ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL’S REPORT

SWIMMING

Thank you to families that sent in notes and payment for swimming yesterday. The due date for swimming is in September but we have been concerned with the low numbers thus far, hence the urgency to get more of an idea of numbers.

It is most likely that the program will now continue to go ahead.

HOOP TIME

On Wednesday last week five teams from the Year 5/6 area competed in the Hoop Time Basketball Competition in Cranbourne. I was so proud of all our teams that not only were very competitive, but represented Tulliallan Primary School with such pride. We had so many positive comments about our new uniforms and the behaviour of our students. Well done to all

competitors.

BOOK FAIR

Our next Book Fair is nearly upon us with it opening next Monday August 28th after school. The Fair will run for the week, opening before and after school. Please come and visit us in

the Resource Centre.

FATHER’S DAY

Thank you to all families that have sold their Father’s Day raffle tickets and returned the money to school. The raffle will be drawn on Friday September 1st after the Father’s Day stall. All

children are invited to bring some money on Friday September

1st to purchase a gift for a male loved one.

If there are any parents with their Working with Children Check

that can help at the stall, please leave your name at the office.

Have a good week

Some important notes about the Tulliallan PS Swimming Program...

Our Swimming Program is to be held at Kingswim, Narre Warren South. The centre will be used exclusively by our school during that time. No members of the general public will use the pool or change rooms during our lesson times.

Tulliallan staff will be supervising the students whilst swimming and as necessary in the change rooms.

Parent helpers with a WWCC and who have done an Induction with our school will be asked to assist with helping guide students when changing, particularly with Prep to Year 2 students. We do hope and expect that by Term 4 all students should be able to dress themselves and pack their swimming bag independently.

If parents have any queries about swimming please see your child’s Home Group teacher.

This week is Book Week and to celebrate we are holding a

Book Parade at 9.00am in Elm Stadium.

All children are encouraged to come dressed as their

favourite book character.

We invite parents to attend to watch each homeroom parade

their costumes.

At the conclusion of the parade all students will experience a

Reading session where teachers will read their favourite book

to a group of students.

Please support this important day!!

5 MIND BLOWING FACTS ABOUT SCIENCE!

1. You are never touching anything; instead only microscopically hovering above it, this is due to the

separate atom collections.

2. When you cry, the tears you weep are a combination of sweat and micro liquid particles from within

your eye lining.

3. On Venus, it snows lots of metals and toxic sulphuric acid, but on Jupiter, it rains diamonds the size of

rain drops. However, there is no way humans will be able to physically observe these phenomena.

4. Dry ice is so cold that it can burn

you if the correct measurements are

not taken to protect yourself against

the harsh elements.

HOOP TIME ...YEAR 5 & 6

Last week 35 Year 5/6 students participated in the Hoop Time Basketball Competition against local schools within our area. Tulliallan had five teams compete that ranged from representative players, to rookies who have never played basketball before.

The All Star boys team came 5th overall, the Future Stars team came 3

rd and although the

Rookies don’t play towards finals they all had great success on the day. The best part about the day was seeing the students in our brand new basketball uniforms and representing Tulliallan’s values and showing what a great school we are. All of the students and teachers involved had a fantastic day and we look forward to the Year 3/4 competition which will be held on the 29

th

August.
