CHARITY COMMITTEE 2017-2018
This year was yet again another busy year for the schools charity committee which voted for The Glasgow Association for Mental Health (GAMH) as its chosen charity. This year’s board members Huda Hameed, Jordan Wan, Zainab Ashiq and Hassan Ismahel were extremely pro – active in organising the committee and staff through various fundraising events throughout the year.
Some of the main fundraising highlights of the year included the annual Halloween disco, limbo competition, Christmas jumper day, numerous bake sales and of course working with the schools drama department for ‘ pound for panto’. The committee organised each event successfully and managed to raise a total of £1581 for GAMH. Bringing the total to £2666 for the charity when including Mr Carr’s marathon fundraising. The committee also continued to support national charity campaigns such as Children in Need and Comic relief. £1244 was raised for Children in Need through various events such as ‘Human Hungry Hippos’ and a pupil henna stall, while over £180 was raised for Sports Relief through a week of staff versus pupil sporting events organised by Mr Higgin’s in PE. Finally the committee would once again like to thank all pupils, staff and everyone involved with Eastwood high school for raising so much money for great causes. Thank you.
