Let’s Support Our Door Prize Donors!

For those of you who have been following along to see just what we love most about Tulsa, we have a “Twofer” for you this month: Both philanthropy and music make this a great city in which to dwell. Tulsa has a long history of generosity. So many philanthropic foundations have contributed to the great diversity of cultural and educational advantages here. In the most recent statistics available from the Chronicle of Philanthropy’s Nonprofit Watchers, Tulsa was selected as their “model of charitable giving”. That’s very high praise! The economic health of the city may ebb and flow with the fortunes of energy prices, but its charitable giving is reliably strong. Donations to the United Way campaign in 2017 were almost $26 million. That was just $5 million less than New York City! Recently we have garnered acclaim from Rolling Stone magazine, as they declared Tulsa to be the next Austin…the next “Go To” city! Tulsa is a place “where history, social consciousness, & barroom jamming make it one of the most fun places to visit.” The article lauded the Woody Guthrie Center, as well as the much anticipated Bob Dylan Center, a pet project of George Kaiser, which takes us back to the philanthropic element of it all. Cain’s bookings are at the heart of the musical explosion with every genre from Honky-tonk to Rap to R&B and Folk. Of course the jazz lovers among us have the OK Jazz Hall of Fame, as well as a myriad of fun spots including Duet Jazz Club, the Gilcrease, and Bodeans, to hear great music every week. What an exciting time to live in T Town. We hope you all go out and experience something new this month. Susan and Carrie

What a way for TNC to start off 2020 with 50 members attending the coffee at Jeanne Strope’s home the last Thursday of January. A HUGE “TNC

The coffee was such a success that we are on track to have a record number of new members this month.

TNC is excited to announce the launch of another interest group!! FOOD AND FRIENDS will be held on the second Tuesday of the month at 3:30 p.m. at the midtown home of Susan Simmons. Susan, a wonderful cook and longtime Tulsa caterer will be revealing cooking tips and step by step instructions for the lovely meal, that will be enjoyed by all participants that evening. Since there is limited space for dining we are taking reservations for 4 people. (Due to liability we will not be able to accommodate special food allergies or diets) This event will be a lottery concept. Sign up anytime and 4 names will be drawn by the Interest Group Chair. The 4 will be contacted by phone or text and required to mail $25 (cost of meal) to hold their reservation. If you can not attend that session your name will go back into the drawing for future dinners. Once you have attended your name is put aside. This will continue month to month till everyone gets a chance to attend. The first dinner will be

Tuesday, March 10th.

Good Luck!
