empire as well as the city of Melvana and his Whirling Dervishes. We will visit the tomb of Rumi the founder of the mystic Sufi sect. Overnight at the Ozkaymak Hotel.
Tuesday We will continue the next morning to Cappadocia, viewing the Sultanhani September 14 Caravanserai enroute. That afternoon we will visit the incredible
underground city of Kaymakli, where early Christians lived secretly in order to survive and practice their faith. Overnight at the Peri Tower Hotel.
Wednesday A second full day of tours in Cappadocia will include a visit to the valley of September 15 the Birds, viewing the Fairy Chimmeys, Uchisar Castle, and the Goreme
Valley to visit rock churches hollowed out of volcanic ash. Lunch will be at the Avanos Village. That afternoon we will visit a world famous potter and have ample time for local souvenir shopping. Cappadocia is the center of the Turkish carpet industry and a carpet demonstration is also planned. Overnight at the Peri Tower Hotel.
Thursday After breakfast we will fly back to Istanbul. Lunch will be in the Egyptian

September 16 Spice Bazaar at Panderli Restaurant. After lunch and time to explore the Egyptian Bazaar we will have the whole afternoon to shop and explore the Grand Bazaar, a maze of over 4,000 tiny shops selling gold, jewelry, leatherwork and fine carpets. Overnight at the Vicenza Hotel.
Friday Our last day in Turkey is totally free for you to relax or continue your September 17 touring and shopping. We will offer an optional half day city tour for those
who want a more organized schedule. On your last day you might also try a Turkish bath and personal massage before our Turkish Airways flight TK 776 flight back to Bahrain, departing at 1945 (7:45 pm), arriving at 2335 (11:35 pm). Transportation back to Dhahran is each passenger’s responsibility.

• Final Payment due June 15, 2010. CANCELLATION A full refund, less a $100 cancellation fee, will be made up until June 15, 2010. After June 15, 2010, the cancellation fee will depend on the policies of our local agent in Istanbul.

RESPONSIBILITY
The Dhahran Outing Group, and/or its agents act only in the capacity of agent in all matters pertaining by any means and assumes no liability for any injury, damages, loss or irregularity occasioned by vehicle defects, default of hotel/motel or their personnel; and additional expenses due to delay, changes in service, sickness, weather, strikes, quarantine, war or other causes. All tours booked and all arrangements for transportation or conveyance for hotel and restaurant accommodation are made subject to the conditions imposed by the motor coach, railway, shipping, hotel, restaurant and other companies, firms, or individuals concerned and upon the express condition that the Dhahran Outing Group and their agents shall not be responsible for and shall be exempt from all liability in respect of any loss, damage, injury, accident, delay or inconvenience to any person or his or her luggage or other personal property whenever the same shall occur, and whether the same shall arise from or be occasioned by the negligence of the Dhahran Outing Group, their tour leaders or agents or other persons directly or indirectly in the service of the Dhahran Outing Group, or otherwise under the circumstances whatsoever. All arrangements for ocean/water transport are made by various steamship lines; air travel by various airlines and coach travel by various coach companies. The usual passage contract in use by the companies involved shall constitute the sole contract between the companies and the Dhahran outing Group and/or the participants. All itineraries, travel arrangements, hotel accommodations, etc., are subject to alternation or cancellation at any time without prior notice for any cause which in the absolute discretion of the Dhahran Outing Group and/or its tour leaders renders it desirable, reasonable, or necessary to effect such alternation or cancellation. During the course of any Dhahran Outing group tour any participant may voluntarily withdraw from any meal or activity that he does not wish to participate in. No refund will be made for any such withdrawal. The Dhahran Outing Group reserves the right to require any individual to withdraw from any tour at any time if the tour leader deems his act or conduct are detrimental or incompatible with the interest, harmony, comfort, or welfare of the tour as a whole. A refund of any monies recoverable from the agent covering the unfinished part of the tour will be made upon return of the group and reconciliation of the costs by the tour leader. The Dhahran Outing Group will accept no further obligation or liability beyond this refund. To ensure that all members enjoy a happy, congenial holiday, the Dhahran Outing Group must reserve the right to decline to accept or retain any person as a tour passenger should such person’s health or mental condition or physical infirmity or general deportment impede the operation of the tour or the rights or welfare or enjoyment of other tour members. A refund of any monies recoverable from the agent covering the unused land tour services is the limit of the Dhahran Outing Group’s responsibility and liability should such person be required to leave the tour. All tour prices are based on tariffs and rates of exchange in effect when the tour brochure is published and the tour is first announced. They are subject to change without notice. The Dhahran Outing Group reserves the right to modify the itinerary and substitute advertised hotels with similar or equivalent hotels. It further reserves the right to cancel any advertised tour at any time should circumstances warrant such cancellation.
APPLICATIONS AND PARTICIPATION IN ANY DHAHRAN OUTING GROUP TOURS ASSUMES FULL ACCEPTANCE OF THE CONDITIONS HEREIN SET FORTH.
This responsibility statement must be a part of every tour announcement or brochure and any applicant’s signature on the tour application will attest to the fact that the applicant has read the statement. DOGS-August 1983
