It is with great pleasure that I provide you with the attached report on the survey in our community, regarding a community centre for Turkey Beach. Please table this letter at the next council meeting.
While this part of the process has taken some time, Turkey Beach Progress Association Inc, believe that it has been a worthwhile exercise and are encouraged by the results.
Also attached is a letter of request to Mr Stephen Bennett, asking for the preferred parcel of land be released to Gladstone Regional Council. This land then to be allocated for the Community Centre for Turkey Beach. We would appreciate Gladstone Regional Council making every effort to expedite this process so that the project can continue to move forward.
Regarding the land which GRC previously allocated, without community consultation. This area is used for landing the rescue helicopter; with this in mind the community request that this land always be free of buildings so that there is a safe area for the helicopter to use.
Thank you for your consideration of these matters and we look forward to your assistance as we move forward with this endeavour.
Yours sincerely,

Of these 139, 87% are in favour of a Community Centre being developed in Turkey Beach. Of the total responses, the majority, 69.8% want the Community Centre located opposite the current Rural Fire Services Facility. Just 20.2% want a Community Centre located on the already allocated land on the corner of Worthington Road and Daniels Street.
CONCLUSION:
Turkey Beach Progress Association Incorporated should now write to Mr Stephen Bennett (Member for Burnett) and Mayor Gail Sellers (Gladstone Regional Council), informing them of the results of the survey. At this time TBPA Inc will also be requesting Queensland State Government (through Stephen Bennett) release a parcel of land large enough for the
purpose of a Community Centre — opposite the Rural Fire Service Facility — and requesting Gladstone Regional Council provide necessary support in ensuring the reallocation of the parcel of land is conducted in a timely manner so that the project may continue to progress.

Dear Mr Bennett,
Re: Results of survey about Community Centre for Turkey Beach.
It is with great pleasure that I am able to provide you with the attached report on the results of the survey conducted in the community, regarding a Community Centre for Turkey Beach.
With these results in mind, I write, on behalf of the Turkey Beach Progress Association Inc, to formally ask for the release of a parcel of land on the corner of Rex Street and Worthington Road, Turkey Beach, to Gladstone Regional Council for the purpose of developing a Community Centre.
It is believed that current regulations on the number of off street car parks required for such a centre and the rules surrounding septic / sewerage systems in this area will require a parcel of land larger than the 1700m2 that had been set aside previously. We have yet to consult with building designers and council authorities on these matters but will set up meetings about these issues as soon as possible.
Also accompanying this letter is correspondence to Mayor Gail Sellers and councilors on the same subject, requesting their assistance in progressing this project to the next step and beyond.
Thank you for your consideration of these matters and we look forward to working with you in this endeavour.
Yours sincerely,
Vicki Parker Secretary Turkey Beach Progress Association Inc.
