MEXICO CITY (AP) — Argen-tine musician Abel Pintos says he found his calling as a child.

“I was clear that music was going to become a language for me,” he told The Associated Press before a concert last week in Mexico City. “When I was a boy, I wasn’t very introspective emotionally, I didn’t have trouble communicating to others, but there were certain things that I couldn’t speak about and I wasn’t able to communicate certain emotions, only music did it.”

Pintos’ first record, a compila-tion of folk music, was released in the late 1990s when he was 13. The prescient title — “Para cantar he nacido” (“I was born to sing”) — was a nod to a song by Argentine folk musician Mercedes Sosa, one of his musical influences.

His 11th album, simply titled “11,” was released in late 2016. Closer to rock than folk, he per-formed tracks from it at the Lunario of the National Auditorium in Mexico City last week, appear-ing deeply moved as the audience cheered him. Some of the songs, he said, were composed in Mexico, though he’d never performed there before.

“It’s been 21 years in music up to now. It excites me to have so much time doing what I do,” he said.

With its funky groove, “Pajaro cantor” (“Singing Bird”), is one of the strongest tracks on the album.

“It ’s a song I wrote when I was on tour,” Pintos said. “When I arrived to the studio with (pro-ducer) Martin Terefe, I only had the lyrics and part of the music. There were no arrangements or aesthetic in mind”.

The song was recorded in a single take.

Children’s Mentoring Connection awarded a certifi cate of appreciation to Brian Springer on August 7, for the construction and donation of a lending library. Brian joined Boy Scouts Troop 310 after seeing them march in parade in Findlay. Brian told his mom that day that he wanted to be a boy scout. His mother Carol Springer contacted the scouting offi ce and found a troop for Brian to be a part of as an adult. He has been a Boy Scout for about 12 years and has just completed this project for his Eagle Scout Badge. Brian came up with the plans by starting with a card stock design, along with the assistance of his Scoutmaster, Doug Couchot his plans came to life. One of the reasons Brian selected this project was in memory of his mother who was a librarian for 38 years and had a great love for books. We are honored that Brian started this lending library off with a few books from her private collection. The Library is a nice addition to the front of our little red house. This is one more way we can assist with the mission of CMC to help develop confi dent, caring, and competent youth. We encourage you to stop by our offi ce at 305 E. Lincoln St. to look at the fi nished product of his many hours of work and to pick up or drop off a book. Thank you Brian for sharing the gift of reading with CMC. Joining us for this special celebration were (left to right) Brian Springer, Doug Couchot, Lisa Snyder, Paula Lundeen, Jaclyn Hecker, Marc Kogan, Stacy Shaw and photo by Becky Baratta.

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (AP) — The world’s oldest and most expe-rienced spacewoman is getting three extra months in orbit.

NASA announced Wednesday that astronaut Peggy Whitson will remain on the International Space Station until September. The 57-year-old

astronaut arrived last November and was supposed to return to Earth in June. But under an agreement between NASA and the Russian Space Agency, she’ll stay another three months and take advantage of an empty seat on a Soyuz capsule in the fall.

The two men she flew up with in

November will return in June without her.

This mission — her third — will now last close to 10 months. Scientists are eager to monitor any changes to her body, to add to the knowledge gained from retired astronaut Scott Kelly’s recent one-year flight.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The entertaining springtime ritual of male sharp-tailed grouse strutting their stuff on the prairie to impress the ladies isn’t as common a sight in Wisconsin as it once was.

So biologists are bringing in some new blood from Minnesota to give an isolated flock a new shot

at survival. Starting next week, wildlife

biologists plan to capture up to 60 of the birds in northwestern Minnesota.

Then they ’ l l release them into the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest of northern Wis-consin in hopes that they’ll inject

some fresh genetics. The birds’ new home will be the

22,000-acre Moquah Pine Barrens in Bayfield County, a rare habitat that the U.S. Forest Service has been working to restore in part-nership with The Nature Conser-vancy, other agencies and local tribes.

Cross StitchLife is like a cross stitchTop side is beautiful for all.Colorful enough to make a pictureSomething to hang on the wall. But on the backside quite a shockIt’s full of troubles, trial, and stress

Nothing even pretty to seeOur choices make a tangled mess. But God can make real beautyOut of all our uglinessAnd from the hardest times in lifeCan bring real happiness.

‘Ant Auntie’Ants are the “largest population” of insects on this earth.Aunts seem like the “largest” population of humans where you search.Ants are known to be the most intelligent to learn.Aunts know their sixth sense helps them to discern.

Ants live in colonies and groups, but do not live alone.Aunts love to “socialize” in fami-lies so they are not unknown.Ants feel and care for their young and keep the nest so clean.Aunts feed kids, clean house, and take care of others’ needs.

Ants that are males don’t do housework in the nest.Aunts in the homes usually do the cleaning best.Ants that are males are only good for one purpose of mating.Aunts wish their Uncle husbands would keep up the dating.

Ants that are males die shortly after mating season is gone.

Aunts are often “left alone” when Uncle suddenly passes on.Ants continue on as worker ants help carry the load.Aunts get help from families as they travel down the road.

Ants and Aunts come in different colors of red, black and white.Ants and Aunts store food, guard their nest and watch for prey in sight.Ants and Aunts have bad hair days that make them want to fight!Ants and Aunts want “respect” so treat them both just right!

God’s PromisesI have God’s promises each dayThat He is always there. He will never fail usAt home or anywhere.Promises He’s given meAs I read in His bookHe’s guiding and directing meEverywhere I look.

Even when I falterHe’s there to help me through.

He died upon the crossThat day for me and you.Never doubt His promisesAnd what He can do for you. They are ever unfailingAnd He will see you through.

We must look to the futureAnd see what life has in store. Our potentials are goodAs we follow Him evermore. We are unlimitedIn where our lives may goIf we but follow JesusMany seeds we may sow.

Those seeds are for the futureThrough our years they may grow. Our children may benefitSeeds that we now sow.God grant that you may always seeWhat’s in store for you.Be pure of heart, with open mindsAnd He’ll show you what to do.
